He’s never felt like this before.
Sure, he’d once been prom king, and the star of the Hawkins High swim team. He’s used to attention, used to people’s gazes following him through the halls, tinged with everything from covetous longing to outright envious hatred, used to basking in the euphoria of being paid attention to and praised by large swathes of strangers; but he’s never felt like this.
Exposed, literally and figuratively. Like along with his clothes, all the rest of him has been stripped bare, and Eddie can see right through to the filthy, dirty recesses of his mind. What he likes, what he wants, how all of this is driving him right to the brink.
Steve shivers again, lips parting to exhale, as though the simple act of breathing might loosen the incredible tension building in his gut.
