Summary
When a controversial but popular rising Hollywood star, Romulus, is found dead on the streets of New York City, the media is thrown into a frenzy. The suicide note in their pocket makes cryptic references to the Sanders Murder Trial 15 years prior, a case infamous among the true crime obsessed and those local to the trial despite ending in a conviction. Questions and wild accusations fly as everyone wonders why Romulus would kill themself after so many years with their tragedy behind them and everything to live for just within their grasp. Tabloids flock to search for every suspicious detail to make more and more outrageous headlines.
One true crime podcast is left piecing together the rest of the story as pressure mounts to release the last recorded interview with Romulus about the case, recorded just a week before their untimely end. Logan Croft urges the emotionally compromised Virgil Lyons to move past his grief over the celebrity's death in order to help him investigate, and together they find that the most intriguing question is simply: Who was Romulus?
The answers they find aren't exactly what anyone wants to hear.
