"Metis, darling?... Come back to bed, it's really late, we'll work on it more tomorrow..." Aura walked into their lab already in her pyjamas and slippers. "Even Simon is already asleep."
Metis was absorbed in her work, the desk lamp being the only source of light, as the night sky was completely black. She meticulously placed various pieces together, with grand attention to details. Normally Aura would love to watch her like this, it is after all the woman she fell head over heels in love with, but right now she dreamed of nothing more than the warmth of falling asleep together. Oh geez, when did SHE, out of all people, became so touchy-feely?
"He is? Well, then it must really be late." Metis turned her head to Aura with her delicate, almost wistful smile. "Don't worry dear, I'll be done in a minute."
She sighed. "I'm gonna wait in our bed."
Laying alone in bed while waiting made Aura really reflect on things. It let her to reminisce how lucky she was to meet Metis, and to get chosen by her as her partner. She loved everything about her so much, her passion, her smile, her quirks. Loved how creative and innovative she was, She felt her eyes slightly tearing up, but she wiped them quickly.
She heard the door opening.
"I'm here." Metis said with a small yawn, and she layed down on her side of the bed. She gently kissed Aura's cheek, which caused the other to turn to her and hug her.
"You're warm..."
"Is it a bad thing?"
"No." said Aura, as she thrown the blanket they shared over them. In the moments of silence, as they were snuggling, she listened to Metis's heartbeat.
"I love you." whispered Aura.
"I love you too, dear." Her parner, or, her lover whispered back.
"...We should probably tell Cosmos we two don't need separate rooms anymore, hm?" She chuckled.
