Patton and the Remus Plushy

Summary:

A Remus plushy surprises Patton in his bedroom one day. Especially considering he didn't think there was a Remus plushy before. He finds himself drawn to the plushy though. He talks to it about how he wishes he could understand Remus better. Something was up with the plushy though. It disappears in the morning and reappears in the same spot in Patton's bedroom at night. Patton doesn't tell anyone about the strange plushy. Remus starts to interact with Patton more now at the same time. Eventually, Janus seems to know that something was going on.

Notes:

Some of these plushy fics would be G if it wasn't for Remus tbh.
So the inspiration from the fic above is the part where a Side talks to a plushy basically.
Warnings: suggestive themes,

Let me know what you think.

Work Text:

Patton entered his room at the end of the day to find a Remus plushy sitting there in the middle of his room. Patton paused and stood there for a moment in confusion, right behind his closed door. As far as he knew, Remus didn’t have a plushy of himself. Not like the ones selling soon for Thomas’s Sanders Sides merch. For the longest time, the core sides had been used to setting up merch for them and Thomas. So adding Janus and Remus with some of the newer options came a bit later. He had a feeling they were still doing something wrong there. It wasn’t intentional to leave them out.

There was a discussion on whether fans would want more merch on everyone. There were logistics they had to look into. The branding for the core sides was so set at this point. Janus claimed they didn't care either way. Janus claimed they didn't care either way. Something about how fans increasing longing for them increases their likeability. It was still hard to tell how much Janus meant that though. That he didn’t care. Patton imagined it would be hard to admit to either way. He hoped communication would get better with time. He didn’t want anyone in his FamILY to be left out.

It was strange to see, honestly. Remus in a cute plushy form. Patton sort of felt bad for feeling this way, but it almost felt like an oxymoron. Especially considering how long Patton had spent being very wary of the other. It didn’t help that Remus enjoyed leaning into their fears of him. Patton stared at the plushy for a moment. It was just sitting there. Strange to see, but nothing was happening. He huffed to himself, feeling a bit silly. It’s just a plushy. Patton imagined the inspiration for the plushy was less innocent. Yet even still, his hesitation to approach the toy dark creativity was laughable.

Patton sighed and walked forward. He stopped a bit in front of the plushy and looked down. It was still just sitting there. Another thought occurred to him, that maybe this was a setup for Remus to get at him in some way. He felt a bit silly to wonder that from the plushie’s appearance alone. Remus wasn’t the only one who would pull a prank on another side, and Patton knew he wouldn’t have thought that at first from seeing a different side’s plushy randomly in his room. He would still be curious about it though. He didn’t really know what prank Remus could pull from a plushy, but Patton wasn’t the creative side. Roman could have an idea, but he seemed to not like such discussions.

Patton kneeled in front of the plushy and tilted his head as he looked it over. It was still cute, of course. He didn’t often get this close to the other creativity. So he wouldn’t know how accurate the little details were to the original. Aside from the physical features, they all shared that is.

“Hm”

Patton reached forward and poked the plushy. He wasn't sure what he had been anticipating as he waited a second. Then he wrapped his hand around the plushy and picked it up. It was just as squishy as it looked of course.

“I can see how someone would want one of these.” He said, taking in the plushy.

“You’re certainly not scary like this.”

Patton huffed to himself before he stood up and then sat over on his bed. The Remus plushy was now in his lap, still facing Patton.

“You’re almost too mundane for a Plushy of Remus,” Patton said with a small smile. “I can’t really picture him staying still this long. I guess Roman can be like that too. He likes to pose though.

I wonder if you like to pose too. Granted, it would probably be in inappropriate ways,”

He said with a small frown.

“I can imagine you’d have interesting additions you’d want for a plushy of your own though. Roman wanted his to sing, but we weren’t able to get that to happen.”

Patton stroked part of the plushy with his finger, thinking.

“You know…I would like to understand you better. I wouldn’t know how to go about it though. Life feels crazy right now, even if a lot of that takes place in Thomas’s head. Even still though, sometimes I wonder. It’s not hard to question my understanding of things now after everything that’s happened. You were always so confusing to me. And…I just want to do better. For all of us. I want things to be better, even if I know it won’t be perfect.”

He looked over the plushy some more for a moment, tapping his fingers. Should he see if this plushy was supposed to be somewhere else? Why was this hard to figure out? A simple task as this. He wasn’t Virgil, not that there was anything wrong with his Kylo friend. Virgil was good at his function and being scary. Patton just didn’t get his own wariness. Oh great, another thing to be unsure about.

The plushy was left here though. Maybe he could just wait for now? He wasn’t sure why the idea of parting with another plushy soft friend upset him. Patton would love to have plushies of all of them. He wasn’t sure about asking though. And here was one. That Patton…wanted for some reason.

“I mean…it’s late anyways. I can always find out where this little guy is meant to be tomorrow. No harm in cuddling a new friend for the night.”

That wasn’t the best justification, but Patton was tired. He set it by his pillow, in a similar fashion to where Thomas places Benjamin Eye-Buttons. He got into bed and glanced at the new occupant. Not scary. Patton smiled a little and settled into bed.

Something subconsciously made Patton frown as he slowly regained consciousness in the morning. He was missing something. He blinked and looked down, his arms were wrapped in front of him but there wasn’t anything in his grasp. He turned his head and noticed the Remus plushy wasn’t there anymore. He put a hand on the bed for balance and looked over the side to see if the plushy had fallen onto the floor. No sign of it though.

That was strange. Did it somehow get to its proper place? Patton was sure he hadn’t dreamt the thing. That would be strange for him. Patton sighed and decided to get ready for the day. He supposed it was alright.

The sides didn’t do things together as much. Like, nobody ever outright rejected family events or anything, but most of them cited being busy or just went on their way to a task for Thomas. There was a lot of going and passing each other by in the mind palace.

Honestly, they only even attempted family meals after Virgil's acceptance. Not as much after Thomas met the dark sides. The most time they spent together as almost all of them were usually with Thomas. So it could be hard to tell where they all stood on certain things. Not that thinking about some issues all the time was healthy or anything. Patton knew they had things to do of course. But, well, he missed his family. He wanted that togetherness they’d had. He knew they always bounced back. Nobody ever rejected it of course, but even still.

So Patton stood by the living room area. He hummed to himself as he looked through cute animal media on his phone. He tried to think of how he could help Thomas today. He heard something and an exclamation from Roman.

“You heathen! Get back here!”

Followed by Remus’ snickering. Then they came running by. This was not at all an unusual thing to overhear. Remus loved to instigate brotherly antics, even more so now. That doesn’t mean Patton expected the hands to curl over his shoulders. Patton eeped and jumped. The lingering smell didn’t go with any other side except Remus.

“You won’t get me with Daddy-do-good as my meat shield!”

Roman paused in front of them, still glaring at Remus, sword still pointed at the other. Patton gulped.

“Uh,” Patton sputtered, thrown off and unsure what to do. He didn’t usually get dragged in between them like this.

Roman huffed. “I should have expected you’d play dirty like the rascal you are.”

Remus laughed again and leaned into Patton. “Play dirty you say?” Remus asked with a lowered voice.

Roman grimaced. “Ew! I don’t know how I don’t expect these things from you anymore!” Roman threw his arms in the air and stomped off.

Remus laughed again and left his spot behind Patton. Remus raised an eyebrow at Patton and smirked.

“You need to wash your hands of me, Potty?”

Patton’s eyes widened and he gasped. “N-no! Of course not!” He protested before fully processing what Remus had said. He probably wasn’t very clean though, was he?

Remus gave Patton a knowing look. “Mhm. Well, thanks for being at the wrong place at the wrong time then. And not making a stink about it, I guess.”

Patton opened his mouth, unsure how to respond.

“I’m sure you would have lectured me about it if I hadn’t caught you off guard though.” Remus then lowered his voice again, “Not that I would have minded,” and waggled his eyebrows at that. Patton furrowed his own in confusion.

“Huh?”

Remus threw his head back at an unnatural angle and laughed.

“Oh, you’re too precious Patsy. Sometimes, talking with you can be entertaining. Anyways, I’m gonna find something else unspeakable to do, so might sneak up on you another time. Stay stinky,” And with that, he sunk out.

That was…an interaction with Remus. He shouldn’t be surprised at that point. Although, the other did pay Patton more attention this time than he usually did. Hm. He wasn’t sure what to make of that.

That evening, when Patton got to his room, the Remus plushy was back. This time, at the end of his bed.

“Huh.” He walked over to it.

“That’s odd.”

Did he just not look well enough earlier? No, Patton was sure it wasn’t on his bed like that. Why would it appear so specifically like that though? Patton picked up the plushy and sat on the bed again. He held the little plushy hands, it faced him.

“You caught me by surprise today,” Patton said. The sentence felt a little silly.

“I wanna hope it’s a good thing. I may be reading into it. You’ve always been unpredictable after all.”

He slowly hugged the Remus plushy.

“Hopefully this is ok.”

He cuddled the plushy in bed again. It was gone the next morning. Patton still didn’t understand.

Patton found he was thinking about Remus more now because of the mysterious plushy. It would appear in his room at night to disappear in the morning. He would wonder about it. And think of what the others would think were they to know about it. It was a bit hard for Patton to explain to himself why he wasn’t telling anyone. Clearly, he didn’t know everything that was going on for the plushy to locate in such a way. Still, part of him didn’t want to question it. He got another plushy friend out of it. That was easier to approach than the one it resembles. Yet still got him to think of the other creativity.

Patton didn’t know if he was just noticing more now, but he was pretty sure he was starting to see more of Remus now as well. From what Patton understood of their functions, Remus seemed to have a bit more leeway with what he could do during the day. In some ways it must be nice though, to not have pressure about daily tasks to do.

Logan would direct Thomas’s mental attention to editing for the day. Patton, would wait and think of what to do during their next break. He also daydreamed about cute animals, because sometimes he couldn’t help himself. The lack of family meals was still lonely. At least the sides still gave each other deferential nods of acknowledgment though.

Remus announced his arrival into the living room with fake fart noises from his mouth. Honestly, it was a bit tame for him. Although Patton was afraid to say so out loud. When Remus looked at Patton, he gave him one of those typical unsettling smiles.

“Heyy Pat.”

Patton took a breath and tried to hide how he tensed up.

“H-hi, Remus.” He probably failed, as Remus was watching him like a hawk for some reason. Where was this pointed attention coming from?

“Uh…did you need something?”

He looked at Patton in the eye slowly, without blinking. Then he suddenly tilted his head to the side with a neck creak, causing Patton to eek in surprise.

“Dunno,” Remus said, before straightening his neck again.

“…ok.”

Remus continued to stare at Patton. Patton found his breathing started to increase. This was, very strange.

“Uh…is there a reason you’re staring at me?”

Remus continued to just look at him for a moment before he took a step forward towards Patton.

“Cause I hadn’t before.”

“…I’m sorry?”

Remus shrugged. “I dunno. You’re not gonna find much reason from me, Padre. You should know this.”

Patton let out a little nervous laugh. “Ah, I suppose that’s true. I just wanted to make sure I hadn’t done anything wrong.”

Remus tilted his head back again and let out a manic laugh. “Oh, I’m the last one who would give a hard time for something like that, Pats.”

“Oh. Are you saying you don’t get upset?” Patton was honestly a bit confused.

Remus hmmed in though.

“Eh, sometimes I just say stuff.”

That didn’t seem like an answer to Patton.

Remus hopped onto the top of the couch and swung his legs, still looking at Patton. Patton had very mixed feelings about this. He kept thinking of something to say or small talk to get to know the other better. But kept second-guessing himself. Some things Patton wasn’t sure he wanted to know. Yet, he still wanted to make an effort though. Plus, this was starting to fluster him.

He supposed he sorta got what he was looking for from the impulsive side then.

“What’s the most memorable thing about me to you?” Remus asked out of the blue. Patton blinked as he thought over the strange question from left field. How should he answer? He didn’t want to be mean.

“And be honest Pats. I’m not gonna care either way.”

Patton found that hard to believe. Surely he could still be honest and not be harsh though. He wasn’t sure what Remus would want to hear anyways. He could try believing the other. He was just so afraid of messing up again before even starting this truce towards a friendship.

“I guess your stare,” Patton said and then gaped. He wasn’t sure how that would sound. But Remus snickered at that.

“Oo that’s a good one. Anybody could look at someone in a completely unassuming way. But you could pick out the way I stare even if I were a disembodied face skin flap. Thanks for not mincing your words Padre!”

“You’re welcome?”

Remus snickered again. “Don’t worry. It wasn’t a bad thing. I should share what your memorable feature is for me.”

“Oh.”

Patton shifted in place. He wasn’t sure why he felt self-conscious about that. Was it from hearing something about himself after a bit of not?

Remus tilted his head this way then that, really looking Patton over. Was this going to be a physical feature? Or was it just for the effect?

Patton pursed his lips together and looked away from the other.

“Hmm…harder than I thought. You have a lot of iconic features.”

“O-oh?”

“Mhmm.” Remus slipped off of the couch and stepped closer to Pat. He place one hand along the wall next to Patton and the other twisted a mustache curl in thought.

“I guess the twinkle of your doe eyes behind those glasses is pretty memorable. Or maybe your untouched smile?”

Patton cleared his throat, face heating up some.

“U-untouched?”

“Hm, maybe that was a strange word for it. Like unrestrained. The kind of smile you’d expect from a child who doesn’t know the world’s degeneracy.”

Patton honestly wasn’t sure how to feel about that.

Remus shrugged. “Just saying. What it reminds me of. Not what you expected?”

“I mean, some think my getup or logo sticks out more.”

“Pfft, that’s aesthetic. And no guarantee of not changing. Even if you were naked, I could pinpoint your memorable features for me.”

Patton choked a bit at that. Remus smirked and winked at him before sinking out.

Patton went to his room earlier that day. He usually made a habit to go around the mindscape more to check how everyone was doing. Even the ones who he wasn’t sure of whether they were still mad at him, would at least tell him if they were fine. Today though, he at least needed a moment to calm down after that strange encounter with Remus. Patton had started to get used to the plushy being there when he entered his room at night. So he was surprised the plushy was still absent that time.

He spent some time enjoying his various nostalgia items. Then he went back to checking on the rest of his family and helping Thomas. Surprisingly, he didn’t see Remus for the rest of the day.

Patton had almost forgotten about getting flustered earlier. He felt silly that seeing the Remus plushy brought it back.

“Oh, this is silly! You are just a plushy. Why am I like this?”

He groaned and fell onto the bed face first. After a few minutes of laying like that, Patton felt a little tickle next to his face. He furrowed his brows and turned over to see the Remus plushy right there next to his face. What the- Patton was sure he hadn’t moved it from the end of the bed where it always reappeared. Patton sat up against the headboard and again placed the plushy in his lap to look at him.

“Are you alive?” He asked it. The plushy didn’t respond. He was missing something here. He knew there was something up with it just appearing and disappearing like it did. What wasn’t he seeing?

Patton sighed.

“You didn’t have to be like that you know.” He said to plushy Remus.

“I guess I shouldn’t complain. I didn’t outright dislike the encounter. I should be glad that you even bothered to talk to me without being mean. At least, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t like that. I just, gosh I still struggle with how to be around you. I don’t know why. It feels less out of fear now though. Like, I'm happy to have non-antagonistic interactions with you. I think my relief from those outweighs the wariness I still have.

“ It’s interesting how that works. Don’t really get it. Not that I expect you to explain it to me or anything heh. You are just so out there. And I admire that in some ways. I always feel this pressure, that I’m not doing something right. It’s nice that you don’t have that expectation. I wouldn’t want to spout everything that you do. That’s your role after all of course. But I would like to have more confidence, in a way that isn’t harmful. “

Patton stroked the plushy again. “At least I have you. No guarantee on how long this will last either though. Hm.”

He laid down and cuddled the Remus plushy.

Patton stopped being surprised when the plushy was gone in the mornings now.

As he sat down for breakfast Patton was surprised to see Janus at the table. Janus usually liked to keep to himself.

“Oh! His Janus. Good morning!’

Janus raised an eyebrow and smiled a little at him.

“Morning Patton.” He took a sip from his mug.

“What brings you here this morning?”

Janus looked at him expectantly for a moment. When Patton just looked at him in confusion, Janus merely sighed and stirred his coffee.

“Very well, I’ll just out with it. I know you’re hiding something.”

Patton’s eyes widened and he little out a nervous laugh.

“Wha, me?”

Janus gave him an unimpressed look.

“Really, Patton? I thought you were the one encouraging honesty.”

“I-I do!”

“Then,” Janus gestured for him to continue. Patton glanced around, then felt bad that he was acting like a big bad secret keeper.

“I-I didn’t mean to. Why do you care?”

“A lot of times, from Sides like you, it’s a sign that something is wrong. I can also sense when one of you is hiding something. I’m not saying I’ll out you if it’s not dangerous. I figured I could be someone safe to share it with.”

“Oh, well that’s sweet of you Jan.”

An unreadable look came over Janus’s face. “I suppose so. Anyways, care to share?”

Patton bit his lip.

“We can go somewhere else.”

“Uh, yeah ok. Well gosh, I feel like I’m acting silly.”

“Nonsense. No acting involved necessary. You just are silly.”

That got a little giggle out of Patton. Janus smiled a little at him and winked.

“But anyways, it’s fine. Perhaps I can help you with whatever.”

Patton nodded. He didn’t want to admit to such a silly secret, but he felt bad about hiding it anyways.

They went somewhere less public.

“So?”

Patton sighed.

“A Remus plushy keeps appearing in my bedroom at night and disappearing in the morning.”

Janus raised his brow. “Really?”

“Yeah, I know. It’s strange. I don’t know why.”

“Have you thought to look into it?”

“Well…”

“Why wouldn’t you have tried to figure out the cause?”

Patton pouted. It was embarrassing to admit.

“I dunno. Felt weird because it was of Remus? Gah, it’s hard to explain.”

Janus frowned. “Hm. I would think Remus might be involved in it.”

“Wait really?”

“Can you think of anyone else who would place a plushy of Remus in your bedroom?”

Well, when he put it that way…

“Why though?”

“I don’t know Patton, you would have to ask him.”

“Oh…right.”

Janus looked exasperated for some reason.

“Do you want me to ask him?”

“I-“

Patton deflated. What was his problem? That he would no longer have the plushy once Remus reclaimed it was his? Was Patton really that sad now?

“Patton…I think he could have done this on purpose. Would you want to know why?”

Patton sighed.

“I think it may be a good idea.” Janus continued. “I’m not going to assume anything about why you haven’t asked him yet. But if you’re getting distracted because you’re thinking about hiding this-“

“I didn’t say that I was.”

“Patton, feeling this isn’t the only way I could tell you were hiding something.”

“Oh.”

“I’m not forcing you of course. I just think it may be a good idea.”

“Is there anything else you know about this?”

Janus tilted his head in thought. “Give it a think, ok?” Janus said, not answering his question. Maybe that was something they both did. Patton frowned.

The plushy was there again.

Patton didn't mean to forget his conversation with Janus the next time he saw Remus. He just got distracted. Remus rose up with a spring to his step, right in front of Patton. Patton jumped and put a hand to his chest at the startle.

“Remus,” Patton said, as he caught his breath. “You…you startled me.”

Remus smirked and shrugged. “Yeah, I know. I do that. We’re doing stuff today!”

Patton blinked at him. “Excuse me?”

“You heard me! I like to spread around whom I bug in the mind palace, and I owe you some annoying times.”

Patton stared at him for a moment.

“…okay? And what would that entail?”

Remus tapped a finger to his chin. “Don’t know yet. May just follow you around. May kidnap you to my side of the imagination. I’ll have to see how I feel.”

Patton took a step back. He…wasn’t sure how he felt about this.

Remus kept smiling at Patton in that unsettling way he often will. Was Patton supposed to ignore him? He didn’t want to do that. His work was usually not as focused as Logan’s or even Roman’s, so it would be harder to tune the other out. Janus could always step in for self-care checkups anyways.

Patton got his phone out to scroll through social media and see fan-related posts. Thomas loved supporting his fans. Patton does not get these modern social medias the way some of the others might. But it still warmed his heart to see how sweet some of the fanders could be. He was so gosh darn proud of every single one of them. His internet children.

“Man, this is kinda boring. What do you even do all day anyways?”

Patton sighed.

“Well, it really depends. I am more led by what I feel, so that can lead me to inconsistent tasks for Thomas. Aside from checking in on everyone that is.”

Remus started to pick at his teeth. Patton wrinkled his nose at that.

“Huh…so you are available for a venture then?”

Patton’s eyes widened and he swallowed.

“Ah, well, I don’t know for sure…”

Remus just giggled at that. Patton was a little surprised Remus bothered to ask anyways to be honest.

“Why do you want to sweep me off somewhere anyways?”

Remus raised an eyebrow at him.

“Cause I haven’t. And, I like attention. Different types of reactions fuel me.”

Well…

Remus swept up beside Patton and wrapped an arm around him. Remus sunk them both out suddenly. Patton eeked.

Patton had tried his hardest not to picture what Remus’s side of the imagination would look like. He still got glimpses from some of the things Remus described on occasion though. Yet, he wouldn’t have pictured this.

They sat on what Patton believed was a hill, that felt like the surface of a balloon. It was hard to figure out what anything was around them really. There were lots of shifting of forms. A lot of the color schemes were among greys though.

“Ta-da!” Remus exclaimed with a dramatic pose. “What do you think?”

“Uh…”

Patton wasn’t really sure.

“I call it twisted Dr. Seuss land! It’s inspired by all the funky settings in Dr. Seuss’s books…but darker,” Remus said the last part with a lowered voice.

“Well…it’s certainly creative,” Patton said.

Remus smiled at him. “That’s the goal!”

Remus fell into a sitting position beside Patton, bouncing both of them in the process.

“Now, it’s not very developed yet. More just a backdrop at this point. It’s a more recent idea after all. We have this tree here that we can climb on if we want, or do anything to it really. Although…I don’t remember what it’s made of or if it will do anything back should we interact with it. So keep that in mind. I can always undo anything anyways though, and I won’t let anything actually happen to you.”

Patton blinked at him.

“Oh! Well, uh, Thank you?”

Remus shrugged. “Of course.”  Despite his warning, Remus leaned back against the tree himself. Patton hesitantly scooted up and did the same. Seemed fine for now.

“Sorry it’s not more exciting,” Remus said. “I probably could have taken you somewhere more interesting.”

“Oh, it’s alright. I appreciate you thinking of me anyways.” Patton tried.

Remus laughed at that. “Yeah yeah. Probably less traumatizing anyways.”

Patton was unsure how to respond to that. It could be hard to tell what Remus wanted.

“It does give us room to like you know, talk and bond or whatever,” Remus said, not looking at Patton.

“If that’s even of interest. I know my conversation topics of interest can be distressing for someone like you.”

Patton hmmed. Honestly, this seemed like a good step. Remus is willing to get to know each other like this.

“I know I’d want to try though,” Patton said, quietly. “I can try to be more open. Accepting diverse topics and all that.”

Remus smiled at him a bit playfully.

“Good.”

Remus made to crawl to Patton and leaned in some so their faces were close.

“I imagine I could have fun in some ways, even with it being us. Not all the spicy stuff has to be scary.”

Patton swallowed a squeak. Remus’s laugh let Patton know it didn’t go unnoticed though.

“Course, it could be soon for that. I wouldn’t know. I’m basically talking impulsiveness.”

That got a little giggle out of Patton. At least Remus seemed amused.

“Uh, it-it’s ok.” Patton cleared his throat. “Although…I can’t help but wonder, how long you’d been thinking about this?”

And how much substance was to these suggestions. Patton hadn’t fully recognized how he felt about Remus yet, so he wasn’t quite sure what he would want out of this answer.

Remus pursed his lips and leaned away. Patton frowned. He hadn’t realized he liked the proximity until Remus moved off. His smell wasn’t deterring Patton now. It was still musky, but not repelling. Remus coughed.

“Well…I’m not sure exactly. And, I kinda have to tell you something related.”

Patton frowned. “Okay?”

Remus sighed. “Well for starters…I know about the Remus plushy that keeps appearing in your room.”

Patton’s eyes widened, and he was definitely blushing. Why did this embarrass him so much? He kinda felt like a freak for holding onto such a thing without the other knowing.

“O-oh?”

“Yeah, and it’s ok Pat. You didn’t do anything wrong with that. The thing is…” Remus gave awkward jazz hands, uncharacteristic for him. “It was me.”

Patton short-circuited for a moment. “Uh, what?”

Remus sighed. “I uh, well. At first, I was gonna prank you. I thought it would be a fun way to catch you off guard by appearing like a plushy since you like those things. I thought you might scream immediately seeing plushy me, or something I dunno. But then, I found myself curious since your reaction to me was surprising.

I didn’t mean to eavesdrop on you or anything. I was just, curious. I longed for the connection you talked about as well. Although I had some wariness about whether you would actually want to be with me in any way. So, I tried testing out how you were around me. I definitely noticed you responded to me in a different way,  even if it was still a work in progress. So, I’m sorry about letting that go on.”

Remus swirled his hand and another Remus plushy appeared.

“You can keep this one if you want. I don’t mind, really. But also know…you can be with me as well.”

Patton took the offered plushy carefully as he processed everything Remus said. Janus had been right.

Patton had mixed feelings. He was embarrassed, but this outcome didn’t seem bad.

Patton smiled a little at Remus.

“Yeah…I think I’d like that.”

Remus smiled back, all teeth. He stroked a finger under Patton’s chin. Patton found himself leaning forward to follow it. “Is now too soon to kiss my pops?”

Patton could feel Remus’s restraint. Patton smiled, blushing. “Well…we did just have a heart-to-heart, so seems alright.”

There would still be more to discuss. They had time though.

Remus smiled in a way that made Patton’s heart race. Then he shot forward, immediately going for a deep kiss. Patton made a noise of surprise at that, but then let himself sink into the feeling of the other against him. Remus began to touch him around more and more, getting more and more spurred on. Patton was pushed back. The Remus plush fell beside them somewhere. Maybe this could be fun.
