Vegas yelled on top of his lungs as he ran towards the man, tackling him against the floor, making sure that he grabbed him by his neck, punching him a few times before he rammed the knife into his throat, breathing hard and uneven as he grabbed the gun into his hands and shot the two men that were coming from the back, trying to get to him, but Vegas was too quick.
Vegas was out of control. There was nothing stopping him at the moment. The mask had been stripped off and he was going to kill them all. No one was going to make out alive, growling when he saw two men coming closer as well and he made sure to kill the two of them as well, gritting his teeth, cursing loudly when he saw that he was out of bullets.
Vegas took the bloody knife into his hand and threw it towards the last man that was coming closer to him. The man dropped to the floor, his eyes open wide in shock and Vegas swallowed thickly, stumbling over his feet and he fell to the ground, looking over to the side where Pete was lying. Kinn was with him and he bit into his lower lip.
All of this was his fault. If Vegas paid attention, Pete wouldn’t have gotten shot. Vegas didn’t even know how bad it was because after Pete fell to the ground he lost it. He killed every single one of them – they deserved it. Not only did they betray the minor and the main family, but they dared to shoot-
“Pete,” swallowed Vegas and scrambled himself to his feet, running over to Vegas, who had his head raised up, resting on top of Porsche’s legs and was holding to his side, pressing down tightly as he was trying to ignore the pain and he smiled up at Vegas, who quickly fell to his knees and leaned closer to him, his fingers shakily cradling his face, teras immediately in Vegas’ eyes. “All of this is my fault,” swallowed Vegas and he shook his head.
“It’s not,” said Pete and hissed out in pain when he tried moving. Vegas’ head was spinning and he couldn’t rationally, chewing on his lower lip, which was trembling and he gently skimmed some of the hair away from Pete’s forehead, sitting on top of his heels.
“Fuck,” cursed Vegas and closed his eyes. “I ruin everything-”
“Don’t,” said Pete and gave Vegas another tired smile, keeping the pressure on the wound and he gritted his teeth. Pete was going to be just fine and he knew it.
“This is my fault, I wasn’t paying attention, fuck, ” said Vegas and shook his head. “You… you shouldn’t have jumped in front-”
“Vegas, calm down,” said Pete and shuddered when he felt cold.
“Pete?” asked Vegas and gently placed his hand on top of Pete’s hands and he swallowed back the tears. If anything happened to Pete… if Pete- No, no, no. Vegas didn’t want to think of it like that. Pete was going to be just fine. He promised – he wouldn’t leave him.
“I’m cold,” said Pete and Vegas looked up at Kinn, who placed a hand on Vegas’ shoulder.
“Pete will be fine,” said Kinn, trying to calm Vegas down. “I’ve called the hospital. They’ll have everything ready by the time we arrive there,” said Kinn and Vegas slowly nodded.
“T-thank you,” stammered Vegas because he honestly… he wasn’t in the right headspace to be making rational thinking. So he was grateful that Kinn and Porsche were with him.
Porsche smiled down at Pete and he gave his best friend a little wink. Pete could tell that they were all worried, but they were putting on a brave face. For Vegas to not spiral completely out of control.
“You’ll be just fine,” said Porsche despite his voice breaking badly and Pete gave him a little nod.
“Mn, of course I will be. You think you’re gonna get rid of me so easily?”
“Don’t joke,” whispered Vegas, taking off his jacket and he placed it on top of Pete. Pete said he was feeling cold, right? “Don’t dare to turn this into a joke,” whispered Vegas and leaned down, pressing a kiss on top of Pete’s warm lips and he gently pressed his forehead against Pete’s.
“Let’s get him into my car,” said Kinn and Vegas immediately nodded, gritting his teeth as he slowly stood up and carefully picked Pete up. Pete gritted his teeth and tried to hold back signs of pain as much as he could when Vegas picked him up and quickly carried him into the car. He made sure that Pete was laying down before he went in as well.
Pete had his head resting on top of Vegas’ legs, looking up at him while Kinn and Porsche hurried into the car as well. Kinn didn’t waste any time - he quickly started the car and drove towards the hospital.
Vegas was gently caressing Pete’s hair, keeping his hand pressed now against the wound while Pete was trying to make himself comfortable and his eyes turned over to Vegas when he heard little sniffles above him.
“Don’t leave me,” he said and broke down, feeling tears trickling down his cheeks.
Pete smiled through his tears. It hurt seeing Vegas like this, he felt guilty.
“I’m not going anywhere, I’ll be fine,” promised Pete. “It’s not like I haven’t been shot before,” said Pete, but his voice was breaking. Not because of the pain, not because of fear because he knew that he was going to be fine. But his heart was breaking for Vegas.
Ah, Pete should have been more careful when he jumped in front of the man that was about to shoot Vegas. He didn’t regret it, though. Because he saved Vegas and that was all that mattered.
All that Pete wanted to do was wrap his arms around Vegas and hug him, hold him close and tell him that all of it was going to be okay.
“What?” asked Macau and almost dropped the phone when he got the phone call.
“ Pete got shot and all of it is my fault… I wasn’t paying attention, the fucker was about to shoot me and Pete- he saved me and- ”
Vegas was on the other side of the phone call. Macau had to sit down, feeling his legs giving out and he took a deep breath, gripping onto the phone. His face was pale and he felt sick down to his stomach. Macau’s hand was shaking and he cleared his throat.
“Where are you now?” asked Macau.
“ At the hospital. Kinn and Porsche are here with me. They’re still… they’re not letting us know anything. Fuck, if anything happens to Pete… it’s all my fault. All of it is my fault- ”
“Vegas, it’s not-”
“ Not a word to Venice about this, not until Pete is out of surgery.’’
“I-I understand,” said Macau, his head spinning and he closed his eyes, swallowing thickly. Macau wanted to be there at the hospital. With Vegas. He wanted to be there for his older brother and for Pete.
Macau was terrified and staying at home was something that he wasn’t going to be able to do, chewing on his lower lip as he was trying to calm down, but he couldn’t. Vegas didn’t tell him how Pete was and before Macau was able to ask him more questions, the phone call ended and Macau cursed.
Macau wanted to go to the hospital, but he was supposed to be watching Venice. Just at that moment the boy happily walked into the room, grinning because he had wonderful news to share with Macau. He was trying to teach some tricks to the two of his kittens and he finally got Momo to sit down on command. Kind of. Perhaps. Still, he wanted to show it to Macau!
“Macau, Macau, I have good news,” said the boy, grinning all the way up to his ears.
As soon as Venice stepped into the room, Macau dried his tears, cracked his knuckles and he tucked the phone away. Macau forced a smile on his face and he cleared his throat, standing up. Macau’s heart was racing. Vegas told him not to say a word to Venice, not a word.
“What is the good news, buddy?” asked Macau.
Macau’s voice sounded funny, Venice couldn’t really tell why, but something was completely fine about it. Still, he was too excited!
“I taught Momo how to sit down!” said Venice happily. “Wanna see?” asked Venice and Macau nervously to look at Venice. He needed to go to the hospital and an idea popped into his mind as he stepped closer to Venice and picked him up. “You don’t wanna see?” asked Venice with a pout.
“You know… I have somewhere to go,” said Macau and Venice cheered up.
“Can I come as well?”
“I… I don’t… no,” said Macau, stumbling over his words. All of it seemed to move in a haze, he needed something to feel grounded, but- “I’ll take you to uncle Tankhun, mn?” asked Macau and Venice narrowed his eyes. “You know how much he loves Momo and Bubble, you may take both of them with you and you can show off the trick to him. And-and then when I’m back, I’ll be more than happy to see-”
“Macau, are you okay?” asked Venice slowly and Macau nodded.
“Yes. I just… ah, I got in trouble at school and my professors now need to see me. So I’m a little bit nervous,” flat out lied Macau, feeling terribly for lying, but-
“Oh, scary professors,” said Venice and Macau nodded.
“Yeah,” said Macau. “So, what about it? I’ll take you to Tankhun with the kittens?” asked Macau and Venice agreed to it.
Macau got everything ready in a hurry and had their diver drive them towards the main family’s mansion.
“I-I’m sorry for coming here completely unannounced,” said Macau and he glanced towards Venice, who was obviously happily running around with the kittens, now at the main family. As soon as Tankhun heard what happened when Kinn called him, he was getting ready to go to the hospital as well, but then at the very last moment Macau came with Venice, begging him if he could look after Venice while he would go to the hospital.
Tankhun immediately agreed to watch over the boy.
“Don’t apologise,” said Tankhun with a small voice and he glanced at Venice.
“Venice doesn’t know-” stammered Macau and his voice trailed off. “I would like it to stay that way,” said Macau and Tankhun gave him another nod.
“I’m not going to tell him anything, I promise,” said Tankhun.
Macau glanced at him, twisting his fingers as he placed his hands together and he took a deep breath. Macau looked pale and it was almost odd to Macau to see Tankhun so… present. He was expecting Tankhun to be wailing in distress now, but he was calm.
“Really, thank you,” said Macau, feeling tears going to his eyes again and he quickly dried them, sniffling. He ran his fingers through his hair.
“We’re family,” said Tankhun and glanced at Venice, who was happily running around, chasing the kittens and he smiled. “You don’t need to thank me,” he said and Macau nodded.
Macau turned around and was about to leave when Tankhun followed him out of the room so that Venice couldn’t hear them and he placed a hand on top of Macau’s shoulder and gave him a little brave smile.
“Pete will be okay,” said Tankhun. “He’s tough.”
“I-I know,” croaked Macau and glanced down. Still, he was worried. The crippling fear of someone that he held dear to his heart leaving him was still present and he couldn’t help it. Tankhun could see it, in both Macau and Vegas.
Tankhun carefully wrapped his arms around Macau and gently tapped his back a few times. Never in a million years would Macau have thought that he would actually appreciate the hug from his cousin and Macau hugged Tankhun back for a split second, but before the emotions could catch up with him, Macau pulled back and then he smiled at the other.
“I should go,” said Macau and Tankhun nodded.
“Call me when you know more news?” asked Tankhun and Macau gave him a short nod.
“What are you doing here?” asked Vegas when he saw Macau coming closer to them. They were still in a waiting room, Vegas nervously biting on his nails while Porsche and Kinn were sitting next to him in silence. Vegas already had one meltdown, which proceeded with Vegas threatening the whole medical staff at the hospital and they really couldn’t afford another one.
That was why they sat there in silence.
“I had to come,” said Macau and Vegas looked around.
“Venice?”
“I left him with Tankhun,” said Macau and lowered his gaze.
“Okay… okay,” said Vegas and hid his face into his palms, taking a deep breath in as he was trying to-
“How’s Pete?” asked Macau and glanced at Kinn and Porsche.
“We still don’t know,” said Kinn and Macau felt his stomach dropping, his heart hammering against his ribcage and he slowly sat down onto the chair next to Vegas, who was angrily sitting there.
“Pete will be just fine,” said Porsche in the end and Vegas glared at him, but he didn’t want to take his anger out on him. All of this was his fault anyway and he pulled on his hair out of frustration.
“This hospital is useless,” spat Vegas.
“Don’t start again,” warned him Kinn.
“Well, it’s true,” hissed Vegas, his eyes dark with anger. “It’s been hours, they should have given us some news by now, no?!” raised his voice Vegas and Macau lowered his gaze down.
“I’m sure they’re doing everything-”
“They’re not, they’re useless,” said Vegas, still insisting on that. Because it was easier to put blame on someone else. Though, he knew that deep down all of it was his fault. He wasn’t careful and that was why Pete got shot in the first place.
And if anything happened to Pete, then Vegas-
“Vegas,” said Kinn again and Vegas glared at him.
“So, you’re going to say that this is my fault?” hissed Vegas.
“I didn’t say-”
“Because I know it is. All of it is my fault. It’s my fault that Pete got shot because I wasn’t fast enough. It would be better if the fucker shot me, not Pete,” growled Vegas and took a sharp breath in, swallowing back his tears and Macau looked at him.
“Stop saying that,” said Macau angrily.
“It’s true. Pete doesn’t deserve this,” said Vegas, speaking fast and he couldn’t even calm down enough to breathe… “But I do,” he said and as soon as he said that, he broke down in tears.
A loud sob could be heard in the waiting room. The guilt that Vegas felt made it unable for him to breathe and he gripped onto the side of the chair as another loud sob escaped past his lips. Macau wrapped his arms around Vegas’ shoulders, while Kinn placed his hand on top of Vegas’ back a few moments later.
But Vegas couldn’t calm down.
“I came as soon as I could,’’ said Leo and walked over to Macau, who was waiting for him in front of the hospital. Waiting inside got too much for him to handle. And as soon as Macau saw Leo, he almost broke down in tears. He had been holding back the tears throughout the entire time. He couldn’t cry in front of Venice, he wanted to be strong for Vegas, but-
“Leo,” stammered Macau and stepped closer to him. “I’m sorry for calling you so suddenly. I know you were busy-’’
“Don’t you dare to apologise,” said Leo and stepped closer to Leo, looking over to the hospital. “How is he?”
“We still don’t know,” said Macau and Leo slowly nodded.
“Let’s go inside?” asked Leo, but Macau took his hand and pulled him back because he couldn’t go inside. Not quite yet. He needed to breathe. Inside he couldn’t breathe, he needed a few moments to collect himself and just-
“Is it okay if we stay here for a bit?” asked Macau and Leo quickly nodded.
“Of course,” said Leo and he wrapped an arm around his waist, looking down into Macau’s eyes. When Macau called him to tell him what happened, Leo was shocked. It was just… he was worried. He knew that Pete was almost like a father figure to Macau. Well, an older brother. Family. And he was just… he came to the hospital as soon as he could.
He dropped everything that he was doing and he showed up in less than fifteen minutes because nothing else mattered at that point. When Macau called, nothing else mattered.
“It’s just too much inside, I can’t breathe,” said Macau and swallowed thickly. “I can’t- '' whispered Macau and when he realised that he was on the brink of bursting in tears, he angrily wiped the tears away and tried to stay strong. “Shit.”
“Cry, there’s nothing wrong with crying. You don’t have to hold back. Not with me, you can-” started Leo, but he didn’t get to finish the sentence because he was suddenly pulled into a crushing embrace, Macau leaning up and before he knew it, he could hear soft sobbing right next to his ear.
Leo’s arms wrapped around Macau and he gently held him in his hands as Macau finally stopped holding back. It was unbearable and he was glad that he could finally let it all out.
“How is my husband?” hissed Vegas when the doctor finally decided to grace them with his presence. The doctor stepped back a little bit and then he tried to remain calm composure even though it was pretty evident that he was terrified of Vegas. The people at the hospital knew very well who Kinn and Vegas were.
“The operation was successful,” said the man and Vegas felt how weight finally started lifting off of his chest. The few hours that he had to wait for this confirmation were the longest, most excruciating hours yet and he bit into his lower lip. “He never was in a serious danger,” he carried on by saying and Vegas glanced at him. “But we have safely removed the bullet,” he said and Vegas gave him a little nod.
“When can we see him?’’ asked Macau, relieved to hear the news and he gripped onto Leo’s hand.
Leo was happy to hear that Pete was going to be just fine and he sighed in relief, Porsche placing his hands on top of his sides – Pete promised that he was going to be fine and he kept his promise!
“He’ll soon wake up, so-,” said the doctor and Vegas narrowed his eyes.
“I can’t see him now?” asked Vegas and pressed his lips together. “I’m his husband,” he said and the doctor gulped, clasping his hands together.
“Vegas,” started Kinn.
“You may go and see him. But, it’ll take him a little while to be completely awake.”
“I don’t care. I need to be with him,” said Vegas and the doctor gave him a little nod. Since he knew what Vegas was capable of, he decided to take him to Pete. He never was in that much of a serious danger, so-
“Follow me,” was all that the doctor said and Vegas slowly nodded, following the man in silence, feeling his whole body going numb when the doctor took him to the room that Pete was going to be staying in for the next few days, until he would be in a good enough of a shape to leave the hospital.
The nurse that was checking up on Pete in the room went over to the doctor and the two of them left the room for the time being. They were going to be close and were monitoring Pete’s condition.
Vegas wanted to be there when Pete would open his eyes. They said that he would soon wake up, so he wanted to be the first thing that Pete would see once he would open his eyes and Vegas swallowed thickly when he saw Pete laying in that hospital bed, feeling guilt piling on again.
It was terrible. Pete was going to be alright, but that wasn’t the point. Pete should have never been in there in the first place and Vegas felt burning heat in his eyes again. Seeing Pete like this cut deeper and more painful than taking a blade right into his heart. Vegas swallowed back those tears and he slowly dragged a chair next to Pete’s bed and he gently took Pete’s hand into his own and squeezed it, leaning down to press a kiss over Pete’s hand and he pulled back.
“I’m sorry,” whispered Vegas, gently caressing Pete’s cheek, slowly outlining the ridges of his face and he smiled through his tears. “You’re okay,” he said and nodded. “You’re okay,” he said again and bowed his head down, pressing Pete’s hand against his lips again.
Vegas sat there in silence for a little while, keeping his eyes on Pete. He was breathing slowly, he looked peaceful and Vegas swallowed thickly.
“I love you,” said Vegas and swallowed back his tears again. “Pete. My Pete,” said Vegas softly as he gently touched Pete’s cheek and that was when the other finally responded to his touches. Pete’s eyebrows twitched and he opened his eyes.
Vegas noticed that Pete was slowly in the process of waking up and he held in his breath. He was supposed to call the doctor once Pete would wake up, but-
It took Pete a bit, but he slowly opened his eyes, feeling exhausted. His head was spinning and he couldn’t properly remember where he was. Everything was white and once he finally managed to see Vegas above him he looked down, then back up and he remembered what happened.
“Vegas?” asked Pete. He felt light-headed. His mouth felt dry and he couldn’t really speak properly. He needed water.
“Hey,” said Vegas and gently cradled Pete’s face. “How… how are you feeling?”
“Thirsty,” said Pete and yawned, looking down. “Sleepy,” said Pete, tempted to close his eyes, but Vegas didn’t want-
“Pete,” said Vegas and Pete forced his eyes to open again. It was so hard, though.
“Mn?”
“You’re fine,” said Vegas and Pete could see new tears running down Vegas’ cheek.
“I told you I’ll be fine. Please don’t cry,” said Pete and he yawned again. “I’m not… leaving.”
“Yeah,” said Vegas and smiled when Pete cutely nuzzled into his warm palm. “Hey, don’t fall asleep yet,” said Vegas with a smile and Pete whined.
“Why?”
“The doctors will take a look at you,’’ said Vegas and Pete rolled his eyes.
“Now?”
“It’ll be over fast, so you can rest more later,” said Vegas. “Now be a good boy and keep your eyes open,” said Vegas and Pete gave him a little nod.
Pete smiled up at Macau and the others and laughed. He felt tired, but good. It was a couple of hours later and he felt a lot better. He wasn’t so sleepy anymore. Still tired though, but he was happy to see everyone around him. Even Leo was there!
“All of you worried so much when I kept telling you that Pete will be just fine,” said Porsche, trying to lighten up the mood around. He was terribly worried, just like the rest of them, but he was trying to lighten up the mood and Pete laughed along.
“Yeah, what did I tell you?” asked Pete and looked at Macau, who smiled. The first thing that Macau did was go and hug Pete. But, now he has calmed down. Having Leo there helped and just to see Pete smiling like this it was just… Macau felt so relieved.
“You were the head bodyguard for a good reason,” said Kinn and Vegas rolled his eyes. He was now sitting on the edge of the bed and kept holding Pete’s hand all the time. He wouldn’t budge. He would be staying in the hospital overnight.
“I wish Venice was here,” mumbled Pete. He missed the boy and Vegas leaned closer to him.
“He’s with Khun,’’ said Vegas and Pete nodded, biting into his lower lip.
“Maybe he can come visit tomorrow,” said Pete and glanced at Vegas, who slowly nodded. They would have to tell Venice what happened, they couldn’t just lie to him. Pete was going to have to stay in the hospital for a few days, so…
“For tonight he can stay over with Tankhun,” said Vegas and Pete nodded. He knew that that would make Tankhun happy – he’s been asking for a sleepover for a long time now.
“Did anyone tell him that Pete’s fine?” asked Porsche and Vegas stopped in his tracks.
“Shit, I forgot,” said Macau. He’s been so stressed, so overemotional that he completely forgot about everything else.
“I’ll send him a text,” said Vegas slowly and pulled out his phone, smiling along as he heard Pete’s laughter.
The day was long. Tankhun kept waiting for any kind of news from the hospital, but nothing. It’s been hours and he was trying to keep up the smile as he was running around with the boy and the kittens, but… it wasn’t easy.
It wasn’t until a text finally came and he held back his breath when he saw that it was Vegas who texted him. Tankhun opened up the text.
👹 Evil 👹
Pete is going to be fine, he just needs a few days to recover at the hospital [5:23 pm]
I want to spend the night with him, Macau is staying at the hospital as well. [5:24 pm]
So if it isn’t too much, could you please look after Venice for tonight? I’ll make it up to you [5:26 pm]
Tankhun sighed in relief and pressed his phone against his chest and he took a deep breath, feeling how tears of relief started gathering in his eyes and he nodded. Sure, he didn’t mind looking after the boy, he understood. All that mattered was that Pete was okay.
Tankhun almost burst in tears, but then he heard Venice running over to him. He puffed his cheeks and quickly stood up, shaking his head and he put on a happy smile.
Pete was fine, just like he said!
“Venice, I have good news!” said Tankhun and Venice looked up at him.
“Oh, what good news, uncle?”
“Today we’ll be having a sleepover!”
“Really?!” asked Venice happily and Tankhun nodded.
“Mn. So call Momo and Bubble! We’ll be marathoning all of your favourite movies tonight!’’ said Tankhun. “Arm, Pol!” said Tankhun. “Let’s get everything ready,” said Tankhun in his usual tone of voice, but then his genuine smile was back and he quickly replied to Vegas’ text, saying that he didn’t mind looking after the boy at all.
Venice had a feeling that the adults were hiding something from him, so when Tankhun told him that they were going to the hospital the next day, he was very suspicious. He didn’t want to go, but after he talked to Vegas over the phone, he decided to go. Dada told him that he would tell him in person what happened and that made the boy nervous.
So, he followed uncle Tankhun to the hospital, where both Macau and Vegas were waiting for him and Tankhun. They were waiting for the two of them in the waiting room and Venice was nervously looking around because he had a bad feeling about it. Where was papa?
So, Vegas explained it to him, that papa got hurt the day before and Venice was even more nervous. Papa got hurt and that was why they were all at the hospital now? Where was papa? Venice burst in tears almost pretty much right after Vegas said that Pete got hurt. He didn’t tell him how or what happened, but that much the boy didn’t need to know.
Vegas held Venice in his arms, who was crying loudly and no matter what Vegas did, he couldn’t soothe the boy down.
“Shh, Pete’s alright, he’s-”
“Wanna see papa, wanna see papa, where is papa?” kept on crying the boy as he was holding onto Vegas.
“I’ll take you to him,” said Vegas. “Hey, don’t cry, let’s first calm down and then-”
“Wanna go to papa,” demanded Venice and because Vegas knew that Pete could hear Venice’s crying since they were standing right in front of his room, he decided not to stall anymore. He quickly stepped into the room and tried to show to Venice that Pete was just fine.
“See? Look, Pete is fine,” said Vegas and Venice hiccuped and stopped crying for a split moment.
Pete was sitting in bed and he smiled when he saw Venice, who's crying only got louder when he saw Pete in the hospital bed.
“Bring him to me,” said Pete and Vegas slowly brought Venice closer, planting the boy onto the bed.
Venice hiccuped, tears still in his eyes as he observed Pete. He slowly reached out with his hands, slowly holding Pete’s hand, then he turned it around, trying to see where papa was hurt. He couldn’t find any bandages there, so he kept on searching.
“W-where are you hurt, papa?” asked the boy and Pete pointed over to his side. Venice wanted to make sure where Pete was hurt because he wanted to hug him, but he didn’t want to hurt him if he was going to do that.
“Here,” said Pete, not showing the bandages to Venice.
“Arm… arm is not hurt?’’
“Nope,” said Pete and smiled when Venice crawled closer and wrapped his arms around Pete’s arm, hiccuping again and Pete smiled softly, leaning closer and he hugged the boy properly.
Vegas smiled and kissed Venice’s head and eventually Venice calmed down enough to stop crying, still holding onto Pete’s hand and Vegas looked over to the door where Tankhun was standing with Macau.
“Don’t just stand there, come in,” said Vegas and Tankhun stepped inside in silence. He didn’t want to be interrupting the family moment. Still, tears were in his eyes when he saw Pete and Vegas stepped over to him.
“I’m just… glad all ended well,” said Tankhun and Vegas nodded.
“Macau told me everything. Thank you,” said Vegas and Tankhun shook his head.
“I didn’t really do much,” said Tankhun. “I mean – we’re family,” he said and smiled. “Right?” asked Tankhun, offering his hand to Vegas.
A handshake?
Vegas rolled his eyes and pushed Tankhun’s hand away. Khun was about to start complaining but then Vegas hugged him and he stopped in his tracks, standing there completely petrified even after Vegas moved away.
“What just happened?” asked Tankhun.
“It’s called a hug,” said Vegas in his usual tone of voice and Pete grinned all the way up to his ears. That really warmed up his heart.
Pete was discharged from the hospital a few days later. He was put on bed rest. Venice, Macau and Vegas were more than happy to take care of him to the point that it started driving Pete mad, but at the same time he appreciated it.
Everything was just perfect the way that it was.
