Work Text:
Their daily dance practice for After Like has finally come to an end as the sky darkens and the moon shines. Receiving some harsh remarks on her condition from their dance teacher today, Yujin is currently in a bad, bad mood. No need to be said verbally, the frown on her eyebrows and the stressed stare of the leader have been enough for the members including Gaeul, the eldest, to retreat to a safe distance. Maybe Wonyoung is an exception but looking at how frustrated the leader is, the members themselves aren’t sure if Wonyoung should go and be by her side since the leader tends to keep it to herself first before venting it to her best friend if it becomes unbearable.
Wonyoung noticed Yujin’s sour mood too but just like the others think, she will give her friend some time to cool down first. She thought that she might be able to talk to her in the car but they ride in different cars so maybe Wonyoung will wait until they arrived home later.
---
“Unnie.”
Only a small voice slips out from Wonyoung’s mouth as the said unnie still wears a big frown on her face.
The latter then moved her gaze from the boring tiles to her closest friend, raising an eyebrow along.
“Come here.”
Albeit the frown, Yujin still steps closer to her and eventually sits at the edge of her bed after Wonyoung invites her to do so.
Only the fact that she is sitting a bit too far from where she used to.
So, not trying to piss the older one off even more, Wonyoung is the one who pushes herself closer to reach for Yujin across the bed.
It’s not unusual or out of the norm for the duo to just sit together in silence, enjoying other’s mere presence but now, the suffocating silence that is only disturbed by their steady breathing and the rustle of Wonyoung’s comforter is eating the said girl out. It’s quite unusual for Yujin to be in a false mood, especially since she’s naturally an obedient and good-natured person despite her energetic and bright personality. So, Wonyoung is a bit unsure of what to do but again, they have known each other for the longest she can ever imagine for her to face this same frown a few times before.
“Wanna cuddle?”
Wonyoung is a bit hesitant but the moment she sees the slight smile forming on her unnie’s face, she knew that she’s at the right pace right now. She pushes herself back and leans on the headboard as she waits for Yujin to sit beside her.
“Hmm..”
She can’t hold herself back from just sighing as Yujin wraps her arms around her waist. She has always loved the warmth Yujin radiates whenever they stay close to each other. But, for some reason, Yujin is feeling a little bit warmer than she usually does but the thought evades her mind when Yujin snuggles into her neck which makes her feel Yujin’s big smile on it.
Wonyoung did nothing but just mindlessly runs her fingers through Yujin’s dark brown hair. Although she likes this hair color, Wonyoung hopes that Yujin will dye her hair black again soon since black-haired Yujin reminds her of her cute 14 years old unnie—although she can’t deny that black hair also makes Yujin looks like a real grown-up with how mature she looks.
“Wonyoung-ah.”
Humming in response, Wonyoung looks down as Yujin looks up and Wonyoung swears she’s about to give their choreographer a long nagging by how Yujin’s usually bright and shiny eyes are now filled with sadness and discouragement. She hugs the latter tighter as she draws uneven circles on the back of Yujin’s.
“I don’t know why, but I was a bit emotional about ssaem’s comments today.” The shaking hands holding her waist make Wonyoung even work up but she tries to hide it, not wanting Yujin to notice her 101 plan of how to prank their choreographer so that she won’t mess with Yujin ever again.
“Did I really lack control today, Won?”
Wonyoung can’t lie but Yujin does seem like she can’t completely focus during the practice earlier, especially when she slipped and fell on her butt that one time.
“Honestly, a bit, unnie.”
“Really…”
“Yes, but I don’t think how the teacher said it to you earlier is appropriate. She could’ve worded them better, seriously!”
“I know, right?!”
Wonyoung bursts out of laughter with how cute her unnie looks right now.
“HAHAHAHA U-Unnie, why are you so cute? HAHAHAHAHA”
Yujin immediately joins her, laughing at herself.
After settling down, Wonyoung excuses herself to get some milk from the kitchen. On her way back, she stumbles upon Gaeul who is back from outside.
“Where are you from, unnie?”
“Oh, I went to the cafe nearby to get Yujin her iced vanilla latte. Can you pass it to her then, Wonyoung-ah?”
“Of course!”
Wonyoung’s heart warms at the sight of the eldest’s thoughtful act. She hopes Gaeul will know how much thankful she is that Yujin has someone older to lean on in the group. After thanking Gaeul, she went back to her room.
“Oh, where did you get the vanilla latte, Won?”
“It’s a secret~”
Wonyoung sticks out her tongue playfully, pretending to drink the vanilla latte before finally handing it to Yujin.
“Eh, this is mine?”
“Why would I give it to you if it isn’t yours, unnie?”
“But seriously, where did you get this? It’s obviously freshly made!”
“Who else if it isn’t our sunbae unnie~”
“Gaeul unnie bought this for me?”
Wonyoung chuckles at the face Yujin is making right now. It isn’t like they aren’t close at all. Heck, the three of them had known each other for more than 5 years.
“Yeah, what’s so surprising about that?’’
“I don’t know…”
“By the way, unnie, are you sure you’re okay?”
Wonyoung bites her lower lip when Yujin furrows her eyebrows.
“What do you mean?”
“It’s just that you weren’t able to focus earlier so I just thought that something must be bothering you. Wait, are you perhaps sick, unnie?!”
Wonyoung’s wild assumption gets her panicked even more when Yujin actually nods timidly.
“What? Where? Why didn’t you tell me earlier?!”
Wonyoung was scanning the older’s body up and down, front and back to check what’s making her unnie sick but is stopped when Yujin firmly holds her shoulders.
“It was a slight fever, okay? I think I’m fi—”
Wonyoung didn’t let Yujin finishes her words as she pull the older’s legs to make her lie down.
“No talking starting now, unnie. We need to get you better as soon as we can!”
Wonyoung is serious when she said that but Yujin’s laughs halt her movement.
“I know it’s weird for me to say this but why are you being so cute today, Wony?”
Wonyoung unknowingly blushes after that, quickly swatting Yujin’s remarks away figuratively with her hands before rushing out of her room to get a wet towel. No wonder the older felt a little bit warmer than usual. She shakes her head at Yujin’s attempt to be the reliable leader she already is.
^^
“Wonnie…”
Wonyoung looks up from her book, paying attention to the sick girl with a wet towel lying on her forehead.
“Yes?”
“Can I rest in my room?”
“Why? I want to take care of you.”
“No, it’s just that I’m afraid that you’ll get infected after this.”
“Unnie… The sanitizing spray exists for a reason, isn’t it?”
Wonyoung shakes her head at the foolish smile Yujin gives her.
“Okay, okay but don’t tell me that you’re going to sleep on that bean bag of yours.”
“Why? It’s comforta—”
“Wonyoung-ssi, you do realize how long you’re compared to that bean bag?”
Wonyoung nods sheepishly as she closes her book and sits on the edge of her bed.
“Then, can I sleep beside you, unnie?”
Yujin shakes her head as Wonyoung giggles because of her unnie’s cute reaction.
“Of course, no! You’ll get sick too later!”
“But, unnie is here to look after me, right?”
“Why are you being so weirdly stubborn today?”
Wonyoung pouts, pretending to be offended so that Yujin will finally give in and let them sleep together.
“Ah, don’t try to sulk, Jang Wonyoung. I rather not see you being sick than not talking to you.”
“What?! So you don’t care if I don’t talk to you??”
Wonyoung herself is surprised by the outcome.
“N-no! It’s not like that but I don’t want to see you being sick either!!”
Wonyoung watches as Yujin stumbles over her words. She decided that it was time for her to take this chance. She quickly jumps on top of the sick girl.
“WONYOUNG!!”
This alerts the other girls. They all rushed out of their respective rooms and barged in just to find the younger of the two straddling the older one.
“Excuse us but what are you guys doing?”
Wonyoung jumps out of the bed, brushing off the nonexistent dust from her sweater.
“This girl over here offered to be infected by my fever.”
Wonyoung glares at Yujin as she is feeling embarrassed by the teasing stare the other girls are giving her.
“Omo, I can’t believe I’m witnessing the Jang Wonyoung being clingy to the An Yujin again!”
Gaeul exclaims, earning the giggles from the others except for Wonyoung.
“What? Aren’t you guys concerned about Yujin unnie’s fever?”
“We knew already, Princess. We didn’t tell you because this unnie of yours told us not to.”
Rei confessed, followed by the other’s nod of agreement.
Now, Wonyoung is a bit frustrated. How many times does she need to tell Yujin that it’s okay to tell her about her hardships too? She glares intensely at the now cowering Yujin. She continues glaring while the leader discreetly tells the other to go back to their room, not forgetting to give Rei a threatening glare before changing her gaze and trying to soothe WOnyoung’s anger by giving her iconic eye smiles.
She can’t lie if she says that her heart didn’t waver a bit but she stands still, now with her arm crossed.
“Won…”
“Don’t “Won” me, unnie. Did you forget what I told you before?”
“I know but I don’t want you to wo—”
“But I want to! I want to worry about you. Don’t I have the right to do that? Are we not close enough for you to hide your fever from me?”
Wonyoung sighs as she watches how flustered Yujin is by her remarks.
“N-no! Not at all… It’s just that I don’t want to make you feels sad…”
She was planning on ignoring the other girl for a few days but looking at the sad pout Yujin is making changes her mind. She approaches the latter carefully, grabbing her hand.
Oh god, she’s trembling…
Now the frustration is seeping away, only guilt filling her body.
“Unnie…”
“Sorry, Wonyoung.”
“No, No. I’m sorry, unnie. I understand why you didn’t tell me but please tell me next time if you feel even the slightest pain, okay?”
Wonyoung hugs the older immediately after she nods her head, rubbing the back of her head.
“But now, as a punishment, let me sleep beside you, okay?”
Wonyoung pulls away from the hug just to receive Yujin’s eye rolls and defeated nod.
“Don’t blame me if you get a fever tomorrow, okay?”
“Aye, aye, captain.”
Wonyoung giggles as she prepared the bed again, finally making sure that she will sleep with Yujin's warmth tonight.
^^
“Achoo!”
Wonyoung is never going to regret sleeping with the sick Yujin last night but that teasing smirk Yujin gives her as the older put the cold towel on her forehead is urging her to give Yujin a pinch on her stomach. So, she did it, causing the latter to jump from her chair.
“Hey! What was that for?!”
Wonyoung giggles as Yujin rubs the spot she pinched. Although it’s quite uncomfortable getting sick like this but getting to cuddle Yujin to sleep is definitely worth the pain,
“Achoo!”
or maybe not.
