Work Text:

People have faith in it for centuries. Nevertheless, when it comes to love, it is a contentious one. Sakura always believe that human beings were just as complex, like coins with two diverse sides. No one is an out-and-out protagonist and vice versa. Sakura tried to perceive from another standpoint, Nanase’s. A woman who fell, immensely, in love with her.

A chapter reveals that Furukawa Nanase only loved one woman, Shinomiya Sakura. Even when she departed this life and reincarnated as Sakura Miko, her love never died, until time drove her as she also reincarnated as Hoshimachi Suisei and their encounter happened. Sadly, Miko got engaged to Haachama, the Princess of the Red Heart Kingdom, because Haachama won a gamble.

After Suisei noticed her true love became someone else’s, she had two routes: she let her go or tried to retain her at any cost, even if she had to breathe her last. She opted for the latter. She kidnapped and seized her to Hoshimachi Kingdom, where she treated her as a princess. Although she had the power, she never forced Miko to love her. In fact, Suisei didn’t even touch her.

Suisei was mindful; she couldn’t push a true love. Instead of shoving, she waited. Because waiting was the best thing she could do, Suisei didn’t want to upset Miko. Hence, she could love her rightly. Even though she knew Sakura’s reincarnation was always faithful to her fiancée, Suisei believed, one day, her dream would come true.

Every single day, Suisei dropped in to see Miko. She delivered her inestimable love songs. Most of the time, Suisei apologized and expressed her regret because she kidnapped her. All of this was done in the hope that Miko would recall their previous lives together and accept her invitation to be her princess, the one and only much-loved woman. Regrettably, all the time, Miko turned her down.

When hearts speak, nothing interferes. No matter how vicious Suisei was, Miko could sense her truthful compassion. When Miko was there, Suisei changed. She became warmhearted and charming; for that reason, Hoshimachi kingdom was cozy and peaceful.

Then, Suisei's songs started to allure Miko, gently. Even their interaction had changed to be more casual and sweet, from "Hoshimachi-san" and "Sakura-san" to "Sui-chan" and "Miko-chi."

On the other side, Miko didn’t want to cross her fiancée. Three years had passed, but, Haachama had not saved her.

Why?

Did her love fade away?

Then, one day, the two souls talked, in silence.

”Miko-chi, don’t you love me? Don’t you remember me? Furukawa Nanase; a person you loved, in the past, until I passed away?”

”In all honesty, I love you too, Sui-chan. But, I am engaged to Haachama. If you love me, please stop all of this, please....” She pleaded her weepily.

Miko's words entranced Suisei like a magic spell. Suisei had spent all of her life waiting for those lines.

“Well, Miko-chi, if that is what you want, then, I will do a Tetris duel with Haachama. If she defeats me, I will return you to her."

When Haachama arrived with her barrel, Suisei confronted her audaciously. She roared.

“Haachama! I love Miko-chi and I will do everything to get her. I love her with all my heart. She is the love of my life!"

"Unlike you; you want to marry her because you won a gamble. Everything I did, which you call a mess, was my attempt to regain my true love.”

Thus, the war began. With the help of a tarantula who bites Suisei during a Tetris battle, Haachama triumphed over Suisei, she broke her DT canon and slashed her. Then, Miko-chi came back to Haachama's custody.

Filled with joy, Miko ran hastily to embrace Haachama. However, opposed to her wish, Haachama didn’t greet her as she expected. Haachama even had a sneaking suspicion, probably, Miko cheated with Suisei. Miko persistently claimed she didn’t deceive her and Suisei never touched her. But then, Haachama distrusted her.

Miko was in despair; hence, she jumped into a scorching fire to prove her devotion, but it couldn’t take her life. Her righteousness saved her. After Haachama saw it, she finally believed in Miko.

Now, there was only one thing left: Suisei's spirit. It cried, full of desolation. Why did fate choose Haachama? Suisei's power was way beyond Haachama's. She would have won if Haachama had played fair. Why did Miko choose a woman who doubted her devoutness? Why did Miko want to be together with a woman who act unfairly? In contrast, regardless of her condition, Suisei would love Miko forevermore.

Somewhere, in a dark corner, there was the noise of a woman who was crying. Miko sobbed sofly. Her tears flooded ceaselessly.

Suisei didn’t live in the world Miko lived in; Suisei didn’t exhale the air Miko breathed.

The shining star, who loves the cherry blossom unconditionally, perished.

In the beginning, I wanted to make Haachama lose the battle.
However, where is the angst if that happens?
