Work Text:
How 47 ended up with a random stranger dressed in black robes, he has no clue. He only remembers trying to plan his ideal date with Diana (their first official date, no less), and some curses were muttered in the limited Greek he had picked up during his recent mission in Athens.
"Ahh, if it isn't 47 himself! Big fan of your work. Gave us quite a handful down there in the Underworld. But hearing how those souls arrived there... Ah, good show! But that's not the reason I'm here."
47 stares at him. "Who are you?"
The man only laughs. "Hades, lord of the Underworld, my friend. Now, I've heard you need help with a certain someone?"
47 watches as the god seemingly plucks an object out of thin air and hands it to him, its weight heavy in his hands.
"Here, hand her this. And also count how many seeds she eats. That'll show how much she likes you."
47 was very confused about how a pomegranate would show Diana's love for him. Also, how did he get it out of the air?
"Really, the pomegranate trick again? At least it's better than a kidnapping."
How on earth did someone else get into his safehouse? 47 was sure he had triple checked his way in. Now, he didn't know what to believe was true anymore.
A woman steps up to the pair, a crown of hydrangeas adorning her head as her dress flows behind her, almost as if floating in the air.
"Persephone, my love. Flower of my life. He asked for my help-"
"I thought we agreed I would help as well, did we not?"
Well, if her help was better than Hades, then who was he to argue?
"Hades, darling. Let me handle this. You're scaring the poor soul."
The Underworld god only shuffles away to let his wife take over. The spring goddess only watches 47, the uncomfortable feeling from earlier washing away the longer she stares at him.
"You really care for her," Persephone finally says. "After all the hard times you've both been through."
47 can only help but nod.
She takes the pomegranate from him. "All you need to do is be yourself, my child. She's known you for this long and hasn't denied you even once. There's no need to win her over or grant her gifts. Unlike some people." She spares a glance at Hades.
Hades shrugs in defeat. "You said you liked pomegranates. Cerberus was just added to that deal."
The goddess laughs before turning back to 47. "She cares for you as you are. There's no need to change that. Now, I believe it's time for you to wake up."

After that odd dream on the plane trip home, 47 decides to stop by the flower shop on his way to Diana's current location. He picks up a small bouquet of hydrangeas and a mint plant, the latter at the shopkeeper's insistence.
The shopkeeper watches as 47 departs from her small shop, not failing to notice the ghost of a smile on his lip.
"Ah, young love," she sighs. "The hydrangeas were a good choice."
A man emerges from the back room, wiping his hands clean. "I still think the pomegranate was a good option for him. Also, did you really have to give him Minthe as an extra?"
The woman shrugs. "You know how I felt about her. One less worry for the both of us. Plus, you know how they are. A gift like that is right up their alley."
The man can only shake his head, smiling at his wife. Only she would think gifting the enemy was an endearing act of love.
