Chapter Text
Kojiro groaned as he hauled some more of Ying Zheng's equipment from the open sea to shore, dragging his feet as he felt more and more of his energy leave his body. He glanced around at the others to find Lu Bu, their guide, also doing the same, though with less effort then himself. He looked to see said doctor sitting on the shore, wringing out his top as his ‘lab parter’ (as Qin called him), focused himself opening the wooden boxes with a crowbar, such as supplies, equipment, etc.
Kojiro didn’t know much about Qin’s friend Tesla, only that the two were working on a project together. He had stupidly agreed to come after Qin begged him to, falsely leading him on with lies of visiting exotic places with samples of dishes from different the places they’d visit. He should have known that they’d go island hopping instead, with no signs of life nearby.
He glanced at his room mate, Raiden, who was also still fishing for their supplies. He grimaced as he felt guilty for fooling his friend into coming along with him. Though to be fair, he had just told him what Qin had said, and Raiden had quickly jumped at the chance of a trip to go abroad. He shook his head, massaging the back of his neck with a hand before looking back up at the sound of grunting.
He quickly walked up to Jack. their captain, who seemed to be having trouble dragging in a wooden crate from the shallow waters, the brit thanking him as Kojiro smiled and drug it at a quicker pace onto dry land, letting it flop on the sand as he ignored Teslas exclaim and stomping to the crate to inspect its damage (not that it suffered any), choosing to instead survey the area.
Kojiro took a deep breath in as he looked at the clear waters. Despite their boat becoming immoble, as in, the waves completely destroyed it, the water seemed unaffected by this. The sky was completely clear, and taking a quick glance around, they were on a sandy beach it seemed, with a jungle heading inland. Though, when Kojiro took a longer look, he noticed the grass seemed flattened in one area, almost like a man made path where people often walked. Before he could discuss this with Jack, a cry of accomplishment was heard from the scientist.
“Got it!” Tesla shouted, a huge grin on his face as he clenched his fist in celebration. And on his first try!
“What’d you get?” Qin asked curiously, pushing his bangs to the side as he shakily got up from the sand, his wet shirt in his hand as he walked over to him. Jack sighed as he turned his head away, pinching the bridge of his nose. He knew those two were trouble when they first proposed this little trip to him, though he couldn't argue with being paid half up front, and then maybe triple his remaining amount should whatever they were after came into their hands.
Of course he wasn't expecting the two to cause an explosion in the bottom deck, which resulted in all of them going down with the boat. He lifted his head to see the men's guide, Lu Bu, drop another wooden crate near him, before turning around and heading back to the water for whatever else he could find. He was surprised the hulking man wasn't tired yet. Although he tried to keep professional about his job, Kojiro had somehow got to talking to him and he learnt bits and pieces about the rest of the ‘crew’.
All he knew about Lu Bu was that Qin had picked him up from somewhere, on their third day of travelling, 2 days before they boarded his ship. Though the muscular man spoke few words, and kept a unhappy look on his face most of the time he had seen him, most nights that washed away and he drank merrily with Kojiro and the rest, almost in a child-like state, before resuming his work in the morning.
He turned his lowered head to the side when he noticed a bottle of water being offer to him by the tanned man, looking up to his small smile as he gestured to the London man to take it.
“I figured you could use some water, after, you know” Kojiro glanced at the ocean “Almost drowning in it” he mumbled, causing Jack to stifle his snort as he accepted the gift with a small thanks, lazily unscrewing the lid and then taking a sip, though he quickly started choking on his drink as a spear suddenly embedded itself dangerously close to him on his side, his jacket getting caught in the sand.
Lu Bu quickly looked up at the man's loud exclaim, easily tossing the heavy crate to the side as he quickly pushed against the waves to his ‘employers’, noticing the army of men that appeared from the jungle and were now facing them. He breathed heavily through his nose once, deciding on how to approach this. If it was him alone, he would have charged forward. But since he had others relying on him, he had to actually think about it. His eyes landed on Tesla who had ducked down into the shrubbery, pulling Raiden down with him, carefully watching what was happening.
Kojiro quickly dropped his bottle as he opened his hands in front of him in an attempt to stop what he assumed to be an attack, swallowing nervously as he thought of what to say to the half naked people that were quickly surrounding them (or rather, three quarters naked). His eyes darted around, instantly thinking that perhaps they weren't as civilised as he thought they could have been when he noticed their lack of clothing and outdated weapons, which mainly consisted of spears.
Though that quickly changed when some people in the middle parted to the side, allowing a handsome, muscular blonde man to stride through. Kojiro could tell he was of importance, with the way he walked, the clothing he wore, which was similar in a sense of just wearing a belt and cloth around his waist. However, his belt was more intricate, more detailed, along with the almost robe-like garment that hung from the belt, a strip in front, two at the side, and probably one at the back. He also didn’t wield a spear, he had a trident grasped tightly in his hand, the metal reflecting sunlight from it which caused Kojiro's eyes to wince. He also noticed the man wearing a golden necklace. Judging from the look on his face, he wasn’t in a good mood, so he’d have to choose his words carefully.
“Oh my god! There’s people here?!” Qin exclaimed, wobbly walking his way over to them, though before he could carry on walking to the approaching guards that were going to advance, Kojiro quickly held him back, his hand covering the doctor's mouth who muffled out questions, Kojiro's eyes never leaving what he assumed to be the leaders eyes.
“Master, what should we do?” A man walked after the ‘leader’, his head bowed down, though his form still up as he eyed the ‘intruders’, ready to attack should they do something stupid. He awaited his orders while narrowing his eyes at the water, unsure if he could spot a figure there.
“Send some men back to the village Proteus. Inform my brother that I have the intruders and to ready the space for them” The blonde one answered, his eyes narrowing slightly at the scarred man who looked almost fearful at him, though he didn't look away. He didn’t understand why he couldn’t tear his eyes away from him. The servant quickly bowed.
“Yes master Poseidon. I shall inform King Hades at once”.
WITH TESLA AND CO
The scientist peered curiously from the bushes, watching as his colleague and others got surrounded quickly and chained to the wrists. He frowned as the other warriors started inspected the crates, harshly whacking them to reveal their contents before Proteus ordered them to stop and take them whole, crates and all.
He squinted and pursed his lips as he watched the supposed ‘leader’ glance around the area, before walking away with his head low as the last of his company were taken away.
Raiden gritted his teeth as he watched his roommate being dragged away with the others, himself being luckily dragged down by Tesla. Then again, maybe he wasn’t lucky in the first place, considering they were all getting dragged and that just left him and Tesla free from their grasps.
The two quickly looked to their rights when they heard the water disrupt, watching as Lu Bu emerged away from the enemies view and stealthily made his way to the two, his face contorted into a frown.
“I’m gunna need double if we’re saving your friends” Tesla groaned at this, wondering if the man knew the severity of the situation.
“How the hell are we saving them?!” Raiden hissed, trying to keep himself under control about this whole situation. “Did you see how many people they had?!”
“So we leaving them?” Lu Bu asked nonchalantly, not seemingly bothered by the whole ordeal. The double pay would have been nice.
“Are we fuck!” Raiden shouted, quickly quieting himself as Tesla smacked his shoulder, though his eyes were on some of the supplies the warriors had deemed worthless. His eyes scanned the water the best they could from his position, noticing that some more crates were still somehow near shore.
Perhaps this could work.
“You two, quickly! Gather the remaining boxes!” Tesla spoke, before running in a squatting position almost to the things left on the beach. The two looked at him before at each other, not expecting him to be as bold as he was being, before doing as they were told.
20 minutes later they returned to their position in the bushes, having collected and sorted through the remaining gear that they thought was needed (or rather, what Tesla thought they needed), before being ready to head out.
Raiden swallowed as he adjusted the straps on his shoulders, glancing at both his companions' faces. They seemed ready, focused, unfazed by everything that was going on. Though to be fair, he had heard some of Lu Bu’s adventures when the man told them drunkenly. Some seemed almost unbelievable, though he didn’t dare call the man out. He eyed Tesla quickly, the man narrowing his brows as he added something to his belt of gimmicks.
He had expected him to panic the most out of the three, yet he seemingly seemed the most ready out of them. He gripped the straps on his backpack, clenching his jaw as he shook the negativity from his mind. That wasn’t going to get them anywhere, he had to stay positive. With new found determination to get his ‘friends’ back and leave this island, he turned around to take a step, only to stop immediately and widen his eyes as he felt something sharp polke his throat slightly.
Lu Bu tried acting quickly, but at the little force that Tesla stopped him at, he froze in his movements, looking at the scientist briefly before eyeing the long haired red man up that was stood behind the well built woman that was currently holding a spear to Raidens neck.
Before anything could de-escalate further, Tesla was quick with his words, noticing that these two wore different outfits compared to the others who had abducted their friends. He also noted that they seemed to have little to no technology on them, which was expected.
“Perhaps we could help each other out” Tesla started, waiting for their answer while he calculated the scenarios in his mind.
The muscled woman raised a brow, her plump lips parting slightly as she thought about what to do. She her head to the side slightly, though she kept her eyes and spear on Raiden as she spoke to the male behind her.
“Father, they don’t seem to be with the Greek clan” she spoke uncertainly, her eyes become a smidge softer as she looked into Raidens who stared at her dumbly. He was trying his best not to stare at her revealing cleavage.
“We shall take them to Odin and await his decision” The red haired man spoke, Tesla noticing that he didn’t seem as battle ready (despite his appearance) as the woman.
“Won’t grandfather be attending the meeting today?” The woman inquired, her eyes innocent as she turned her head around to her father. He sighed, noticing she had once more averted her eyes from the enemy.
“We can only hope that he won’t be gone too long Thrud” the man spoke calmly, turning his eyes to the black haired man who was eyeing him up with furrowed non existent brows. Thrud nodded her head, turning her attention back to the three men.
“We’ll escort you to our quarters, but don’t try any funny business! Or you shall all face the wrath of Thor’s hammer!” She threatened, internally wondering why the man in front was seemingly unfazed by her words as he just stared wide eyed with his mouth agape.
“Who’s Thor?” Lu Bu snorted, wondering what a little hammer was going to do.
“My father” Thrud announced proudly, pointing a thumb behind her to the bored looking man. Tesla intervened before Lu Bu could somehow insult the two warriors.
“Of course we wouldn’t try anything against the both of you” He started, trying to compliment the two. “Shall we head off?”
“Hand over your supplies first” Thor spoke out. Tesla internally groaned, foolishly hoping that they would let them travel with them. At least they weren’t as hostile as the other members on this island.
