Work Text:

Whispering to himself, Pete wished that all the fog that was running through his head was just an illusion. Perhaps it appears as a result of excessive worry.

Don't all things arise with reason and consequence?

His decision is not a word that appears without a reason. He decided to leave from that family cause Pete had a heart he wanted to follow.

Even the decision is not an act without consequences. There were things that had to be sacrificed in exchange for the devotion he had put in for a long time for Main Family.

But it never crossed his mind that the consequences he had to face would be something this terrifying.

There was still the clear sound of three passing bullets that landed directly on Vegas's body. The ringing still lingered even two hours later when he sat down in the hospital corridor.

Pete tried not to think too much about it. He just wanted to take the Vegas body away to get help right away.

"Get out of here. Run. Please,"

He couldn't remember whose voice it was. Was it herself whispering or someone else telling her to move quickly in confusion.

His memory was hazy about how he finally managed to get Vegas to get help right away. All Pete remembered was the car, the steering wheel, the crying, and Vegas’s silence.

So when chaos no longer gripped him as Vegas's body was brought into the hospital room, Pete began to sort through the tangles in his mind.

Of course, Vegas is the one that dominates the tangle. There was nothing he could do but wait. Get rid of it first, let's try to unravel another tangle.

The case for his resignation from the Main Family bodyguard position. That action makes Pete no longer have any work. His current status is unclear. After this, he didn't know what to do to pass the time. His decision was based on the premise that if he was still part of the Main Family, having a relationship with Vegas would be impossible .

Pete didn't want that to happen. His feelings were too bubbling to be confined within limits. He wanted to love Vegas freely.

Maybe later, once Vegas's condition was clear, Pete could start by finding a new house for himself. After that maybe he will start something he never had the chance to do before. Building a coffee or tea shop doesn't sound that bad.

Maybe his relationship with Vegas could also start with a simple thing. Slowly getting to know each other's small details. Maybe he could also allow Vegas to visit and stay at his new house. Or Pete doesn't mind spending time wherever Vegas decides to stay.

Pete was stunned when he realized that there was still one thing missing from his tangle.

A new tangle appeared.

Vegas didn't just live alone with his father, who by now would have been more than dead body. Vegas still has one person who is part of the family. Macau. Which escapes people's attention.

A smack hit Pete's head as he realized that the second child of the Minor Family might not even notice that his father was dead and his brother was on the verge of suffering.

Now how to report it?

Just as Pete was thinking with his head sinking as if to join his knees, someone grabbed his collar. It happened so fast that Pete wasn't ready. One punch, this time real, hit his left cheek. Not so strong but able to make Pete, who was still overcome with exhaustion, confused.

Pete wasn't the only one limping. The perpetrator staggered a little. Two steps back and the person was back on his feet.

"Can you get out of here?"

There was a tremor in his voice. Even though Pete knew, the young man in front of him was trying to appear as intimidating as his brother. And he seems to have succeeded, if he got rid of the fear in his pupils.

"Mr Macau,"

Pete still knew how to bend over. Paying respect to the younger brother of the man he loves.

"Are you deaf?"

Pete shook his head. Thinking of a line of words that might calm Macau's anger a little.

"I'm no longer part of the Main Family if that's what you're worried about,"

"Then you think I believe?"

Macao snorted. Still doubts about Pete's whereabouts which he thinks is strange.

"I'm not forcing you to believe. But I'm here of my own accord, I'm here as who I am. As Pete, which is not part of anything. I just want to drive Vegas and make sure he’s all right,"

Macau looked at the figure in front of him who was still looking down with his hands clasped together. Position as a bodyguard facing part of the family.

"Who the hell are you for Vegas?"

Pete bit the inside of his cheek. This question is too unexpected. As much as Pete thought, the answer was too hard to find. He doesn't know who he is for Vegas. A pet? Maybe yes, but that's impossible to say to Macau. Vegas never really explained the label of their relationship. Vegas just said he loved him, and that too before running away from him in the middle of a fight.

There was only one thing he knew. That he loved Vegas too. Pete didn't mind being labeled as a pet. As long as Vegas is still with him and loves him. His feelings were real, something he wanted to reciprocate, and he managed to reciprocate.

"I am someone who loves him. Who wishes him to find happiness after the many things he has sacrificed,"

"Father is not a thing worth sacrificing. He deserves to be eliminated,"

For the first time, Pete looked directly at Macau. The teenager didn't look like his usual self. He seemed stronger, or maybe he was trying to look that way.

"Vegas will be fine,"

Pete whispered, either to himself or to Macau.

"He has to. He wouldn't be brave enough to leave me alone in this world."

Then Macau went to sit on a bench in the corridor some distance away from him. The teenager is still trying to establish boundaries with him. Of course, Pete is still a stranger who doesn't immediately deserve to be included in the circle that Macau has.

Therefore, Pete just let it be. He sat back while occasionally glancing at Macau, who looked up and rubbed his face with both hands.

Pete himself was tired of that gesture. A gesture he had done dozens of times in his solitude a few hours earlier.

Now he was back in his own tangle. Ignore the surroundings, again. Leave Macau with a mind of its own. After all, the teenager was accompanied by two bodyguards who looked qualified.

Glancing at the door that was still firmly shut, Pete hoped that Vegas inside knew. There are two people with overflowing love, waiting for Vegas. That there was still a reason for him to persist.

Vegas, hurry back. I don't know what to do with your brother.
