It's storming out, maybe you should come inside
And tell me why you don't wanna be alive
If you don't respond, I'll put my shoes on
And lay down on the pavement next to you
"Are you alright?" Taurtis was standing next to Grian, looking down. Grian was laying down on the pavement in front of their house.
It was raining. Grian didn't seem to care much, his clothes getting wet while small droplets landed on his face.
Grian didn't answer, frowning as he looked up at Taurtis. Taurtis couldn't figure out how Grian was feeling, but he knew it couldn't be good.
Taurtis hummed, thinking for a moment. He then moved to lay down next to Grian.
Grian turned to look at him. He didn't say anything, just watching.
Taurtis reached down, taking Grian's hand in his. He squeezed it lightly.
Grian reacted to this, humming softly.
-
If we get struck at least we'll make the news
A bolt of lightning struck, it was quickly accompanied by thunder. Grian jumped at the sound, but made no move to get up.
It was like he was content to be drowned out by the storm, wanting to be washed away.
Taurtis decided he was going to stay until Grian felt better enough to move.
-
In the mud, sinking down
Thinking of everything I have to think about
Grian was lost in thoughts when Taurtis had walked up to him. He was thinking about a lot of things.
Everything had felt like so much recently. It was overwhelming, he couldn't breathe.
It felt like he was drowning, unable to save himself.
So, he came outside. Away from Sam's nagging, his insensitive comments that made Grian want to dig himself into a hole.
People could be mean sometimes, even about things he couldn't control.
Sam had made an especially nasty comment. He said Grian spoke too much, calling his voice annoying. He said that Grian should stop talking, how it would be enjoyable for everyone if he just shut up for once.
Grian decided to take his advice.
Silence surrounded him, as the streets were surprisingly empty.
-
You shut me up, look at the clouds
"Grian." Grian turned his head, looking over at Taurtis.
"Look. The rain stopped." Taurtis lifted his free hand up, pointing at the sky.
Grian followed his arm, looking up at the sky.
He still didn't speak, but he listened as Taurtis started talking about how the clouds looked like different animals and items.
A soft smile made its way onto his face.
-
Maybe on a sunny day
You might have some things to say
But if you don't, that's okay
"Grian?" Grian looked over, blinking.
When did he fall asleep?
The warm sun that had shown up after the rain had been comforting as it dried his hair and his clothes. He had somehow fallen asleep.
Taurtis hadn't left.
"Are you alright?" Grian shook his head.
Taurtis thought for a moment. "Are you… better?"
Grian stared, silent. He then nodded.
Taurtis stood up, holding his hand out.
Grian took it, immediately pulling Taurtis into a hug.
Taurtis rubbed Grian's back comfortingly as the other cried into his chest.
It took a while, but Grian eventually stopped crying. He took in a shuddered breath, looking up at Taurtis through watery eyes.
"Thank you." Taurtis smiled, nodding.
"Anytime."
