Duck Cassoulet:

Summary:

The story about that time Booker taught Joe French.

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Nile: "So, this duck cassoulet, is it an old family recipe?"

Booker: "Yes, my grandmother's."

Booker tries to hide his grin behind the glass.

Nile: "Why are you grinning like that, Book?"

Nicky: "Maybe it has to do with that Book once played a trick on Joe with the recipe."

Joe: "It's still not funny."

Nile looks at Joe.

Nile: "Why isn't it funny?"

Joe: "I don't want to talk about it."

Joe crosses his arms with a grumble.

Booker: "Let me tell you why it is funny. Once, Joe kept on nagging me because he wanted to recite some poetry perfectly in French."

Nile: "Let me guess, you taught Joe the recipe instead of the poem."

Nicky: "Yes, you should have seen the look on Joe's face when he found out what he had been reciting."

Booker: "That look alone made it worth being chased through the entire Madrid by an angry man with a scimitar."

Everyone but Joe laughs.

Joe: "It's still not funny."
