Work Text:
Today wasn’t supposed to be a hot day and probably it isn’t but nonetheless Geto feels agitated. His subordinates and sponsors having these pointless meetings which he has to tolerate out of his sense of responsibility.
The meetings weren’t necessarily pointless but something had gained more priority in his life and that was his marriage with you. How he wished to get away from here and spend some time with his beloved wife. But a king never wishes, only commands and, he adjourned the meetings to grant himself the rare privilege of relaxing with his beloved wife.
You had not only caught his eyes but had a firm grasp on his heart too. Was he feeling weak for you? Perhaps, but this did not bother him in the slightest.
Often he was lost in thoughts on how he could devote himself more to you and he disliked the feeling of how he was not being a good husband to you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walking through the wooden corridors with swift steps and practised elegance he reached your chamber, slid the doors open only to not find you kneeling down and weaving the tapestry that you had been working on, since you recently took interest in the creative art of embroidery.
Nonetheless he entered the lavish yet simple space and rubbed his fingertips over the hanging incomplete tapestry. Caressing those threads felt like he was touching an extension of you. His reverie was interrupted when he heard the squealing giggles of Mimiko and Nanako along with the slight trinkling of the hair pin that you adorned in your daily updo.
Moving towards the opening that was the gateway to the well maintained garden that housed a number of flowering plants and trees that gave cooling shade during the unbearable heat, he saw his family? Yes, that is how a family looks like, he mused. He was lost in the tranquillity that finally he was a true family man with a wife and two sweet girls like Mimiko and Nanako. He was always mildly fascinated with how you adapted with everyone, being a good motherly influence and mentor to the two girls, prioritising them as if they were your own, your heart being so grand that it could accommodate his whole world inside.
And, now seeing you being blindfolded and carefree, and running around trying to catch Mimiko and Nanako but adorably failing due to the slightly restrictive nature of your Yukata and of course your attempt at maintaining your elegance.
At that moment, Suguru thought how ethereal you looked with your yukata sleeves flailing like wings, making you look like an angel. No no, you are an angel, he deduced, turning this mere house on earth, your heavenly abode.
The girls mischievously giggled harder seeing Suguru, he smiled and signalled them to go away and the girls excitedly complied because it was rare to see their Geto-sama to relax since he is so hardworking all the time and moreover they loved that he had found a gentle and kind soul like you as his consort and were always eager to do something to make you two spend more time together.
“Mimiko! Nanako! Where are you hiding? I can’t even hear you anymore”, you said a little out of breath
Turning around you hit your forehead at something muscular and hard? Removing your blindfold you saw your husband standing tall and peering down at you with a teasing glint.
He always managed to get you flustered at his slightest of gazes. His grand godly presence enhanced with his traditional robes just made it impossible to break out of his magnetic trance.
“Geto-sama? How can I help you? Did you need anything?” , you started enquiring, slight worry etched on your features
He sighed, “y/n I have told you earlier that you can call me Suguru, that’s how a wife is supposed to address her husband”
“I am sorry, Geto— I mean Suguru-san, I am sorry for not addressing you correctly” , you said with a slight bow of your head looking away.
After a beat of silence, fiddling with the cloth, you chimed, “where are the girls? I was playing with them for a while”
“I sent them away for sometime…” craning his neck downwards to meet your eyes he continued, “Why can I, your husband not play with you?”
“If you are playing this game with me then I caught you and now it’s your turn to wear this blindfold and catch me, only if you can”
Seeing the playful flavour and pure innocence in your eyes he couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Sweetheart you did not catch me. I walked into your trap”
“Whatever you say. It’s still your turn. Come on bend your knees so that I can tie it up”, you retorted with a pout on your lips.
This is one of the many things that Suguru loved about you. He loved your sincerity and the way you were so docile in one instant and yet straightforward in another. To his kingdom, he was the king, where everyone bent their knees to bow to his supremacy but you were his queen and he wouldn’t be a true king if he didn’t kneel down in front of the person who ruled his heart.
Tying the knot firmly at the back of his head, prompting him to stand up and then making him spin gently a couple of times. Unable to control the slight laugh that left your lips you ran so as to avoid getting caught by your blindfolded husband.
“Come on, Suguru-san, this should be as simple as catching curses”
Suguru was inwardly smiling because after all this was a garden which he had known about, way before you came in his life. Moreover no matter how quietly you were taking your steps and prancing behind the trees like a doe , your jingling hair jewel was revealing your location. Afterall he wouldn’t be a strong sorcerer if his senses weren’t extra alert.
You were so caught up in trying to hide that you didn’t realise when the familiar arm of your husband snaking around your waist and pressing your back to his chest while you softly gasped.
“Caught you”, he whispered against your neck and you swear you could feel his smirk on your skin. While the summer breeze blew and carried the scent of the flowers, Suguru was drifting in your essence. He removed his blindfold, turned you around and swayed with you gently, as if time had stopped for both of you, being lost in each other’s eyes.
Pressing your hands on his chest and burying your head in his embrace, hearing his faint heartbeat he asked you, “Catching you is not as simple as catching curses, you know why?”
“Why?”
“Because you are a blessing, only fortunate ones are able to hold on to you and you know that I would never let you go”
