Chapter Text
I grab Jesper's arm, my nails digging into his skin. I should be worried that I'm hurting him, but all rationality had left me when... when...
But now he's dead. The once bright and clever eyes — familiar eyes I didn't even know I knew so well until today — left glassy and faded. No, not faded exactly. The fear is still in them, his broken jaw elongated into a never-ending scream.
That sickening crack of his neck still rings in my ears. It's left a bulge of bone sticking out of the soft skin of his neck. One of thirty-three vertebrae snapped to result into this.
Blood — hot, dark, and iron — spills onto the cement floor. Erratically, I imagine it flooding the room, taking me down with it.
Oh Saints, I just killed a man.
Kuwei is so going to kill me.
