Venice had a little frown in between his eyebrows because he needed to talk to someone, but there was no one around. Papa was out with uncle Porsche, dada was talking on the phone with someone in his office and Macau was in school. And that left Venice wandering around the mansion, in an urgent need of an opinion.
It was about the names for the kittens, you see. It’s been a couple of days since they’ve brought the kittens home and Venice still wasn’t completely sure on what names he should give them. However, he had a few ideas, but he needed someone’s opinion. This was hard and he hummed along, giggling when he saw the kittens following him around the mansion.
Oh, he really felt like an older brother with the two kittens following him around everywhere practically. The brother kitten was always causing chaos. He was very curious and he got himself in trouble quite a lot. Sister kitten, on the other hand, was a lot less of a trouble maker. She was curious as well, but she took things slowly. She was more cautious than her brother and Venice sighed.
Venice leaned down, going down onto his knees and he giggled when the kittens ran up to him when he was closer to them. He gently scratched them behind their ears and then he slowly removed his hands, sitting properly onto the floor so that the kittens could climb on top of his lap. The three of them chilled on the hallway together, Venice being the responsible older brother taking care of them when he saw two bodyguards coming out of the room, walking past him and Venice suddenly had a wonderful idea!
Venice knew the bodyguards working at the mansion pretty well. They’ve been with the minor family for many years now, some of them were working there before Venice was born. That meant that they were dada’s and papa’s friends, right? Technically, they were his employees, but they were closer than that to Vegas and he grinned.
If they were dada’s friends, then they were his friends as well! Venice would often hang out with them when he had nothing better to do. Some of them looked quite scary and Venice used to be afraid of them when he was younger. However, he was four now and he wasn’t afraid now.
The bodyguards working for the minor family have learned how to handle the kid. Some of the bodyguards weren’t really the type that would get along with kids, but since this was Vegas’ child, they had to – if they liked it or not, they had to be nice to the kid or else they would hear it from the boss and they knew better than to piss Vegas off.
But, most of them genuinely liked Venice. Venice was a good kid.
So, Venice followed the two of the bodyguards and smiled when he found a third one as well. The three of them were about to go out to keep watch in front of the mansion, but Venice stopped them at the very last moment. The three of them were talking to each other when one of them noticed the boy standing close to them, only observing them with a smile on his face.
Now, it would be rude if he interrupted the conversation, wouldn’t it? So, Venice waited for his turn and the bodyguard that happened to notice him signed the other two to turn around and the other two laughed when they saw Venice standing there. The kittens were now playing behind him and he clasped his hands together behind his back.
“Can I ask something?” asked Venice curiously and he slowly stepped closer to the three of them. The trio looked at each other and the one with the long beard slowly stepped closer to Venice and gave him a quick nod.
“Sure. Just make it quick, we have to be keeping guard outside,” he said and Venice nodded.
“Will be quick, I promise,” said Venice and the other one gave him a little nod.
“I need help,” said Venice and another man stepped closer to him, leaning closer to him. Oh, he was the one that Venice found the most scary in the past. He had long hair and he looked scary, but he was nice! Venice liked him now!
“We can try to help you,” he said, though not quite sure why the kid would need their help and not his parent’s. Still, since they knew that they needed to be nice to Venice at all times, they waited patiently enough.
Venice happily smiled.
“I’m a big brother now!” said Venice and then he pointed at the kittens. The bodyguards glanced at each other and they slowly nodded, not sure what that had all with it, but Venice continued. “I need your help with picking out names for them,” said Venice and they looked at each other.
“That’s it?” asked the tallest of the three and Venice nodded.
“Yes! I need help. Papa and dada are busy. Macau is in school and I need help!” said Venice. Help of course couldn’t help until someone would come back and pay attention to Venice. The help needed to come right now!
“I mean we can… try and help him?” asked one of them and looked at the other two. The tall one looked more than happy to help out, but the other one was a little bit sceptical.
“Boss will kill us if we don’t keep guard,” he mumbled.
“And you think he’ll be happy if we don’t help his son?”
“Fine,” he said and rolled his eyes. “Let’s name the cats and be on our way,” he said and Venice happily giggled.
“So I have ideas!” said Venice and picked up the sister kitten and then he placed her in front of the three men. The poor kitten looked terrified and she loudly meowed. Luckily Venice picked her up and tried to calm her down. “Don’t be afraid, they’re our friends!”
“Well-”
“Let’s hear the name ideas.”
“This is a sister kitten,” said Venice and then he frowned. “I like the names Boba, Momo and Lulu,” said Venice and then he sighed. Uncle Tankhun was trying to help him pick the names, but Venice wasn’t so sure about his ideas. “Uncle Khun suggested also Princess and Queen, I think it doesn’t fit her. Name has to be simple,” said Venice and the trio of bodyguards looked at each other.
The four year old happily blinked up at them, expecting an answer. The bodyguards didn’t know what to do, actually. They were looking at each other, each one of them hoping that someone would finally speak up and Venice pouted.
“Are they not good names?” asked Venice sadly.
“They’re good names,” said one of them quickly and Venice smiled.
“Oh, good!” he said and he grinned. “Which one do you like the most?”
After a few moments of silence, the trio spoke up in unison.
“Momo,” the three of them at the same time and Venice happily smiled because he also thought that that name was somehow the cutest and he nodded happily, giggling as he looked over to the kitten and slowly placed her down. Sister kitten now had a name.
“I like it too!” said Venice happily. “It’s cute!” he said and he leaned down, cooing at the kitten. “Come here, Momo,” said Venice and he laughed happily when she loudly meowed. Venice looked up at the men and he nodded. “I think she likes it too, right?”
“Sure.”
“Okay, now for brother kitten,” said Venice as he still wasn’t done and he pointed at the other kitten, which was curiously walking around in circles. He was too scared to approach the men, so he was keeping his sister company.
“Which names do you have picked out?”
“Yes! I have a funny name idea,” said Venice and the men were patiently waiting for him to continue. “Peanut!” said Venice and started giggling. While two of them didn’t quite care what the kid named his cats, the tall man was invested now and he hummed along.
“Are you sure?”
“Is not good?” asked Venice and glanced down.
“Well, let’s hear other options,” he said and Venice slowly nodded.
“I have one more idea,” said Venice and then he decided to tell a whole story about how he came up with the second name idea. That one he came up all on his own! “Brother kitten is silly,” said Venice and started laughing. “Yesterday I was playing with soap bubbles and he was playing with me!” said Venice, laughing. “Papa wasn’t too happy,” cracked Venice up.
The kitten was chasing those bubbles everywhere, he was climbing things and Pete wasn’t too happy when he saw the state of Venice’s room after the playing session.
“So another idea is Bubble!”
“Much better than Peanut,” said the man and Venice happily clapped and he happily looked at the kitten, jumping up and down.
“Bubble! You will be now Bubble!” was cheering the boy. Oh, he was very happy and excited because this was something that was worrying him for a few days now! The kittens finally had their names – he was a good brother! “Thank you,” said Venice politely and the trio smiled at him. “Now we can all play together!” announced Venice happily.
However, before Venice could finish that, the kittens ended up running away as they decided that they wanted to play on their own and Venice pouted and then he sighed, shaking his head as he looked over at the bodyguards.
“I think Momo and Bubble are still shy,” said Venice. “It’s okay, we can still play together!”
“Listen-”
“I have a cool idea,” said Venice, nodding along. That wasn’t the first time that Venice was trying to get the bodyguards to play with him and sometimes it worked. Not always though. “I wanna be a bodyguard too, I will work with you today!” said Venice and the trio started laughing. Not at the boy, but at the adorable idea that he had.
“I don’t think it works like that,” said one of them and Venice hummed.
“I have cool sunglasses. I can be a bodyguard undercover,” said Venice happily. “No one will know I'm a bodyguard and then we will attack!” said Venice happily. “Will be so cool, let’s go!” said Venice happily, leading the team of bodyguards. The three of them looked at each other.
“Venice, I thought we talked about this,” said Vegas when he walked closer to Venice and his men. He heard it all before and then he placed his hands on top of his sides. “They’re on the job now, they can’t play with you,” said Vegas and Venice whined.
“Why not?’’
“They’re supposed to be doing their job and you’re distracting them,’ said Vegas. He didn’t raise his voice, he just explained it all very calmly. “They’re here to keep you, me… Pete, Macau – all of us safe,” said Vegas and Venice nodded. He knew that, but still!’
“I know,” said Venice and then he bowed his head down. Vegas had scolded him now, right? Because he was keeping the men from doing their job. Venice was still pouting, feeling kind of annoyed and he watched how Vegas told his men to go watch guard outside as they were supposed to be doing at the moment.
Once the two of them were alone, Venice slowly felt how the annoyance was leaving his body and he looked up at Vegas, who was now looking down at him, keeping his arms crossed on top of his chest and Venice sighed. He knew that he wasn’t supposed to be bothering the bodyguards, he kind of broke a rule. Did that mean that Vegas was now angry with him?
“Dada, are you angry with me?” asked Venice and Vegas shook his head.
“Why? I’m not,” said Vegas.
“But I broke a rule,” whined Venice.
“Well, it wasn’t that serious,” said Vegas and Venice kept pouting until Vegas picked him up and then he smiled at him. “What’s with the pout?” asked Vegas and Venice shrugged. “How about some ice cream? Will that make the pout go away?” asked Vegas as he wanted to prove to Venice that he wasn’t really mad at him and Venice quickly cheered up.
“Yes! Yes!’’ said the boy happily and Vegas laughed as he carried the boy into the kitchen.
“They helped me with the names for the kittens,” said Venice happily as he was stuffing his face with the ice cream and Vegas was listening to his rambling with a little smile on his face. It still amused him that the boy thought of the bodyguards as his friends. “Want some, dada?” asked Venice and offered a spoonful of the ice cream to Vegas, who leaned over and allowed Venice to spoon-feed him the ice cream.
“Really?” asked Vegas then and Venice happily nodded.
“Wanna know what they’re called?” asked Venice and Vegas nodded.
“Of course,” said Vegas and Venice lifted his gaze when he saw Pete stepping into the kitchen as well. Oh, this was awesome! Pete was home as well, so Venice could tell the good news to both of them at the same time, this was so exciting!
“What’s going on?” asked Pete when he saw the huge grin on Venice’s lips.
“I have good news, papa!’’
“Oh, yeah?”
“I picked the names for the kittens! Bodyguards helped me,” said Venice and Pete looked at Vegas, who chuckled and gave him a little nod. Pete sat down next to the two of them and he waited for the names to be revealed. He knew that Venice had been working on it for days now and he was finally ready!
“So, how did you name them?” asked Pete and then leaned closer to Venice, wiping away some of the ice cream that the boy had smeared over his cheek with his thumb and Venice grinned up at him.
“Momo and Bubble!” said Venice happily. “I worked hard on the names. They’re cute, right?” asked Venice and Pete didn’t have to ask twice about why one of them got the name Bubble.
It sure did like bubbles, so Venice was spot on with that name.
“Mn. They’re adorable names,” said Pete in the end and smiled when he saw how happy Venice looked.
“Yes, kitties like the names too,” said Venice and happily rubbed his palms together. “I’m such a good big brother,” said Venice, still proud of himself and all that Pete could do was smile and nod in agreement.
