"Omg Billy the food here is incredible, here try abit of this steak it's to die f-"
"Steve, we need to break up"
Steve and Billy sat in there favourite restaurant that they went too once a week for there date night, it usually always ended with them going back to Steve's house and making out while fucking for the night but tonight it was going to take a different turn, as Steve now sat with a piece of steak in his mouth as Billy broke up with him
"What?"
"We need to break up"
"But.. But why i don't understand, Billy what's going on?"
"Look! I don't want to be with you anymore okay! It's over end off"
Billy jumped up from his seat throwing down fifty dollars on the table as he stormed out the restaurant leaving Steve alone and heartbroken, he looked around as people were now staring at him with sympathy on their faces, he discreetly spat the piece of steak out of mouth onto a napkin and got up from the table walking out of the restaurant, he looked around the car park for Billy but he already left leaving Steve stranded so he called a cab and headed back home were he went straight to his room and screamed into his pillow not caring how loud he was being as there was no one in the house with him.
He didn't sleep that night tossing and turning his brain not letting him sleep, he tried calling Billy over and over again even texting him but he was just constantly ignored he didn't even have the decency to open his messages, he got out of bed the next morning after finally falling asleep for 2 hours and made himself a coffee as he sat on the couch just staring at the blank TV in front of him, he was so lost that he didn't even hear his front door knock until someone burst inside and he watched Dustin walk into the house talking to him until he was stood in front of him
"Steve, what the hell, i've been calling and texting you all night, why have you been ignoring me- holy shit are you OK? You look like shit?"
Steve mumbled something under his breath
"What?"
"BILLY BROKE UP WITH ME!!!! HE JUST LEFT ME IN THE RESTAURANT SAID WE NEEDED TO BREAK UP! OKAY HAPPY NOW!!"
"Oh, Steve"
Dustin walked over and sat beside Steve as the boy fell into his lap crying his eyes out, Dustin gently stroked his hair as he tried soothing him to calm him down, he sat with him for awhile before finally breaking away to use the bathroom were he secretly called Robin
"Robin hey, look we have a code red"
"Shit... What happened?"
"Apparently Billy broke up with Steve last night, he's not taking it too well"
"Okay, i'll be straight over"
Dustin headed back downstairs and found Steve now standing in his kitchen drinking down a bottle of whiskey straight from the bottle, he ran over taking it out of his hands
"No, no no, we are not going there Steve"
"Give it back"
Steve had already drunken half of the bottle in the space of 5 minutes and he was basically drunk
"Dustinnnnnnn, give it backkkkkkk"
"No Steve! Do not do this to yourself, he's not worth it"
"The fuck do you know huh! You know nothing about our relationship, so fuck off huh get the fuck out of my house go on get out!"
"Steve look i'm sorry just listen to me-"
"GET OUT!!!!"
Dustin jumped back in fright, he's known Steve for years and never has he seen him like this he placed the bottle back on the counter and ran out of the house, he got as far as the front gates when Robin pulled up in her car as she frowned when she saw Dustin's already red puffy eyes
"Hey, what happened?"
"He's bad like really bad, he shouted at me"
Robin took his hand gently and brought him back in the house as she saw Steve slumped on the kitchen floor drinking, she stormed over to him snatching the bottle from his hand as she slapped him across the face
"Hey! What the fuck!"
"Listen i know your heart broken right now Steve and i'm sorry i really am, i want to help you i do but if you ever raise your voice or speak to that boy like you did ever again i will kick your ass you understand me?"
Steve gently nodded as he burst into tears again holding his head in his hands
"I'm sorry Dustin, i'm so sorry i'm the worst friend ever"
Dustin came over to him then and sat on the floor beside him before hugging him tight
"It's okay, i'm here for you okay i love you man"
"I love you too"
They got Steve up off the floor and got him into the shower, as Robin cooked him some breakfast plating it out just as Steve came back downstairs he sat at the kitchen table and slowly ate the food she made as her and Dustin sat in front of him watching him eat
"So, tell us what happened"
"He picked me up last night and we went to roodey's as we do every week, everything seemed fine, normal at the beginning we ordered our food and as i was eating my steak he just blurted out we need to break up, no explanation nothing then he just left, i've tried calling him texting him but he won't answer me i don't know what i've did wrong Robin"
"Nothing Steve, you did nothing he's an asshole, you deserve better"
"But i love him Robin, i love him so much as i don't want to live without him"
She gently placed her hand on his a small smile on her face
"I know you do, but if this is what's happening Steve you need to move on and we are all here for you all of us"
He squeezed her hand and from then on they all took turns to spend time with Steve her and Dustin shared the time the first few days and then Nancy and Jonathan pitched in and one night it was Steve and Nancy together as they sat on the couch watching Netflix when Nancy finally spoke up
"This needs to stop Steve"
He looked at her confusion on his face
"What you mean?"
"This, you needing babysat all the time it needs to stop"
"Nance i-"
"Look, i love you Steve i have since we were together, but this isn't good for you it's been two weeks now you haven't even left this house, you hardly shower you don't eat unless made too you can't keep living like this"
"I know Nancy but... I can't be happy not without him"
"Have you tried speaking to him?"
"Yes loads! He won't answer me!"
She nodded her head and moved up the couch to sit beside him as she laid her head on his shoulder
"I'm sorry for being a bitch"
"You don't need to apologise Nance"
"it's just i care for you so much Steve, i hate seeing you like this, i want to kill that asshole"
"Hey no! I can't lose you while you get locked away in jail for murder no way"
He kissed her head gently as she laughed against him
"Maybe i could persuade Max to shave his eyebrows off or something"
"Nancy Wheeler!"
"What? He won't get another boyfriend without eyebrows then see how he feels then"
They laughed together as they cuddled up on the couch watching movie after movie until Steve finally fell asleep, Nancy turned and saw him fast asleep as she gently got up making her way out the house, she got in her car and went to drive home when she decided she needed answers so she drove up to Billy's home and knocked on the door and luckily Billy was the one to answer and he looked well like total shit, he had huge dark bags under his eyes, his hair was a mess like he hasn't brushed it at all and he stunk like beer and smoke
"What you want?"
"I just thought you should know that your ex the boy who you apparently said you loved is breaking his heart, you know the amount of work we've had to do to help him he started drinking Billy yeah! 2 years sober he was until you fucked him up and i just hope and pray he doesn't go down that road again or so help me god i will kill you Hargrove"
Nancy could see fear in Billy's eyes as he looked at her
"Shit, is he OK?"
"Yeah he is now, he's asleep but he misses you and i don't know what happened but you better have some good explanation"
Billy nodded gently and moved aside letting her into the house, his dad and Susan were stay away for the night so he had no worries of letting her in, they sat down in the living room as Billy's leg shook when he began talking
"My dad he.. he caught us one night, Steve left me off home after one of our date nights and i thought he was away for the night working so Steve walked me to the door and we kissed- he left and i walked inside and saw my dad sitting there in his chair looking at me with disgust and hatred he called me everything, faggot, cunt all the worst words he could find and he punched me kicked me everywhere except my face never my face"
Nancy stared at him and could feel her eyes tearing up as he replayed that night to her
"After he beat me to a pulp he told me i was never to see Steve again, if he found out he'd kill him that's what he said and i know some people can make empty threats but not him not Neil if he says he'll kill you he will kill you"
"Billy, i'm so sorry"
He quickly wiped away a tear running down his cheek and Nancy stood up then getting ready to leave
"Listen, i'm angry for what you've done for how much you've hurt Steve, but i know he loves you more than you can imagine, i don't give people second chances but i'm giving you one, make things right if you love him make it right"
"I do, i love him more than anything in this world Nance"
"Then tell him that"
She smiled softly as she left him then closing the door gently behind her, Billy placed his head in his hands as he cried quietly to himself
"Billy?"
He held back the rest of his tears and he wiped his nose with his arm
"What you want shitbird?"
"I heard, what you said"
He turned around to Max who stood behind him at the back of the couch in a pair of shorts and one of Billy's t-shirts he lets her wear to bed
"Billy, you need to get him back"
He scoffed lightly
"Yeah, not as easy as that Max"
"Yes it is, go to him tell him you love him get back together"
"If you heard our conversation, you would have heard the part were i said Neil said he'd kill him if he saw us together"
"Then don't let him see you"
He looked at her confused
"What?"
"If your not here, then he can't see you together can he?"
"Max what are you saying?"
Max walked around to the couch and sat beside him
"You and Steve you should go, leave this place you's deserve to be happy"
"What about you?"
She smiled at him
"I'll be okay, plus Lucas said if things ever get bad i can stay with him, go Billy go get him back"
Billy grabbed her into a hug kissing her head gently as he went into his room packing his bag only bringing the things he really needs, he grabbed his keys and drove Max to Lucas's but not before hugging her again
"i love you kid"
"Love you too"
He let her go and she ran into Lucas's house, he drove away the house heading straight to Steve's
Steve was asleep on the couch when he heard a knock on his door, he thought he was dreaming at first but when it kept knocking he got up and noticed Nancy was again he was slightly confused but another knock from the door got him charging over
"Henderson i swear to god if that's you coming back to check on me AGAIN! I'm gonna stick my toe right up your- Billy?"
Billy stood outside his front door a smile on his face
"Hey princess"
He walked up towards Steve going to hug him when a hand slapped across his cheek, and he held his hand onto it nodding
"Okay, i deserved that"
"What the fuck! You asshole how dare you show up here after just dumping me like that!"
"I know baby, i'm sorry"
"No! Screw you i've suffered for weeks Billy weeks! You can go to hell!"
Steve went to shut the door in his face when Billy slid his foot in the way stopping him
"Steve please, give me 5 minutes to explain, if you want to leave i will but give me a chance please"
Steve stared at him for a few minutes before moving aside and letting him into the house, they both went over to the couch and Billy placed his bag on the floor before look over at Steve
"I owe you an explanation"
"You think?"
Billy smirked a little he loved how fiesty Steve is
"The reason why i broke up with you, isn't because i don't love you or want to be with you, it was my dad.."
Steve frowned at him
"Your dad?"
"Yeah, he caught us that night you kissed me outside my house, he uh... he said if he ever saw me with you again he'd.. he'd kill you"
Steve stared at him for a few seconds before laughing
"Yeah okay Billy"
"Steve i'm not lying, my dad he's not someone to make empty threats, he would have killed you if he saw me with you again i swear i couldn't risk it couldn't risk him hurting you, i love you too much to let him hurt you"
"So that's why you broke up with me, to protect me?"
Billy nodded his head gently, as Steve stared down at the bag at his feet
"And the bag, is this your way of telling me your leaving, you just wanted to come and clear your conscious is that it?"
"No, i actually came here to ask you to move away with me?"
"What?"
"I want you to come with me, lets leave this place make a new start somewhere new, somewhere we can be together Steve without any worries, i love you so much baby i want to be with you forever"
"i- wha- what about Max?"
"My dad he may be an asshole of the highest degree, but he'd never harm a hair on her head that i know for certain, plus she'll always have a place to stay with us whenever she wants"
Steve looked away from him and Billy moved up beside him as he gently took his chin in his hand turning his face to look at him
"i know i'm asking you to make a huge step, but i want to be with you Steve i want to live our life happy and free just imagine us moving to California we could wake up in the morning and head to the beach, i'd teach you how to surf and we could be happy really happy"
"California?"
"Yeah baby, California, so what you say will you move away with me?"
Steve smiled up at him
"Yes Billy i'll move away with you"
Billy bit his lip as he felt the tears rolling down his face he moved in kissing Steve deeply running his hands though his hair missing how he felt and tasted, they kissed for what felt like hours before Billy moved back and placed his head against Steve's
"God i love you so much, i can't wait to get away from here new start, new life just me and you"
"Yeah just you and me.... And the kids you know i mean we can't abandon them Billy they need us how would they survive?"
Billy laughed at him then before kissing him again
"Shut up Harrington"
