Chapter 1: Part 1

Chapter Text

“Babe… isn’t us moving in too quick? Don’t we need to slow down a bit?” Elle said as she posed in the mirror taking another photo of her 4-month baby bump. Jake chuckled from the bed, “Says the 4-month baby mama!” Elle stuck her chin out. “I mean… I’ve only met your family twice… don’t I need to meet them more? My parents have met you loads of times.” Jake pulled a face. “Ok, so only my mum and brother have met you loads of times, but that’s not the point.” Jake laughed and came up behind Elle, putting his hands on her baby bump. “Ok… I’ll arrange a dinner for the whole family on Saturday.” Elle winced, “I’m sorry, I can’t do that. My niece’s having her first ultrasound and I said I’d go with her… plus I have a job interview then.” Jake shook his head slightly, “No problem, we’ll do it Sunday then. That way we can have roast dinner.” Elle nodded, “Awesome. Me and your mom can do the dinner while you and your son play whatever the hell you play on the XBOX.” Jake nodded, “Sounds awesome,” He said into her neck.

The baby kicked.

~~

Sunday rolled around and Elle was stressing about what to wear. “Babe, just wear whatever makes you comfortable… my mom won’t care… she had 4 big babies, she’ll understand.” Elle laughed, “Ok, I’ll wear my maternity jeggings and striped top then.”

The baby kicked again.

Elle smiled as she walked into the kitchen, getting the pots and pans ready for dinner when the doorbell rang. Jake walked into the kitchen, frowning. “They shouldn’t be here yet, it’s still too early.” Jake opened the door and was greeted by a muscular man. You walked out of the kitchen as well and stood at Jake's side. Elle gasped as she opened her arms.

“MOMMY!” A little girl shrieked as she ran into her arms. Elle looked up as she picked up her daughter and put her on Elle's hip. “Hang on, aren’t you supposed to be camping this weekend? Steven?” Maia, your daughter, leant towards Jake and you handed her over.

“Yeah, I know… I wanted to but work made me come in. They said that I could either come in with Maia, which I would never do, or I lose my job…” You sighed, “Yeah, I get that… you’ll get her tomorrow then?” Steven nodded, “Yeah and I asked for my 3-week holiday so I can take Ellie to Crete for 3 weeks instead.” Elle nodded, feeling happy. Jake cleared his throat. “Oh, Jake, I’m sorry. This is Steven, Maia's dad.” Jake shook hands with him and raised his eyebrows, “Forgive me for asking, but what do you do as a job?” Steven chuckled, “You wanna know why I can’t take Maia with me… I work as a builder on big projects… I don’t wanna risk her safety.” Jake smiled, “Good to know. Oh shit, my mum’s here… I’m sorry, dude, but I’m gonna have to kick you out now…” Steven laughed, “I like you, Elle's chosen well… see you tomorrow Maia!” Steven retreated up the drive and left, waving. Jake shut the door and let Maia go to her room to unpack.

Jake brought Elle in for a hug and waited for the doorbell to ring. Elle smiled and detangled herself, “Go and put the kettle on, yeah? I’ll greet your mum.” Jake smiled and walked off, leaving you to answer the door to Niki. The doorbell rang again and you opened the door.

“Hey, Cas-oh…” At the door were 3 children on their phones with big bags at their feet. The daughter put her phone down and scoffed, “You aren’t dad.” Elle raised her eyebrows. Cassie smiled and wiggled through, “Hey! How are my granddaughters doing?” She said as she put a hand on Elle's bump and glanced over her shoulder, “Maia's just unpacking her dolls and books. Baby is very active and enjoys body slamming my bladder…” Cassie laughed, “Imagine this with twins!” Elle and Cassie laughed as they hugged. Liam and Nora fist-bumped her as they walked by.

~~~~~~~~
Once everyone was settled with drinks, Elle and Jake showed the children where they would be staying. The last time his kids came to stay, was around 5 years ago, before his Top Gun graduation, missions, and deployments. During that time, Elle's father had passed away, leaving her his mansion estate in Georgia, where they moved in.
"Cool! I have my own tv!" Liam cheered when he was shown his room. "Well, if you like, you can pick some furniture and paint over the weekend with me. We can decorate your room?" Elle smiled at the 10-year-old's excitement. He cheered. Nora's room was across the hall, and full of Elle's old princess and fantasy stuff from when she was a young girl.
Maia, obviously, had the majority of her old toys, but the stuff she didn't want went into Nora's room, coupled with gifts brought from her and Jake.
Sienna... was tricker. Elle showed her the old attic room, where Elle used to stay. Sienna scoffed. "Multi-million dollar house, yet you can't afford a decent-sized bedroom?" And shut the door in her face. Elle ground her teeth. "Ignore her babe. She's just sour because her mom's not here," Jake tried to reassure. Elle rolled her eyes. "S'not really an excuse, but fine."
~~~~~~~~

Later that afternoon, Elle finished in the bathroom and exhaled as she felt heartburn slowly move in. Elle walked out of the bathroom slowly and heard Sienna whisper, “Finally…” and walk into the bathroom after her. Elle rolled her eyes, remembering that it was just teenagers and that Elle had it to come twice over.

Elle walked into the kitchen and pulled one of the bar stools over to peel the potatoes while Cassie prepared the veg. “Cass… have I done something wrong?” Elle asked quietly. “Why would you ask that?” Cassie answered, turning around with a frown on her face. “It’s just… I don’t think Sienna likes me.” Cassie snorted, “She's a teenager, she doesn’t like anyone.” Elle laughed, feeling a bit better. Cassie sighed and grabbed her hands, “Elle, she's just protective over Jake… she doesn't want anyone to hurt him. Whoever argues with him, she gets really pissed at. She hasn't liked any of his girlfriends since he split up with Olivia 6 years ago. She'll eventually warm up to you as long as you don’t hurt Jake.” Elle nodded, understanding the situation more.

Elle and Cassie continued to make dinner.

~~~
All hell broke loose when Maia got bored and knocked the table as she picked up her doll from the floor, knocking a glass of water onto Sienna's dinner.
Sienna went red as she jumped back from the table, flicking water off her top. “YOU FUCKING IDIOT!” She screamed. Maia started crying at the sudden shout.
Cassie made her way over to move Maia away from the scene while Liam got some napkins. “HOW DARE YOU CALL MY DAUGHTER AN IDIOT!!” Elle yelled, slamming her hands on the table, causing Sienna to jump. “Sienna May Seresin, you do NOT use language like that in my household!” Jake sternly spoke, putting his hands on her shoulders. Elle sat back down on her chair and took deep breaths as Sienna and Jake argued.
“IF YOU NEVER LEFT MOM, THIS WOULDN’T HAVE HAPPENED!"
“WHAT WOULDN’T HAVE HAPPENED?! HUH!?"
“YOU KNOCKING UP ANOTHER SLUT AND HAVING MORE KIDS!!!"
Elle slammed her hands on the table, the water and drinks wobbling. Jake stared in worry. "I don't know who the fuck gave you the idea that you could speak to me like that, IN MY OWN HOUSE, but I can assure you, Miss Seresin, it will not happen again!" She snapped. Sienna's eyes blazed with fury. Cassie hurried to help Liam clean up and then ushered him and Nora out of the room.
Elle glared at the fifteen year old. "You can either take that attitude away, or you can get out," She snapped. "Woah, let's be rational," Jake interjected. "No, Jake. I don't give a fuck if she's the future queen of fuckin England, if she disrespects me and my daughter in my own house then I don't want her in it!" Elle shouted. Jake's eyes blazed, but he spun to the fifteen-year-old. "You're grounded until further notice. No going out with friends, no phones, no Ipads, computers, nothing! And certainly no driving!" Sienna sputtered. "But my tests in a few weeks!"
"Shoulda thought about that!" Jake snapped. Sienna's chest heaved. "Get to your room now. I want your stuff on my bed within the next ten minutes or there's gonna be trouble," He spoke. Sienna shouted as she stormed out of the room. Elle began to clear up the table. "Listen, I know you're gonna be her step-mom, but please don't discipline her like that again. It's my job as her dad to keep her in line." Jake said.
Elle raised her eyebrows in disbelief. "So I'm supposed to just let her speak to me like shit, yeah?" Jake rolled his eyes. "I dealt with it," Elle scoffed. "She can't think she can get away with it when you're not around, Jake. She needs to know I can tell her off, just like you can," She snapped. "But you can't. You're not her mom," Elle froze. She scoffed. "I don't have to take this." She snatched up her keys and walked into the living room. "I'm going out,"
~~~

When Elle got back to the house at 11:00, Maia was long asleep. Elle carried her in and put her in her room, looking in the other rooms to see (unfortunately) Sienna was asleep in the guest bedroom. Elle went to her room and settled into bed.

“If it’s any consolation, Sienna said she’s sorry,” Jake muttered, half asleep. Elle groaned, “I don’t care. She overstepped the mark when she called my daughter an idiot and me a slut.” Jake sighed, “I told her you’d say that… and that you probably won’t forgive her for a long while.” Elle huffed, “You're damn right I won’t. Night,” Elle snapped and turned over.

~~~
It was 3 weeks later when Elle and Sienna finally spoke again… not under good circumstances.
Elle came home from work at 12:00 pm, 5 and a half months preggo, exhausted and ready to watch Netflix. As she was walking to the bathroom to change, she heard crying. Elle frowned and knocked on the door. The crying abruptly stopped and was replaced by sniffing, “I stubbed my toe,” Elle rolled her eyes, hearing the lie from Sienna. “Open the door,” Elle said, still pissed off. The door unlocked and she wiggled through, sitting on the chest full of towels. Elle looked around the bathroom and saw a small stick on the floor. She pointed to it and clicked her fingers. Sienna sighed as she handed it to you. Elle gasped as she looked at it. “Sienna Seresin, your father is going to kill you…"
Sienna was pregnant.
She burst into tears as she looked at her feet. Elle pulled her into a hug, knowing how miserable she felt as a soon-to-be teenage mum.
She sniffed as she pulled away, “Why are you being nice to me, I was a bitch to you… and Maia…” Elle nodded, “Yeah, you were.” Sienna looked up at you, “So why?” Elle sighed and pulled her in for a hug, “Because I know what your feeling… and we won’t kick you out.” Sienna trembled. “I’m so sorry that I was like that to you… I’m scared, Elle…” Elle nodded, “I know and I’ll help you… if you don’t ever, ever, speak to me, or my daughter, like that again. Clear?” Sienna nodded. “Ok.. baby steps then. Work out who to tell and how to tell them."
