Work Text:

It's a normal Wednesday morning (or night, depends on how you view 3am)... mostly-
Until Todoroki realized he had a fever, one minute he was asleep, the next minute he woke up sneezing- every time he sneezed, his ice went up the wall and he had to melt it down with his fire quirk "Thank god I can at least use my fire.." Todoroki mumbled, as he kept sneezing and freezing things, until the sneezing stopped.

"Huh- maybe I'm sick.." Todoroki mumbled, choking on snot running down his throat "maybe it's allergies-" Todoroki told himself as he put a thermometer under his tongue, and it read as a fever (obviously it's a specialized thermometer because of the half and half temperature rate in his body because of his quirk)

After Todoroki put down the thermometer, he sneezed so loud it woke up everyone within like 20 feet, Deku's dorm was nearby, so of course he woke up too.

Deku walked into Todoroki's room, wearing a mask and holding a bag filled with his favorite homemade remedies for the flu and allergy symptoms "Hey, buddy, you doin okay?" Deku cautiously asked, staying back and keeping a distance to avoid getting sick.

Todoroki shook his head "I'm sick.. what's that?" Todoroki said, before pointing at the bag Deku was carrying "Oh, just some stuff to help.. when I was sick as a kid, my mom used to put a drop of essential oils in a big cup of ice water and she'd make me drink it, along with some chicken noodle soup... and you look sick, you need to stay hydrated" Deku replied, getting a couple of things out of his bag

"But- I'm not throwing up, they only tell sick people to hydrate to keep from getting dehydrated from vomiting-" Todoroki tried to protest, his voice sounding really off as he tried to breathe through his nose, only managing to sound like a broken car trying to start.

"Yeah- but everyone needs to hydrate, so, drink up" Deku replied, handing over a cup of water with a single drop of essential oil in it, Todoroki rolled his eyes and took a sip, before immediately spitting it out "What the hell- that's way too strong- how did you drink this stuff? How are you alive?" Todoroki exclaimed, his voice sounding strangled

"I might've put in too much oil? But that's how much my mom usually did, and I'm fine- if you're going to be picky, how about some soup?" Deku replied "Soup is fine-" Todoroki started, but was interrupted by his own sneeze; he melted the cup his water was in with his fire quirk, and now he was covered in oil water, but he acted like nothing happened and continued trying to rant about soup.

Deku just gave a panicked glare, eyeing Todoroki up and down "How did you not react? You're covered in water- that's probably cold" Todoroki nodded, as if saying 'yeah, and?' Deku just walked into another room, carrying Todoroki with him, bridal style.

"Where are you taking me?" Todoroki questioned, half asleep "You should take a warm bath, that might fix the fever, and besides, you're covered in oil water" Deku replied, setting Todoroki down next to the bath tub, as he started a bath "I'll get you some soup, you just sit in the bath" Deku said and walked away

Todoroki got undressed and jumped into tbe bath tub, the water was running and he was covered in bubbles, Todoroki tried to turn the faucet off, but sneezed while doing so, and froze his hand to the knob. He tried to use his fire to unfreeze himself, and ended up warming the water way too hot, he panicked and tried to cool it with his ice, but only got stuck to the tub again, so he just gave up and let his own ice capture him in place.

Deku eventually came back, holding a bowl of soup "Heyy- you doin okay, buddy? How did you get stuck like that?" Deku said as he walked in and kneeled next to the tub, Todoroki just started crying quietly and hit his head against the wall before leaning on it.

Deku turned off the water, and gently rubbed his hand through Todoroki's hair "Cool it, you're fine" Deku said and moved his hand back to the bowl and started feeding Todoroki, because his hand was stuck and he couldn't move it.

By the time Todoroki finished his soup, the ice melted and Deku started walking out of the bathroom "I'll get you some pajamas to wear, stay put" Deku called out as he left; by the time he came back with the pajamas, Todoroki had somehow managed to set the water on fire and was panicking "Just freeze it-" Deku said, putting the clothes down; Todoroki tried to freeze it, but only got himself stuck in a tub of ice. Deku started pouring warm water over it "Just stop using the fire until you're better-" Deku said "Like I'm doing it on purpose?!" Todoroki replied, starting to cry again.

"Not what I meant-" Deku said, and finally unfroze Todoroki out of the ice "I'll just get you another remedy to try- put the pajamas on and go lay down in my dorm" Deku said and walked away.

Todoroki did what he was told, and Deku walked in, holding a stuffed animal, Saltine crackers and Gatorade, he set it down on top of Todoroki "Just get some rest, stay hydrated, maybe eat some crackers- I have to go to class- I found a quirk canceling bracelet you can wear to temporarily stop your quirk from acting up" Deku said and put the bracelet on Todoroki "Good luck!" Deku called out, as he ran out the door, wearing his uniform and backpack.
