Summary:

Chapter Text

"Hiro!" Cass exclaimed gleefully "Come on down, I have a surprise."

She hid the tickets behind her back and watched as her nephew sluggishly made his way down the stairs. Hiro yawned and rubbed his eyes.

"Yeah?" He said

"So lately, I've noticed you haven't been enjoying your summer. If anything you always seem stressed."

Hiro tensed. He knew his aunt would eventually catch on to his behavior lately, but he had hoped that she would at least find out after summer. His mind went through all the missions he's done with his team. He sighed.

"So," she continued "I've decided to book a trip for the both of us."

"What? Where?" Hiro said, his eyes widening

"Mexico!" She smiled "We're going to Mexico." She pulled the tickets from behind her back.

"M-Mexico!?" Hiro exclaimed "But why? Why not a water park? Or-Or uhh..." He tried to think of anything else.

"Oh come on Hiro," Cass said "This is a chance to view a different country together, learn about a different culture, try something new." She was practically bouncing with excitement "Plus I already paid for the tickets."

Hiro shook his head "Look, Aunt Cass, as much as I would love to travel with you, I have things to do here."

She put her hands on her hips "Like what?"

He opened his mouth but shut it quickly.

"That's what I thought." She walked over to him and put her hands on her nephew's shoulders. The tickets slightly bending "Look, I just want you to relax for a week Hiro. A week. Can you at least give it a chance?"

Hiro looked away from his aunt's pleading eyes.

'A week off does sound tempting.' He thought 'I think they'll manage without me.' He sighed

"Okay." He replied, looking back at Cass "Okay, I'll go."

Cass smiled and hugged him tight. Hiro hugged back.

"Thanks sweetie. You won't regret it." She said.

"I hope so." He pulled away from the hug "When do we leave?"

"Next week," she said "So make sure to tell your friends and pack for the hot weather."

Hiro smiled "Okay."

.

~Next week~

.

"Hiro are you ready?" Cass called out from the stairs

"Yeah, just give me a sec." He replied

He folded the last of his clothes and an extra sweater for the cold nights. He still had his doubts about leaving the team by themselves for a week, but they assured him that they would be fine on their own and told him to go and enjoy himself. So after a small skim through his list of needed things, he finally finished packing and made his way downstairs.

"Are you not bringing Baymax?" Cass asked

"Nah, Wasabi wanted to run some tests on him so he's watching him over the week."

"Okay then, let's go."

.

.

"Bienvenidos a Mexíco, esperamos que disfrute su estadía." Welcome to Mexico, we hope you enjoy your stay."

"Oh Hiro can you believe it?" Cass said in excitement "We're actually here."

Hiro took his sweater off and wrapped it around his waist "Yeah, it is pretty cool."

Cass picked up her and Hiro's suitcase. She handed him his.

"Welp, let's go find our hotel."

.

"Hi welcome to El hotel de la casa. How may I help you?" The receptionist said in a heavy accent.

"Hi." Cass said "I made reservations here about 2 days ago."

"Un momento señorita" She said typing on the computer keys "Ah, are you Cass?"

"Yes."

"Okay then here is your key." She opened a drawer, took out a silver key and gave it to Cass.

"Thank you so much."

"De nada. Enjoy your stay."

Both Cass and Hiro made they're way up some stairs and looked for their room. When they did, they unpacked their stuff. Hiro flopped onto his bed and stretched. Cass did the same on the bed next to his.

"So, where do you want to visit first?" Cass asked, turning to lay on her stomach so she could look at him.

"Um, wherever I guess." Hiro said. His stomach growled "Well actually, let's find a restaurant. I'm starving."

"Good thinking. Let's get ready to go."

Hiro nodded and took out a red T-shirt, black shorts and his navy blue sweater. Cass gathered a white T-shirt and dark blue shorts and walked into the bathroom. Hiro closed the blinds and changed into his new attire. Afterwards, he opened the blinds again and stared out the window. He took in the view of the colorful and non-colorful buildings. When Cass walked out of the bathroom, they both made their way out side and began looking around.

Hiro watched as his aunt took pictures of almost everything. Sometimes asking him to pose in front of something for her or with her. It felt as if time flew by because by the time they finished eating, it was already almost dark.

"Whew I am stuffed." Cass said "And it's getting chilly."

Hiro took his sweater off and gave it to her.

"Oh no sweetie I couldn't." She said

"It's fine Aunt Cass, I'm not even cold so you can use it." He nudged it towards her

She took it and put it on "Wow," she said "I keep forgetting how big you are now." She looked up at him "Your so grown up now."

Hiro rubbed the back of of his head "Guess so."

She smiled then looked past him. Her eyes lit up and she ran across him to a wall. He walked over and saw what she was looking at.

Dia de los Muertos

Concurso de música a las 7:30 esta noche

(Day of the Dead music contest at 7:30 tonight)

"Oh Hiro we have to go." Cass said in excitement

"If you want." Hiro replied

She grabbed his hand "I do want. Let's go." She took off in a sprint, dragging her nephew with her

.

"We're here!" Cass exclaimed "And look, they just started." She pointed at the group of musicians playing their instruments.

Hiro put his hands on his knees "C-Cool," he panted "But next time, we walk."

She winced with a smile "Sorry."

Hiro shook his head and took a deep breath. He looked up and noticed a long line of people with instruments.

"Looks like we're gonna be here a while" he muttered to himself.

He looked beside him to say something to his aunt, but she wasn't there. His heart rate sped up.

"Aunt Cass?" Hiro said, looking around "Aunt Cass?!" He said, a little louder this time.

He began walking around frantically pushing people away while apologizing to them. He called out her name again but the music drowned his voice out. After 2 minutes of looking, he finally found her talking to another boy who had a white guitar strapped to his back. Hiro sighed in relief and made his way toward her.

"Don't do that." He said when he made it within earshot "You gave me a heart attack."

Both Cass and the boy looked over at him. Hiro felt his heart skip a beat up on looking at the Hispanic male. He looked about the same age as Hiro, maybe a little younger. Hiro blushed a light pink

"Sorry, I just couldn't help myself ." Cass said with a shrug "I won't do it again."

"Please don't."

"Promise." She replied with a small nod "Oh this is Miguel by the way."

She nodded her head towards him. Miguel looked at Hiro again and gave him a small smile.

"Hola. As you heard I'm Miguel." He said in a voice with a heavy accent.

"Oh! I-I'm Hiro." He stuttered

'A stutter?!' Hiro thought to himself "Seriously? I just met him and I'm already head over heels?'

"I've heard. So what brings you two to Santa Cecilia?"

"Well my Aunt Cass brought me here for summer break."

"Ah." He nodded. He then turned to Cass and began asking her some questions.

Hiro, however, took this as a chance to study Miguel's figure. Miguel looked strong but sort of lanky. He was about the same height as Hiro, only about an inch shorter. He had blue jeans and a zipped up red sweater with a single white stripe going down the sleeves. His thick dark brown hair seemed fluffy and smooth. His tan skin glowed in the light of the street lamps. Miguel turned to Hiro and he began to talk. Hiro wasn't listening though. He was busy staring at Miguel's facial figures. He had large brown eyes. Whenever he smiled, Hiro noticed that he had one dimple on one cheek but not the other. The Mexican also had a small gap between his canine and tooth next to his front one. There was a small birthmark between his nose and upper lip.

"Hiro?" Miguel asked, rolling the r in his name. (Like Honey Lemon)

"Hmm? Oh!" He cheeks turned a dark red "S-Sorry I zoned out."

Miguel laughed "It's okay."

'Even his laugh is cute!'

"I was just asking if you really knew how to build things."

"Oh yeah definitely," Hiro said "I like to invent a lot of stuff."

"That's so-"

"A continuación, Miguel Rivera."

"Oh, it's my turn." He turned his guitar around "Wish me luck." He ran off to the small stage

"Good luck!" Cass and Hiro said.

"Hiro, let's get a better view." She said, pulling him so they stood in the front of the stage.

Everything was quiet for a minute until Miguel yelled out. Few people cheered. He then played fast and slowed down a bit.

"What color is the sky?

Ay mi amor, ay mi amor

You tell me that it's red

Ay mi amor, ay mi amor

Where should I put my shoes?

Ay mi amor, Ay mi amor

You say 'Put them on your head!'

Ay mi amor, ay mi amor

You make me un poco loco

Un poquititito loco

The way you keep me guessing"

Miguel leaned forward, towards Hiro. Both males staring into each other's eyes.

"I'm nodding and I'm yes-ing

I'll count it as a blessing"

He winked at him, making the Asian boy blush a light red.

"That I'm only, un poco loco!"

Cass elbowed him. He looked over and saw her smiling at him. He smiled while rolling his eyes.

"I think he might like you," She said in a teasing voice. "And if I didn't know any better,. I think you might like him to."

Hiro scoffed but could feel his heart doing flips in his chest.

.

"¡El ganador es, Miguel Rivera!"

Everyone cheered out his name, others telling him to play another song, or just yelling like he did in the beginning of the song. Miguel waved and walked off the stage. Hiro and Cass walked over to see Miguel. When they found him, he was surrounded by a small crowd of people. They were hugging and smiling at him. Miguel looked up and saw the two. He waved at them, the attention of the crowd going from him to Hiro and Cass. Miguel walked over to them.

"So," he started "What did you think."

"You were amazing." Cass said. She elbowed Hiro

"Yeah, yeah." He said rubbing the back of his neck "You were- are incredible."

Miguel blushed a beautiful shade of red that matched his skin tone "Thank you."

"How do you know english so well?" Cass asked

"I take an English class at school." Miguel replied "I'm hoping to one day travel around to different places, and that starts with learning a new language."

"Miguel!" Someone from the small crowd called.

"Coming abuela!" He said

"Is that your whole family?" Hiro asked before Miguel could say goodbye

"Yep! Pretty big huh?"

"Yeah."

"Well I gotta go." Miguel said, turning around "¡Hasta luego!" He ran off to his family

Hiro and Cass waved, turned and walked the opposite direction.

"Do you think we might run into him again?" Cass asked

Hiro shrugged "We might. Why?"

"Because I think there's something blossoming between the two of you."

Hiro's cheeks turned a light pink "It wouldn't matter if there was or not. We're only here for a week."

"Right." Cass said

'It would be nice though.' Hiro thought.
