He was detained after he had flooded Seido with the help of Rain, locked in Lei Chin prison for his crimes against both realms. Did he escape to create more chaos? How would he? But, given the rumors of both the general and his minions coming back to strike the lust for war in the hearts of Outworlders after they escaped, nothing like such was completely out of the question.

Nightwolf manages a wry smile, squeezing Fujin's hand. "But why do I look like hell?"
Fujin bites his lip in concern. "No, you don't."
"Yes, I do." Nightwolf points to his clothes neatly folded across the room, clearly heavily washed and sewn up to repair some damage. He's dressed in some spare monk robes at the moment; not unlike a bathrobe, but comfortable. He raises a skeptical eyebrow at Fujin. "Whatever happened to my clothes, must have happened to me, too."
Fujin glances sideways. Liu had warned him that the humans wouldn't remember all the details. "We had to fight Shang Tsung in his time control hat."

Summary
If Scorpion was good at one thing, it was doubting himself and his worth.
The day after his first kiss with his companion, Kuai Liang, Scorpion finds himself feeling insecure. Without a real body, specifically a real head, Scorpion could not reciprocate his kiss with Kuai. Without a real body, Scorpion could not hold Kuai without fear of burning him. Without a real body, Scorpion did not feel worthy of being with Kuai Liang.
Deciding to take his insecurities to the elder gods, Scorpion is given a task. To reclaim his mortality and once again become human, he must conquer the task of opening his heart.
In other words, Scorpion must make… Friends.

But they had squashed that rivalry long ago. They became acquaintances. And then friends. And then even closer friends. The point was that they had not fought in a very long time. They were both set off so shockingly easy this time. Well, it was always easy to set Scorpion off. But this time, both Scorpion and Kuai Liang were fuming.
It had all started on a mission that Raiden had sent them on a few days ago. Missions together were usually simple, quick, and done without much unnecessary arguing.
But this time had been different. This time something had gone wrong.
