Lea’s tail twitched as she heard the door to the bathroom open. Other than that, she did not move. She knew not how long she had sat there, curled up into herself within the bathtub, but it was long enough that the water had gone from near scalding hot to tepid at best.
“Lea?”
She did not respond.
Slow steps crossed the threshold into the bathroom, and the door was shut carefully behind them. She did not try to stop Kamui from entering. She knew he would be the most considerate of their group at the moment. Although even if she did not want him there, she doubted she had the will in her to let him know.
The fellow Raen was silent as he knelt beside the bathtub and dipped a finger in to test the temperature. He was silent as he removed it and dried it on the cloth of his skirt. And he was quiet for a minute after as he contemplated what to do.
“Do you want me to wash your hair for you?”
Lea’s whole body tensed. Nails digging into her skin as she palmed her scales. Tail curling and swirling around her ankles as she gave it thought. Kamui knew what she was likely going through. He had seen her in this state before. Yet he had not done anything before. Although that likely was because he didn’t know what to do. Who could?
Slowly but surely, she let her body ease up, if only a little bit, nodding as she raised her head enough above the water so that Kamui would be able to reach for any stray strands that tried to escape his care. She knew she did not have to speak if she didn’t want to, and that Kamui would not push her for anything in turn, and right now, that was all she needed.
