Wulf awoke to sunlight hitting their face, their white hair shining against the warm light. He turned to face away the light, it was their day off? So why should she have to get up yet? They’re to comfy under their quilts and blankets to get up right now. However the birds and sounds of people wouldn’t allow her the blessing of being able to sleep in today. They groaned and turned over, sitting in their bed and blinking a bit to adjust to everything before putting their glasses on, the frames were gold and a round circle, framing their face quite well, as well as show the beauty of their lavender eyes.
They reached over and grabbed their canes, strapping each to their arms so they can walk properly, and began to try and stand. While yes it was near impossible to get up a lot of the time, they managed to get up. They shivered slightly as the cool air of her flat hit his skin, missing the soft warmth of their bed.
She walked over to her wardrobe and started looking for an outfit, they had just planned to visit a small cafe down the street however they still wished to look nice. Most would find the variety of his wardrobe to be a bit odd, but it was always something Wulf prided hearself with. The various flowy buttonups all varying in color and pattern, their summer dresses that gracefully moved with them wherever they may walk, and even the various skirts they owned. All of them was something he was used to wearing while growing up.
Wulf eventually settled on a light cropped jumper and a long skirt that had a plaid pattern. After getting dressed she walked into his bathroom to clean up their tattoos and piercings. Wulf had an austin bar on their nose, two ear piercings (one of which had to be re-pierced after his ears grew), and a piercing on each of their hands. Along with them were moon and star tattoos on each hand, sun and moon tattoos on her chest, a moon cycle down their torso, and a symbol above their pelvis. The tattoos were done in white ink, thus we're very eye catching against their darker skin.
After cleaning each tattoo and piercing gently they grabbed a hair tie and put their hair in its usual half up half down look, her silky hair felt soft in her hands.
After finishing up their normal routine they grabbed their tote bag and headed out the door. Their canes ticked softly on the sidewalk with each step they took. It was a nice day today, not too warm out and the streets fluttered with people. Every alley and walkway had the sounds of people talking, children running around, or just the sounds of the birds. This was one of the many reasons Wulf loved it here, everything was peaceful and had a charm. He never felt threatened here or like she needed to worry.
She passed by a flower shop, pausing shortly to admire their beauty. Maybe they should buy a bouquet for the flat, they thought to themselves.
After turning the curb the cafe she regularly visited was within sight. The place was run by a kind man and his wife. They would allow people to come in to study and or lounge usually, they even occasionally would let book clubs have their meetings take place there. Truly was a lovely place to Wulf.
They stepped in, and was soon greeted by the owner. He was a taller man, his skin was light like the inside of an apple, his hair was a golden brown. The man always wore a very kind smile.
Various leafy plants were scattered around the place along with warm fairy lights decorating the walls. The tables and booths looked aged, they’d been there for years. The walls were lined with various paintings and photographs of families or animals, everything had a comfortable and snug feeling to it.
Wulf walked up to the counter and greeted the man.
“Afternoon Lukas, how are you today? How’s Clair?” Wulf gently smiled
“Well good afternoon to you as well Mx.Rose, I’m doing great! Clair is out visiting her mother again, always doing something! Hah!” the man replied. “Want your usual tea and biscuit?”
Wulf nodded and grabbed their wallet “sounds delightful” She paid and walked over to a table by a lamp, the warm orange of the light shined against their hair, the light illuminating the fluffiness of their jumper.
Lukas, the man who took Wulf’s order, walked over to them and laid their tea down with a couple of biscuits.
“Thank you Lukas, you seem to be the only person to make my tea right!”
Lukas laughs, “Well it’s the least I can do for my prettiest customer”
Wulf smiled while their cheeks turned a warm shade of pink, “Why thank you Lukas, you’re quite handsome yourself.”
“Awe, thank you Wulf, say I’ve been meaning to ask, how do you stay looking so young?” Wulf sipped their tea and raised a brow, “I mean c'mon Wulf, I’ve known you for about 6 years now and you don’t look a day over 25!”
Wulf chuckled, his voice thick like honey and deep, “Well while I am flattered cher ami, I can assure you there’s no secret to it. Just something that runs in my family.” She moved her hair a bit, covering their pointed ears up subtly.
Lukas huffed and smiled, “Mmhm, keep your secrets then Mx.Forever Gorgeous! Oh! I meant to tell you, there’s this lad who’s been visiting the cafe pretty often, sayin’ he’s looking for you? Not sure why, he just said he needed to talk to you.”
Wulfs stomach sank a little from the beetles of anxiety bubbling in them. “Oh? Well I’ll be sure to keep an eye out”
Lukas nodded to him and was heading back to behind the counter before pausing, “oh yea! Meant to say this, he’s got square glasses, some sort of round hat, looks really ghostly”. Wulf thanked him for telling them this and went back to his tea.
She pulled out a book they had brought with them and started to read, it was a romance novel between two prince’s . Even when he was a child she always enjoyed love stories, they’re mother would read them to him every night before bed so reading them still today was like having a piece of home.
While still immersed with the book they were reading, the sound of the bell hanging above the cafe’s door opened. Wulf paid the noise no mind, just another customer walking in. Distantly the noise of the unknown person ordering could be heard along with the noise of the espresso machine.
Right when Wulf had gotten to the first time the two princes had kissed someone sat in front of them, pulling a chair out to seat themselves. They marked their page and looked confused, who would be sitting with them? Perhaps another person wanted to accompany them that night. He wasn’t against the idea, however she intended to just relax tonight.
The man sitting in front of Wulf had a sharp and angled face, they had squared glasses to match. Their hair was short, nearly buzzed, and a dirty blonde. Their face looked tired, light eye bags under each hazel eye of theirs. He wore a black wide brim hat, a dark slim fit turtleneck with a loose-fitting white button up with navy blue stripes, and black jeans. He was quite handsome but also seemed like they didn’t have good intentions to talk to Wulf.
The man cleared his throat and crossed his arms. He looked up and Wulf, looking unamused.
“You’re Wulf, correct?” He had a Scottish accent, his voice was mellow while every other part of him was the opposite. He sounded like he really didn’t want to be speaking.
“Yes, that would be me, pleasure to meet you Mister?,,”
“Angus. Angus Crowfeet, now enough of the pleasantries. I’m here to talk, and to help you a bit.”
“Oh? I don’t seem to be needing help currently but I’ll listen to your offer Mr.Crowfeet.”
Wulf rested her head on their chin and looked over at Angus. He sighed, slightly annoyed with Wulf.
“Fine then. Let’s start shall we?—“
Right as Angus began to speak again Lukas came over with his drink.
“Here’s your coffee! Oh! Hey there Wulf! I see you’ve got a friend! I wondered why he was asking for you!”
Wulf nodded and smiled “Yes! We were just introducing ourselves”
“Well I’ll let you and Angus here get back to it!” Lukas walked away and Angus sipped his coffee.
“Now. Back to business, why are you here?”
Wulf raised a brow, “excuse me?”
“Why. Are. You. Here? I won’t ask again.”
“I,,Well because I live down the street? I’m not quite sure what you’re asking, but if it’s because I moved from France I assure you I have my paperwork—“
“That’s not what I’m talking about and you know it. You’ve been here, what, 6 years? Yet you look the same age that you were when you arrived here.”
Wulf thought to themselves “well that’s definitely not creepy” but answered Angus nonetheless
“I guess I just don’t age very well? How do you know what I look like from 6 years ago?”
“Because I was one of the people around when you arrived. I thought nothin’ of it, saw you and thought you were just another person comin’ here from wherever else. Then a year later I see you again having a coffee and a blether with some girl, then I kept seeing you and every time, you were the exact same.”
“Oh. Well I certainly haven’t really seen you around so sorry for that? But I still don’t see how this is of any importance.”
Wulf was confused, yes, but even more worried at the thought that some stranger knew their secret. What would happen? Would he have to move all over again? Would she be killed? Or maybe this stranger could possibly just get clarification and leave.
“Oh don’t be stupid! You know what I’m talking about.”
“Angus I genuinely have no idea what you mean.”
Angus groaned and leaned a bit towards Wulf, speaking in a hushed but semi-aggressive tone.
“Listen here you twat, I know exactly what you are.”
Wulf paused for a moment stunned by what he said. Christ— he couldn’t be?—No he couldn’t be— Wulf thought he was done with this behavior years ago. She sat straight and sighed, then looked at them, quite upset.
“Listen Angus, if it’s because I’m queer—“
“What?! Christ— no it’s not that!” Angus looked quite embarrassed, meanwhile Wulf was a bit relieved that Angus didn’t mean that he was a homophobic prick.
“What I meant was, I know you’re a vampire. And don’t deny it.”
Wulf was shocked, the color left his face as their eyes widened. How did he know? Wulf had never done anything to give it away, Christ he rarely ever drank blood! So how did this stranger know?
Wulf swallowed the lump that formed in their throat.
“How,,how did you know?”
“Easy, I’m a witch and I know every type of creature just by looking at them. And you Wulf, you’re an Eldritch Vampire.”
Wulf felt like he could cry, they just wanted to be swallowed by the floor.
“Listen, I’ll pay you however you like, just keep this secret.”
Angus answered, sounding completely calm but serious.
“That’s the reason I’m here, Wulf. I don’t want cash, I’d like to help. There’s recently been some crazy red head going around asking for you. Whether she’s an ex or actually a hunter I don’t care, I know you’re a kind person, even if you’re a bit of a roaster, so I’m offering to let you stay at my cottage for a while.”
“If this is some trick to just have me sleep with you I’ll have to decline, but you seem sincere. Fine. I’ll have to grab some things but I’ll stay for a bit.
“Bloody hell Wulf, no offense but I’d rather eat my hand than sleep with you, what if you try feeding off me?”
“Ouch.”
“Sorry, but alright. I’ll come by at 12 yea? Be sure you’re ready.”
Wulf nodded and wrote her address on a napkin. The two gave their farewells and headed off.
Wulf walked away thinking about the redhead he mentioned. Hopefully it wasn’t who she thought it was.
Angus walked off thinking “Christ what a posh prick.”
