Work Text:

Clint put away his bow in the armory after two hours of practice and rode up in the elevator to the floor that housed Tony's garage and Bruce's lab. After looking around, Clint confirmed that neither Tony nor Bruce were present in either of the work spaces.

"J, do you know where Pippa is?" Clint asked.

"Sir and Dr. Banner haver her in the play garage," Jarvis said.

"What did Phil say about that?" Clint asked.

"I don't know if sir said anything to Mr. Coulson about it," Jarvis said.

Clint laughed. "This is going to be fun."

"I'm glad you're amused, Hawkeye," Jarvis said.

"I can't wait to see the look on Phil's face," Clint said as he let himself into the stairwell and ran down several flights of stairs to the apartment that he shared with Pippa and Phil. Letting himself into the apartment, Clint found Phil in the kitchen pouring himself a cup of black coffee.

"I thought Pippa was with you," Phil said.

"I was on the firing range," Clint said. "Tony and Bruce have her in the play garage."

"I know you said you feel like she's safe around Banner and the snow fight at Christmas went well, but--"

Clint rolled his eyes at his husband and said, "One of these days you're going to get used to living with Brice and The Hulk. You should feel secure that our daughter is protected. Are you going to come with me to the play garage and see what's going on?"

"You don't know what's going on?" Phil asked.

Clint laughed as he tried to keep his hands steady as he poured himself a cup of coffee and added cream and sugar. Clint never did understand how so many of his teammates and Phil could drink their coffee black or even their tea.. "Come on, worry wart," Clint said. "Let's go say good morning to our kid."

"You haven't seen her at all this morning?" Phil asked.

"Pip stayed with Nat last night after Nat took her to the ballet," Clint said. "You fell asleep before they got home."

"I feel like I'm never going to get better at this," Phil said, "or get used to so many people raising our daughter."

"I'm grateful to have people around her that love her so much," Clint said. "Not all kids have that. Look at my childhood. I still can't believe how bad Tony's childhood was. His parents shipped him off to boarding school when he was just a little older than Pippa. When he wasn't at boarding school he had nannies. That doesn't sound like a loving family. And you know what happened to Bruce."

"You're right," Phil said. "I know you are."

Clint rested his hand on Phil's cheek and leaned in for a kiss.

"Let's go see what our daughter is up to," Phil said.

Clint and Phil rode up to the floor where the play garage was housed.

Phil smiled as Clint wrapped his arms around him from behind and rested his chin on his shoulder. When the elevator doors opened, Natasha was standing there waiting.

Clint stuck his hand in the elevator door so they could speak to Nat.

"Is everything okay?" Phil asked, noticing that Pippa wasn't with her.

"I'm going to go for a run with Steve," Natasha said. "Pippa is still playing with The Hulk."

"What are they doing?" Phil asked.

"I'm not going to spoil it," Natasha said. "You've got to see it for yourself."

"Have a good run," Clint said. "I'll make brunch when you get back."

"Sounds like a plan," Natasha said.

Clint and Phil walked down the hall to see what was going on in the play garage as Natasha rode down in the elevator.

Clint took Phil's hand and kissed the back of his knockles when the entered the play garage.

"I know," Phil said, laughing as he watched Pippa blow bubbles at The Hulk, who was sitting cross-legged on the floor and Tony, who was leaning against him, "you told me so."
