Work Text:
There’s much to be said but nobody to say it. Some eyes were closed. Others were open. Some lips moved in inaudible prayer. Others remained shut.
Everyone within the manor sat at a single table, yet the room still felt empty. How, one might ask, when the missing piece had never been present to begin with?
One, two, three- Fifteen. Fifteen people sat at the table, much like they always did. But clearly, something is wrong. Gone are the cheery greens and the pinks and the blues of their outfits, replaced now with a sullen black.
Gone are their smiles of delight, the pastries they cherished, the looks of annoyance one usually found within the room.
Because gone forever was the rare sight of a child wandering in search of caffeine. Gone forever was banging and the cursing uncomfortably audible through the walls. Gone forever was someone who had fought alongside them in their ranks, risking his life for theirs. And now they would never get a chance to fix their mistakes.
The clock spun on the wall. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. On. And on. And on. And on.
The seconds turned into minutes. The minutes to hours, the hours to days.
Red hair became white, smiles became frowns, and white eyes were painted black.
