“So what am I to you?”
The question earned Kamui a raised brow and smug smile as the ancient before him shrugged lazily, “Why whatever do you mean by that?”
Kamui leaned against the wall to face Emet-Selch as he continued to redress himself, “Tis plain to me that whatever- or rather, who ever I was before the world became sundered meant much to you. Why else would you seek me out over the others? Why else would you permit me to ask you so much of the world before you deemed it broken? I doubt you would grace me with the details of who I was back then- and while I will not deny that I am curious, I do not wish to shatter the fragile bridge I have to the knowledge you hold by dropping a brick on it that- in the grand scheme of things- means nothing to me. So instead I want to know: what am I to you?”
It’s almost entertaining to Kamui to watch the emotions move through Emet’s eyes. As though he’s been shown yet another window to a world he doesn’t - and never will - understand. Yet the curtains on the window are swiftly drawn, and Emet’s face became the mask that Kamui had seen him wear every time he appeared before the Scions. “You are a pawn and nothing else. I know not what you think you see during these private mingles, but I assure you that it is nothing - just like you and yours are nothing to me but pawns to reach my goal.”
The Ascian left through a portal immediately after he ended his reply, leaving Kamui, once again, to ponder if what he was doing was right, as he tied his hair back and looked about the abandoned church the two had taken as their private meeting grounds. Were there any right choices to make at all?
