Leo hastily slams his hand against the button attached to his chest the escape pod promptly launching him towards the agape portal wavering from the sudden impact to his lower back, Leo forces his legs to carry him through the crumbling terrain his feet tapping on the concrete like a rapid heartbeat the frigid material oozing up Leos torso causing him to shudder. His limbs ached, cramping from fear and, maybe, some part of himself was begging him to evaluate the situation, figure out the best angle, come up with some kind of plan, Leo swiftly buries any logical interjections from his head, logic wasn't what he needed all he needed to do was take the key before the Krang's even noticed it was missing.
Leo abruptly came to a halt as one of the Krang's take ahold of his ankle its tentacles hardening restraining the blood flow to Leo's foot he attempts to shake his ankle free of its grasp but the movement only manages to help the Krang further wrap its pulsing limbs around his skin he winces making no attempt to stop and check the damages or loosen the death-binding grip only narrowing his eyes in the direction of the key, he jerks himself forwards against the Krang's blade like limbs like a desperate victim trying to escape a hungry predator, clawing desperately at the cracks within the concrete to pull himself towards the catalyst of the portal. Leo hauls himself atop the decaying hilt in which the key lay unfazed by the chaos he desperately wraps his fist onto the stump of the key digging the tips of his fingers onto any exposed material the Krang yanking Leo's ankle in a fit of desperation dragging Leo backward he staggers as his balance is thrown off entirely landing on his stomach the key wrenched from its dormant state causing the portal to collapse in on itself a blinding pink light painting the room as the rift settles, Leo glues the key to his chest as if it would slip out of his fingers the second he even slightly loosened his grip he could feel the crevices within the cold surface of the concrete etching long grazes into his lower stomach.
The tentacle softens as it slips off Leo's ankle slithering back to the host. Leo shoves his stomach off the ground flipping himself towards the Krang attempting to appear threatening halfway off the floor and with scratches engraving his features firmly gripping one hand on the key. Leo slowly takes in the reality around him as he calms down from his adrenaline rush slowly regaining the feeling in his legs as his ankle starts to pulse in rapid succession. The Krang hauls itself from its position using its tentacles as a means of balance an atrocious grin spread across its face as it narrows its sights on Leo, leaping forward from its position sharpening its tentacle accordingly and ruthlessly hurling it towards Leo's skull.
Leo's whole body freezes as his eyes widen he tenses holding the key tightly with a shaky breath wrapping it to his chest as a form of comfort, the intense ringing in his ears growing louder he barely makes out the patter of thumping feet advancing towards his direction his head flickers up towards the vibration Raph hastily extending his limbs out in front of Leo clenching his fist defensively. Arching his body around Leo like a carefully threaded cocoon, focusing his gaze upon Leo his brows furrowing as his eyes invoke an unspoken final plea of desperation. Leos pupils dilate as he registers Raph's intentions as the dryness in Leo's throat that had been developing ever since he pressed the button on his escape pod suddenly became unbearable clawing its way up his gullet and through the interior of his lungs.
"RAPH DON'T-"
Leo's entire body pulses like a guttural sob exerting every last bit of his despair into forcing himself to do something anything.
He kicks Raph hard in the ribs causing Raph to stumble his eyes widen as he falters nearly falling atop Leo.
The tentacle lurches forward in a horrific motion scraping the outskirts of Raph's shell and penetrating Leo's plastron through his collarbone and ripping through his shell sounding an excruciating crack leaving a bloodcurdling echo throughout the building.
Leo lets out a guttural scream his voice cracking as he tightens his fist forcing out an exacerbated inhale and holding it there, his hands flinch up to the tentacle holding him rigid to the ground gasping and clawing for air in his lungs as it leaves him like a vacuum.
"No no no- LEO!"
Raph hovers over his younger brother reaching his hands towards him ensuring his delicacy as Leo grasps for any sort of lifeline clasping his hands around the outskirts of his wound Raph wraps his arms around Leo holding him as tight as possible without hurting him as if he could stop the bleeding just by holding him close. Leo weakly pawing his hands at Raph's chest, the snapper wrestles the urge to let out a deafening sob as he leans his head into Leo's shoulder lifting him slightly up to his chest ensuring not to harm him while the tentacle still hold stagnant within his little brother.
"I've got you Leo, I swear, I've got you."
The Krang lets out a coo as it tilts its head to the side
"Brotherly love how adorable... and entirely predictable" leaning a sneer into its tone.
Raph glues his brother to his body squeezing a little harder, a soft whimper exiting Leo's frame as the Krang's voice comes into hearing distance. Every part of Leo's body felt like it was being pressed down with a weight a thousand times his own, but despite that he attempts to push his brother off him with a weak grunt only managing to press a soft, shaky palm atop Raph's chest.
"Get out of here Raph…" Leo chokes out contradicting his body language as he unconsciously clutches onto his older brother embracing him into every fiber of his shaking limbs, fighting the urge to give into a blood-induced coughing fit as he clasps his fist as tightly as he could manage.
"Not happening Leo." Raph almost breaks down into anguished cries his stomach developing a gaping hole at the fragility of his brother's body his speech croaking and cracking as his sentences lagged behind his moving lips, he just felt so... so cold, so much more small and frail than the massive presence he typically emitted, what Raph wouldn't give for a stupid pun or joke right now. this has to be a dream this couldn't be happening. It just couldn't.
"Oh spare me the dramatics" A sarcastic grin tugging on the ends of the Krang's lips extending its limb out carefully towards Raph graciously caressing the exterior of his shell a shudder escaping his body despite his best attempts to suppress it. He feels the Krang's eyes drift upon him and Leo as it delicately lays a fleshy limb upon the graze on Raph's shell a malicious smirk spread across its face, Raph would huddle Leo closer if it were possible.
Abruptly the Krang entangles a second limb around Leo's lower torso entwining around his arms as Leo meticulously positions the key just out of its grasp the Krang continues to twist its limbs around Leo's anatomy squeezing his legs in a tight lock Leo squirms under the pressure Raph panics as he clings the tips of his fingers into the non-delicate part of Leos shell fixating on Leos fragility, enclosing his frame around him never taking his eyes off his face. Raph watches Leo weep as the Krang takes a firmer grasp upon his frame the added pressure kneading bruises into his ribs his face constricts as tears forcefully prick the corners of his eyes continuing to squirm and fight despite everything making it increasingly difficult for Raph not to breakdown into muffled sobs.
The Krang wenches Leo's body from under him, Raph squeezes his eyes shut as his hands slip off his brother's body shattered pieces of Leo's shell scrape across the floor as he is yanked upwards, Raph curls his fingers around Leo's ankle as a last fit of desperation his limbs popping and straining under the hopelessness of it all.
"Your determination is admirable" The Krang scoffs as it rips Leo out of Raph's palms Raph pointlessly flailing his limbs in Leo's direction "...But ultimately useless." Leo grunts as his joints threaten to crackle under The Krang's ruthlessness, his legs dangling uselessly as the Krang holds him in the air presenting him like a delicate toy littered with stitches and grown rotten with age, his wound throbbing and pulsing violently making his head feel as if it was being bashed in with a hammer. He just wants to curl into himself and disappear, he can't even accept his death because of the Krang's blade-like limb still lodged forcefully within his chest like an uncomfortably large syringe, not that he would want to die anyway, the horrified look on Raph's face as Leo kicked him was enough to keep him going, to ensure he'd never see it again for as long as he lives.
If he lives through this that is.
So he hangs at the mercy of the Krang fighting the urge to scream out in agony sweat threatening to drip down his temples as he watches his blood trickle down the crevices of the Krang's appendages his vision growing weary and thin with each new breath.
"I'll be taking this, you've had your fun." The Krang extends a new appendage towards Leo's brittle grip upon the key slipping its limbs under each one of Leo's fingers and snapping them back past his palms with a sickening crunch! Leo hyperventilates as a painful shriek exits his lungs his stomach infinitely tightening as tears pathetically lace the brim of his cheeks. The Krang fiddles with the key in its limbs dangling it teasingly in Leo's trajectory Leo doesn't even look up his head hanging low as he bites down on his lip taking sharp breaths through his clenched teeth.
"STOP!" Raph cries out gathering the strength in his limbs as he tries to reach out for his little brother but his ankle hold rigid to the floor the Krang slithers up Raph's leg tightening him in an unbreakable lock. Raph watches Leo's frantic breaths and quiet whimpers echo within the hall the prolonged silence after each sharp inhale was unbearable.
He wanted to scoop his brother up and promise him everything was going to be okay, but he wasn't sure it would be.
"Don't be so dramatic I ensured not to break anything too important I need him for my purposes after all." If the ringing weren't so violent in Leos's ears maybe he would have acted more outwardly to a statement like that, but alas when you're stabbed through the chest it isn't exactly easy to pay attention to your surroundings. The Krang chuckles as he nonchalantly rubs Leos head like a lost puppy Leo flinches violently sinking in on himself his temples sending an overwhelming tension all throughout his body, flickering his sights on his older brother Leo sees Raph's eyes encapsulate utter distress, tears wedging themselves within the crevices of his features, an overwhelming sense of hopelessness spread across his dementor as he uselessly palms the floor under Leo.
"Purposes?" Raph mouths, clenching the floor so violently he felt as if it might crack under his fingertips.
A villainous glare glazes the Krang's ghastly features as he makes eye contact with Raph.
Leo panics as his vision starts to flicker he felt as if he was drowning, scrambling to stay afloat but the tides were vigorously trying to pull him under, with each new tidal wave it grew higher and higher until it dragged him so deep he couldn't even make it back to the surface in time, except there was no tide, just the Krang's blood-soaked claws etching themselves into his sickly pale skin. He couldn't stop his head from slumping against the Krang's grasp the feeling of its tentacles encompassing a deep nauseous feeling within Leo's throat as darkness engulfs his vision a last soft whimper escaping his brittle lungs.
"Leo?" Raph's voice crumbles weakly as his brother's limp body hold victim to the Krang's malicious grasp.
"Hero types like you claim to know strength but in the face of danger you crumble." It gestures a nonchalant tentacle towards Raph's frame. "Your brother made a reckless decision and it almost got him killed, would you call that strength?" Fiddling with the key as if to send some sort of message, it raises an eyebrow as it patiently waits for a response but Raph's vocal cords fail him as his body shrivels under its gaze.
"Pathetic, I'm done with you I got what I wanted. You have no business here"
The Krang glares at Raph, paying him no mind as it turns to leave, slithering its limbs off Raph's ankle. Raph quickly regains his footing in a fit of panic seizing the opportunity to race towards his unconscious little brother lifting out his arms as if he were to catch him making no mind of the tears quickly regaining their shape and splitting down the sides of his face his whole body tensing as his brother groans in his sleep as the Krang moves its body and by extension Leo.
The Krang harshly grips the key extending a thin limb out towards the place holder positioning the key back In its hilt the portal explodes in a fit as the key slides into place making a rift within the air as it forms again extending its glow to the end of the hall. The wind from the portal pushes Raph backward as he fights against it holding his arm up to his forehead to shield his eyes from the winds, staggering as violent sobs strain his vocal cords eyeing his younger brother desperately as the distance between them grows. The Krang furrows its brow turning its head watching Raph as he continues his futile attempts at reclaiming his brother growing unimpressed by his pathetic state, the Krang hurls the non-edged part of his limb towards Raph's stomach effectively winding him, knocking him completely off balance Raph curls in on himself as he is flung across the dusty hall smashing his head violently through the concrete wall landing on the wreckage as the night winds hit the edge of his face etching pins and needles into his body as the Krang entwines its limbs around any open edges around the building ensuring no entry as Raph is completely cut off from his brother hastily standing up as the rubble crumbles around his sudden movement, slamming an angry fist against the Krang's sturdy limbs acting as an impenetrable force stopping him from stealing his brother back and tearing it to shreds for even thinking about laying its horrific limbs upon his brother.
Raph inhales deeply as the tears continue to form on his soaked cheeks his hands sliding off the Krang's limbs in defeat as he tightly grips his fist his nails digging into his palms angrily as blood silently seeps from his palms, his adrenaline slowly calming down as he takes in the sounds of the bustling city streets, regaining control of his thoughts, he's the leader he couldn't be making rash decisions that would cost the team they just lost one member they couldn't risk losing another. Rushing in to get Leo back wouldn't help anyone they'd only get hurt. A deep sigh exits Raph's frame, he felt so small.
Leo was probably terrified and as much as he wanted to stay as close as he could to his brother's side, if he ever wanted to get him back he needed his team to devise some sort of plan.
And so he attaches the small escape pod device to his chest as it encloses on his frame watching the building drift from his vision as he is sent towards the sewers.
