Eddie groaned and moved his palm over his eyes to cover from the harsh sun light that shone in from the trailer windows.
His other hand traveled out of the mattress to find Steve, but he quickly realized that he was alone.
He shouldn’t really be surprised. And he wasn’t. He tried to swallow down his disappointment and mustered up enough energy to sit up.
That’s how it always was. He’d bring some guy home to spend the night, and they always snuck out when he had fallen asleep.
Usually it was with guys he didn’t really care about, so he didn’t mind. But even with guys he thought he had an actual connection with, he had soon realized he was only good for one thing. At least in their eyes. And after a certain amount of times, he guessed in his own eyes too.
With Steve though.. it was different, he thought. They were more than physical. At least he thought that all of this hadn’t just been so Steve could get him into bed.
He wiped a hand over his face and tried to convince himself it didn’t matter that Steve wasn’t there. Whatever he was to Steve, it didn’t matter it didn’t matter it didn’t matter.. Shit, he was usually better at lying to himself. He just didn’t want his uncle, Wayne, to pick up on him being down and worry about him.
He ran a hand through his hair when he heard voices and frowned. He quickly threw on some clothes before he walked out into the RV living space.
And there was Steve. He leaned on a kitchen counter, a tower of pancakes behind him, and the last one in the frying pan. He had a kitchen towel thrown over his shoulder, and was talking to Eddie's uncle, who was sitting by the kitchen table.
For a moment Eddie figured he hallucinated. No way Steve Harrington was in his shit kitchen, socializing with his uncle, cooking breakfast.
They noticed his presence, and Steve looked at him with a grin. “Good morning,” he said before he turned back to the stove.
His uncle got out of his chair and walked up to him and moved a hand over his shoulder and squeezed it gently. “You found a good one,” He said to Eddie in a low tone who smiled, still in disbelief over this whole thing.
Wayne smiled at him before he headed for the front door. “You’re not staying? There’s more than enough pancakes..” Steve said but Wayne shook his head.
“Thanks, but I’m going for a walk.. I’ll give you two some space,” he said before he walked outside and closed the door.
Eddie looked around the kitchen. The table was already set, coffee on the table and he looked back at Steve who had turned off the stove and turned to him.
“You made me pancakes?” He asked stunned. Steve nodded and moved them to the table.
“You like pancakes right? I figured it was a safe bet.” Steve said casually. Eddie swallowed before he moved forward and grabbed a hold of Steve's shirt and pulled him closer, and into a kiss. Steve kissed him back slowly before he parted.
“What was that for?” He asked and Eddie grinned.
“You stayed.”
