Work Text:
Grian and Taurtis were walking through town, walking past shops. Taurtis had Grian's hand grasped in his own, swinging it back and forth as he spoke about his day spent with Sam.
"Sam buyed glitter!! An' I had glue an when he was s'eepin i putted it in his hair!" Taurtis was speaking very quickly, tripping over his words.
"He gots so mad and chased me!!! His face was so so red, Gri!"
Grian nodded, not understanding most of what Taurtis had said, but he was glad the other had fun with Sam. He just hoped Sam wasn't too mad about the glitter. That much, he had understood.
Taurtis suddenly pulled his hand away from Grian, running ahead and pointing at something.
Grian chased after him, shouting "slow down!"
Taurtis didn't listen, obviously.
He ran ahead, shouting something Grian couldn't quite make out. Grian was about to catch up when Taurtis lost his balance, falling to the cement and face planting.
Grian caught up, crouching down. "Are you alright?"
Taurtis looked up, eyes wide. He pushed himself up onto his knees, nodding.
"Mhm!" He stood up, unbalanced and wobbly.
"Lookit!" He pointed to the shop in front of them.
In the window, Grian saw a set of dress up wings meant for young children.
Taurtis was pointing at them excitedly, speaking quickly and flapping his hands, jumping up and down as he pointed at a shop window.
"Wings!!" He tugged on Grian's sleeve.
"What do you say?" Grian raised an eyebrow. Just because he wasn't actually raising a child didn't mean he wasn't going to teach him manners.
Taurtis stuck his bottom lip out in a pout, his eyes wide. "Pweaaaaase?"
Grian smiled, ruffling Taurtis's hair. "Alright, go pick one out."
Taurtis gasped and ran inside, almost knocking a stand over as he ran to pull a set down.
He ran up to Grian, holding his prize out excitedly so Grian could go pay for it.
Grian handed the cashier the money, taking the wings.
He helped Taurtis slip them on his arms, smiling at how excited Taurtis got once they were on.
The whole way home, Taurtis was flapping his arms like bird wings, shouting how he was a fairy princess.
