“Xiao’er,” Zhongli starts after a comfortable pause, “May I put this on you?” He gently holds the floral crown in both of his hands, patiently waiting for Xiao’s answer.
There’s a hint of surprise on Xiao’s face, he blinks a few times before he nods his head, “Yes.”
Zhongli tries to hide the smile that curls on his lips. Xiao bows his head as Zhongli lifts the crown and carefully places it on top of soft sea-green hair. Gracefully, Xiao lifts his head, the floral crown stays steady on his head and he meets Zhongli’s gaze. Zhongli sucks in a silent breath, his heart squeezes.
“Just as I thought…” Xiao raises his eyebrows in question. Zhongli gently brushes his fingers against Xiao’s cheek with a fond smile, “It looks lovely on you, Xiao’er.”
