You slowly flutter your eyes open, looking at the wall across you with lidded eyes. Even though this “attic” is relatively dim, there are a few minor grooves where the sunlight passes through. You don’t really know where you’re going with this train of thought, the light isn’t enough to disturb you.
You close your eyes for a few seconds, nuzzling your pillow and taking a deep breath. You want to sleep more; it’s so hard to get out of bed, even if you get a full night's sleep.
You consider yourself pretty lucky, due to this room only being accessible by Xiao (and you) you could sleep as much as you wanted without any expectations from anyone. You could stay inside the entire day if that was what you wanted (until Xiao decided it was enough and dragged you outside for some fresh air), but you still felt a bit pathetic, despite the lack of expectation from others.
After a few minutes, you let out a destained sigh. You heaved yourself out of bed, but you found that you could only lift your upper body. You assumed initially that it was just one of those days again until you looked down and realised there was a hand on your waist.
You turn around to look to your right, only to see Xiao- still beside you- looking at you with one open eye, vibrant like the most beautiful of gold ores. “Xiao?” You ask silently. What is he doing here? “Shouldn’t you be on patrol by now?” Whenever you woke up, you’d be alone. Xiao having long gone to do his daily patrols around Liyue. His schedule had shifted ever since you had been corporated into his life, he’d slip away and patrol while you slept, and come back by the time you had been awake for a few hours.
Xiao grunts in response, his fingers gripping tighter into your waist and effortlessly pulling you to lie down again, pulling you close to pressing his face against the back of your neck. His breath tickled your neck, making you shiver as a giggle slipped past your lips.
“Stay.” He quietly mumbles that one word against your skin. The Adeptus doesn’t need to say more- you’re more than happy to oblige to his request. Your body going limp in his hold as if you were some rag doll.
He presses his lips against the back of your neck, giving you a long kiss on your neck. You slowly turn, giving him a kiss on the forehead in return, to which the bird Adeptus lets out a happy trill, giving you a kiss on the lips with his sudden short burst of energy. This intimacy brings some warmth to your chest.
You speak softly “Love you…”
“Lov you too…”Xiao mumbles back silently, closing his eyes and presses his face into your chest. A vibration akin to a purr coming from him as you wrapped your arms around him, reciprocating his embrace.
It was a difficult morning today. But you were grateful for the cute Adeptus by your side. You were glad that he seemed to feel the same.
