“I am not even an agent,” he said, as if Jones wasn’t fully aware of that. The agent nodded, a knowing smile on his lips that told Chan the agent had expected him to say that.
“Which is why it will be a private unit for the FBI. And not of the FBI. We don’t imagine it to be a common special unit. You are free to pick the members.”
Then with a click of his tongue, he added. “Apart from one.”
From the stack of files on his right, Jones pulled out one, flipping it open to make sure it was the right one.
The open file was pushed in front of him and back at him stared the mug shot of a boy just around his age. Chan didn’t even read the file before his eyes shot back up.
“A criminal? You want a criminal in an FBI special unit?”
“We want a unit with insiders. A unit that knows how different industries on the wrong side of the law work and how to get into them. With connections, the absolute best."
or: Chan is made to be in charge of a unit to work for the FBI, filled with criminals and FBI dropouts. A mix that shouldn't go well together but it only takes their first case to realise that maybe they have more in common than they thought
