"Satoru?" Utahime called.
"I'm in the bathroom."
“You ok?” she asked, real concern in her voice slipping into the room. Gojo had his back to her.
“I’m okay.” Gojo replied. “Just tired.”
“Did you manage to get any sleep at all?”
“Not much,” he admitted.
“You nervous?” Utahime asked him, amusement in her voice.
The truth is, He was a nervous wreck. They gonna visit Utahime's parents for the first time since they got together.
The most important meeting in his entire life.
"No." Gojo can’t remember the last time he actually had sweaty palms. He shouldn’t be this nervous but he was so worried about his first impression to her parents.
It was practically a nightmare.
Utahime laughed. “Relax,” she said, kissing him lightly on the cheek. “They’re going to love you.”
“You think so?” uncertainty in his tone.
“I know because I love you,” Utahime said softly, kissing him gently on the lips.
"Okay."Gojo mumble. "It's probably best. If I wore a tie."
"The navy blue tie you wore to Suguru and Shoko's wedding, it's suits you." Utahime suggested.
"This?"
"Let me."Utahime worked his tie with deft fingers. He looked the most handsome he’d ever been today, and Utahime thought she couldn’t very well let him greet her parents with a sloppy tie.
“There,” She murmured, sliding her hands across his chest to smooth out the wrinkles both real and imaginary.
“Thought I looked silly. I’m definitely not used to being in this monkey suit.”
Utahime eyes softened "You look fine. I mean it.”
"Thank you, Utahime." he gave her warm smile and kissed her on the shoulder, "You look... wow," he whispered against her cheek, holding her tight allowing herself to melt into Gojo's embrace.
"Hime..."
"Mmm..."
"Let's call your family and tell them we can't come over, that something came up."
Gojo ran his hands over her back, pressing his body against her. It started as a comforting gesture, but being so close to Utahime almost always set off another reaction.
"We can't cancel. Nothing's come up." Gojo nipped at her neck, testing her resolve. "We can work on changing that," he said suggestively, pressing his hips against her to let Utahime know what exactly on his mind.
Utahime broke the kiss as fast as he started it. "No" she gasped.
"I'm sorry i just I don't have a good track record at meeting the families of people I love."
Utahime tighten her arms around his waist. "They're going to love you," she promised.“And because I love you, they’ll love you. That’s how it works.”
Her lips pressed against his cheek leaning back as swift as it came.
"Trust me," she whispered, leaning into his embrace.
He stared at the woman against him, watching her eyes close as she hummed contently. His shoulders slacked, his face softening.
"...Okay." Gojo said softly. "I guess you're stuck with me now forever." he finished, pressing a feather-light kiss against her forehead.
Utahime choked back a sob.. "I guess I can live with that,"
"Good." Gojo said before kissing Utahime slowly.
....
In the end, there was nothing for Satoru to be nervous about. Utahime's parents were extremely kind. Her Father had the same smile as Utahime. Her Mother was sweet and spent most of the night telling embarrassingly adorable stories of Utahime as a child. Gojo even tried to helped Mama Iori clean up the kitchen when they were done with dinner, after cleaning up the four stays at the living room bonding over and telling childhood stories.
....
“What are you thinking about?” Utahime asked him, pulling him out of his thoughts.
Gojo looked over at her and smiled, “Tonight went well.”
“It did, you were right.”
“I told you,” Utahime said, reaching for his hand with her free hand.
“Your parents are really sweet.”
“They love you.” Utahime said, squeezing his hand.
Gojo reached up to place a kiss on her cheek and Utahime surprised him with a soft kiss on the lips.
Utahime smiled, “I love you, Gojo Satoru.”
“I love you too, Iori Utahime.”
...
This is one thing that he won’t compromise on, no matter what plans have been made for his future. If it’s a future with the woman beside him, it would be worth it.
Their relationship was so worth all of it.
