Work Text:
Four months had passed since Emma’s birth and she still wasn’t sleeping through the night. The pack had quickly learned the bad thing about having an easy baby for your first baby was it makes a normal baby like Emma seem extreme in comparison. It was an average night, the clock had just hit one when the pack woke up to Emma crying. It was Joel’s turn to soothe her so he got up out of bed and made his way into the nursery. He was surprised when he saw a small figure enter into the nursery. He blinked and rubbed his eyes before stepping into the room and turning on the light. There, making her way to the crib, was Esteri, with her Tommi bear in hand.
“Esteri?” He asked.
“Hi Isä,” she said with a yawn.
“What are you doing in here, little star?” Joel asked.
Esteri pointed to the crib. “Sissy cryin.”
Joel’s heart ached with love. “That’s right, your sister’s crying. Did you come to comfort her?”
Esteri nodded.
Joel smiled. “Let me take care of her and then you can comfort her, okay?”
Esteri nodded again and followed Joel to the crib. Joel picked up Emma and winced at the smell of her poopy diaper.
“Oh you need a diaper change, Princess,” he said. “No wonder you’re crying.”
Esteri followed Joel as he carried Emma over to the changing table. He unbuttoned the bunny covered onesie and took off her diaper. He cleaned her up and put her in a fresh one. Emma’s cries quieted to hiccups and Joel kissed her chubby cheek.
“Do you want to give her a kiss, little star?” Joel asked.
Esteri shook her head and pointed to the crib.
“You wanna cuddle in the crib with Emma?” Joel asked.
Esteri nodded. “Emma,” she said.
“Okay baby, okay,” Joel agreed.
He set Emma back in her crib and then put Esteri in. Esteri wrapped an arm around her sister and gave her teddy bear to her little sister.
“You’re doing such a good job of sharing, Esteri,” Joel praised her. “You’re such a good big sister.”
Esteri smiled and closed her eyes.
Joel took a picture of his daughters, cuddled up together in his youngest’s crib and sent it to the group chat with his mates. He didn’t want any of them missing this sweet moment.
