Luz made sure her DM screen was effectively blocking all of the materials she had laid out in front of her and took a quick breath to calm her nerves.
“Thank you all for coming to play Dungeons and Dragons with me,” she giggled, clasping her hands together.
“Or risk missing out on a human tabletop game? Never in a million years!” Gus cheered.
Willow smiled and brought the straw sticking out of her cup of iced tea to her lips. “If Gus wants to play, then I wanna play, too.”
“And if the Captain wants to play, then I’m also tagging along,” Hunter seconded her sentiments.
Amity giggled into her hand. “Awesome girlfriends enable other awesome girlfriends,” she sang, wrapping her arm around Luz’s and leaning in to nuzzle her nose into her jawline lovingly.
“Sweet potato, I love you so much,” Luz said, gingerly pushing Amity away from her. “But you are not allowed to see behind the DM screen. Why don’t you tell us about your character?”
“Right!” Amity chirped, sitting up straight and looking down at the character sheet Luz had helped her fill out. “I’m playing as a human wizard. Her name is Luzura and she’s got the most brilliant brown eyes... And the softest, most kissable lips...”
Her cheeks were growing red the longer she explained her character. Luz was looking at her with the wide brown eyes she had just been describing, her face warming up just as equally.
“Gus! Why don’t you tell us about your character?” Amity said, pressing her palms to her cheeks in an attempt to hide how embarrassed she was.
Gus cracked his knuckled excitedly and took in a deep breath. “I’m going to be playing as a gnome sorcerer named The Great Illusionist Xoxim! There’s no greater illusionist in the land than I!” He declared proudly, his voice taking over the room they were playing in.
“You do still have to start at level one, though,” Luz chuckled, clicking her pen in and out a few times.
“That’s fine!” Gus chirped. “I can make it work.”
“Good attitude!” Luz told him, tossing her pen up in the air and pointing to Willow when she caught it again. “Tell us all about your character, Willow!”
Willow nodded. “I’m playing as a half-elf druid named Chrysanthemum,” she explained, leaning into Hunter gently. “She loves her friends so much and would do anything for them.”
Hunter’s ears were turning the barest shade of pink at the tips.
“Why don’t you tell us about your character, Hunter?” She suggested softly.
He nodded quickly. “My character is a half-elf cleric named Indigo,” he explained. He almost looked embarrassed the more he spoke. “Willow helped me come up with the ideas. He’s... A little insecure about being a half-elf, but Chrysanthemum makes him feel a bit better about it.”
“Very nice characters, everyone!” Luz said, clapping proudly. “Let’s start our campaign off- Hunter, have you been eating the dice this whole time!?”
The table’s attention snapped straight to the former Golden Guard slipping a marbled resin ten-sided die into his mouth.
“They’re not edible?”
