Work Text:

The human kombatant cracked an eye from his mediation, observing the rush of air as his demigod companion ran drills.

Outside. Always outside. Even the empty room he usually used was… inadequate for their needs when the demigod got it into his head to drop by.

In all of his years communing with deities, Nightwolf had never met one quite so... loud.

Of course, Fujin didn't mean it or mean anything by it. Wind by its very nature was sound. One could feel it, yes, but it didn't matter whether one was outside or within shelter: wind rattled the windows, shook walls, uprooted trees, and, in a very annoying turn of events that Nightwolf was very familiar with, made discordant music with wind chimes. The swinging of the sword, however, seemed to catch and manipulate the air with every swing.

"Fujin!"

The demigod stumbled, nearly dropping the weapon. "Sorry! Sorry... I'm doing it again, aren't I?"

Nightwolf glared at him, eyes empty. "You are a walking force of nature, wind god. Of course you're doing it again."

Fujin sheathed the sword, fidgeting awkwardly. He tried to not manipulate his element as he moved away from the fire, flinching as a chime knocked into other notes. Nightwolf remained emotionless as he watched the bumbling god struggle to keep the peace. It touched him, really, that Fujin wore his heart on his metaphorical sleeve. Other gods could be unfeeling and cruel or so above them that they could not possibly hope to care about humanity fully. But Fujin... well, the god could fight with vicious brutality, but the only descriptor that Nightwolf could pin down was "sweet." He might be a bit of a literal airhead at times, but the occasional "thoughtful" popped up as well.

Nightwolf stood, snagging Fujin's arm. The demigod offered a sheepish smile at his stoic companion.

"Sorry..."

The bright white eyes looked away as Nightwolf moved close enough to feel the anxiety rolling off of the god in waves.

"You try entirely too hard," he deadpanned, pressing a kiss to the taller man's cheek. Fujin hugged himself around the middle with his free arm, jumping in surprise as he felt a sudden puff of air against his skin.

He looked up to see Nightwolf backing away, the ghost of a tight-lipped smile on his face. Kiba appeared behind him, tongue lolling out, bolting after his human as Nightwolf took off into the trees behind his home.

Fujin grinned so wide that his face hurt, leaving the earth completely as he gave chase after the man who kept him grounded.
