Work Text:
"Peter, it's freezing! Where's your coat?"
"Mr. Stark, it's not that cold. You're overreacting."
"Overreacting my ass. I'm not the one who can't thermoregulate, you are. I don't need you going into hibernation."
"I...I don't think it works like that."
"Well, I don't want to put it to the test. Now go and get your damn coat or I won't let you go to school and you'll get a detention for being late."
"What? You're insane."
"I suggest you go get that coat on, unless you want to listen to one of Cap's PSA's in detention."
Peter rolled his eyes, finally stomping off in search of his coat. Tony smiled in triumph and watched him walk around the room.
"Oh, did you remember to pack your homework from last night?" He asked whilst Peter was still searching for his unneeded coat.
"Yes, Mr. Stark." Peter rolled his eyes again.
"Hey, I gotta check. May's gone for a few weeks so I'm taking her place. What about lunch money?"
"Got some already."
"How much? I can give you more if you want."
"No."
"Alright, alright." Tony stuck his hands up in fake surrender. "Got your...pencil case?"
"Yep."
"Books?"
"Yes."
"Water?"
"Yes! I have everything, Mr. Stark. Stop worrying." Peter said, finally finding his coat and slipping it on before making his way back over to Tony, who was stood at the elevator.
"Fine, I'll believe you." He reached out to ruffle Peter's hair. "Have a good day, kid. Study hard."
Peter scoffed. "Gee, thanks, Dad."
The boy immediately froze.
He did not just...
Call Tony Stark...
Dad.
Peter gulped and reluctantly looked up at Tony. "U-Uh...I'm-I'm sorry. I didn't mean that, I-I was just saying...uh-"
Tony smirked before pushing Peter into the elevator.
"Go to school, kid. Be a good student. Your old man wants good feedback from your teachers at the next parent-teacher meeting." He said, pointing at the kid.
Peter groaned. He was never going to live that down.
"Mr. Stark!" He whined, face flushing red.
"I mean it, Pete. I want my son doing good in school."
Peter instantly pressed the button to go down. "I'm leaving."
Tony barked out a laugh. "I'll see you later."
As soon as the doors shut, Peter practically collapsed to the floor in embarrassment.
Tony stared at the shut doors of the elevator, smiling with adoration and his heart wanting to explode. Sure, he teased the kid about it, but he actually really liked Peter calling him Dad. It just...worked. And truth be told, he wanted to be Peter's Dad.
"FRIDAY?"
"Already been recorded, boss."
"Perfect."
