Work Text:
“Our first order of business is to escape this teenage purgatory.”
“Of course I have a plan.”
“And it begins now.”
Wednesday is interrupted by the sound of the door opening. She throws Thing into her drawer and shuts it.
Enid. Wednesday hates Enid. Enid is so friendly and cheerful. Enid wasn’t scared of Wednesday unlike everybody else, that’s one thing that annoyed her. Every time Enid’s around, Wednesday gets a weird feeling in her stomach that she can’t quite describe, she’s never felt this before. Enid being her roommate means she gets the feeling often. She hates this feeling. She hates how Enid makes her feel. She hates her.
The dark-haired girl stood and turned, the blonde was standing in front of her with that stupid smile. Enid seemed so happy and excited already, she was practically jumping and neither of them had even said a word to each other. Why is she always so happy?
Wednesday can’t stand this. “What is up with you?”
“Sorry! I just wanted to ask you something.”
“Spit it out.” Wednesday glared at the taller girl. Enid started to look down at her hands and fiddled with her fingers.
“I… I wanted to ask you if you wanna hang out today! We could spend time around Nevermore! I could show you around everywhere-“
“You already gave me a tour when I first arrived.” Wednesday hates this. She does not want to hang out with her. At least when they’re roommates they can give each other some space but spending a whole day with Enid? Constantly being by her side? Wednesday would rather choke.
“I know I know! I gave you a tour already but that was just showing you where everything is and who people are, I haven’t had some actual fun with you around Nevermore! Plus, this would be a great way for us to get closer! Please!” Enid was already giving Wednesday the puppy eyes. God, she’s frustrating.
“No.”
“Please! We can do a lot of fun things.” Enid stepped closer and grabbed the shorter girl’s hands, holding them closely to her chest. A slight blush appeared on Wednesday’s face.
“You and I have very different definitions of fun.” Wednesday is now just looking for absolutely any excuse to not go. She’s not even entirely sure on the reason why she doesn’t wanna go. Spending a day with Enid could be nice. Wednesday would never even admit that to herself, she just needs to get rid of whatever these disgusting feelings are and spending time with Enid would not help at all.
Enid started begging, repeatedly saying please. Wednesday just kept responding with no. This could go on for hours, Enid’s not the type of girl who gives up. This is one of the things that Wednesday loves hates about her.
The blonde finally stopped pleading. “Okay here, how about this! I want you to hang out with me, right? I’m telling you that we’re gonna do so much fun stuff. How about, today you hang out with me, just once today, and you decide whether or not you have fun. If you don’t have fun, we don’t have to hang out together again. Please, just give me a chance at this, Wednesday!”
Wednesday thinks about this for a second.
“Fine. One day wouldn’t hurt too much, I suppose.” The shorter girl finally agrees. Enid releases a sigh of relief that immediately turns into her giggling.
Enid starts smiling bigger than Wednesday’s ever seen, the cotton-candy haired girl pulled Wednesday closer and in for a hug. Enid’s very affectionate and clingy. Wednesday hates affection but, she doesn’t know if she hates Enid’s touchiness, she’s definitely telling herself that.
Enid lets go and walks off to the door. “Alright! Go get a jacket or something and we’ll be off! I already know where to go first.”
The girl was so excited.
Wednesday was not excited, she just needed to get this over with. Wednesday grabbed her black cardigan and walked out the door.
...
Nearly an hour had gone by and Wednesday was barely having any fun. Enid noticed this, she was afraid Wednesday wasn’t gonna enjoy any part of this day at all. That’s the last thing she wanted for this day.
Enid walked with Wednesday in the halls, they stopped walking when they saw the wall regarding the Alumni of Nevermore Academy.
Ignatius Itt.
Edgar Allen Poe.
Morticia Addams.
Enid had just registered this in her head. “Addams… Wait, Wednesday is she your-“
“My mother. My father and my mother went to Nevermore Academy together, they said it’s where they fell in love. They figured I’d enjoy it here as much as they did.”
“I mean, are you having fun so far?” Enid grinned hoping for a yes.
“Barely.” The blonde frowned. “Another irritating thing is that my parents never stop talking about how they fell in love here and they're hoping I fall in love with someone here in Nevermore, the way they fell in love with each other. It’s stupid.”
Wednesday, still facing the portrait of her mother. While the taller girl stares at the shorter girl so lovingly. A soft stare. A soft smile. A short silence.
“Do you think you will actually fall in love with someone here?”
Wednesday stared back at her. It felt like she was about to have a heart attack. She needed to act calm.
“I doubt.” A lie. “But, who knows. People often say to expect the unexpected.”
The two girls stared at each other in silence, but not in an awkward way. They feel comfortable. Wednesday could stare at Enid’s stupid smile all day.
The silence was broken by a small giggle coming from the cotton-candy haired girl. She grabbed Wednesday’s hand and dragged her away. “Come on, I know where we should go.”
Usually, Wednesday would try to pull away but, maybe just for today she’ll let it continue.
Enid had pulled Wednesday into the library.
“I figured maybe you’d like to spend some time here! You haven’t been having a lot of fun today so I hope this will make you at least a little bit happy!” Enid was really hoping for this to work.
“The quietness of a library is quite calming. And I could read or get inspiration to write here.”
“Sooo?” Enid, still holding Wednesday’s hand, pulled their hands up.
“I suppose that this isn’t so bad.” Wednesday had finally had a little bit of fun from this day. Enid let out a quiet ‘Yay!’ as she smiled. Wednesday had a small smile on her face, something about Enid being so happy that she made Wednesday a little happy, Wednesday can’t help but appreciate it. Though, the smile immediately turns back into her neutral expression when Enid looks back at her.
Wednesday pulls Enid to the back of the library. Enid sits down on the bean bag by a table.
“You’re not gonna read anything?”
“I’m good! I’ll just sit here, not exactly the biggest fan of reading unless it’s something I’m super interested in so I’ll just sit and rest a bit.” Enid looked like she was about to fall asleep on that bean bag already.
“Fine, you stay here, I’m just gonna look around to see if there’s anything I could read.”
Enid responds with a nod then lays her head back on the bean bag.
…
A few minutes pass and Wednesday returns then sits on the chair next to Enid.
Enid gets up to see what book Wednesday decided to read. “So, what’d you find?”
“This book titled ‘Werewolves’. Seems interesting enough, the title seemed extremely lazy but I’ll give it a shot.”
Enid immediately lit up. “Hey! Werewolves! I’m a werewolf!”
“I know, I figured it’d be nice to learn more about werewolves, they did always catch my eye.” Wednesday gave Enid a soft smirk. Enid looks at her in complete adoration. She gets up and grabs a chair to sit next to Wednesday. Wednesday opened the book and Enid rested her head on Wednesday’s shoulder. Surprisingly, she didn’t push her away.
The two have seemed to already be more comfortable with each other. Wednesday thought she would hate this, but something about it isn’t so terrible.
As Wednesday read, Enid would suddenly start talking, pointing out a fact stated in the book about werewolves. Enid would sometimes end up rambling but Wednesday would just listen, she finds it interesting. They were both having a good time.
Enid checked her phone for the time. 6:27 PM. She got off of Wednesday’s shoulder and stood. Wednesday put her book down and looked up at her.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, It’s just that I wanna do another thing with you. I’m sure you’ll love this!” Enid grabbed Wednesday’s hand to hold. Waiting for her to say yes.
“Oh, fine. What is it?”
Enid quickly pulled Wednesday up and ran out the library with her. She seemed to be really excited for this one.
She dragged Wednesday out to front of the entrance of Nevermore, she pulled her down to hide behind a tree.
“Enid, what are we doing?”
“Well, usually some of our normie neighbors like to walk past Nevermore, most of them give the academy a judgemental look. They think they’re better than us just because we’re outcasts and you know, sometimes we Nevermore students enjoy giving them a little scare!”
Wednesday was in slight shock. She didn’t take Enid for a scarer. She hadn’t said a word.
Enid started getting a bit worried. “Okay, I know it’s a little rude but-”
“I’m in. Scaring people is an enjoyable activity, scare them hard enough and you’ll give them a heart attack.” Wednesday was more than willing to participate in this.
Enid let out a sigh of relief. “You scared me for a bit there! I thought you thought I was weird for this or something.”
“I was just a bit surprised, I didn’t take you for someone who would scare another for fun.”
“Well, I can be a bit of a surprise! But yeah, I don’t enjoy scaring people. But this is an exception, these people are always so rude to us.” Enid moved closer to Wednesday as she giggled.
“So, how exactly are you planning to scare them? There are many ways to do this, though if you wanna make sure the result ends with a heart attack then-”
“No! No, no. I do not want to give anyone a heart attack! I just wanna scare them a bit. And don’t worry, I have a plan.”
Wednesday sighed at this. “Causing heart attacks is a fun activity but fine. What is it?”
“These people usually like to walk pass right? I’ll jump out of the tree using one of my forms!”
Wednesday was slightly confused about this. What did she mean by forms?
“Forms?”
“Remember? Werewolves have 5 forms!”
“Are you allowed to transform into a werewolf right now?”
“Well, not into the full-werewolf but I can just shift into the wolf form! Not too dangerous but enough to scare them.”
The girls stopped talking when they heard footsteps and chatter nearby.
“Isn’t this that creepy school, Nevermore Academy?”
“Yeah, every time I pass it I just wanna run off. This school is so creepy and the students are even weirder.”
Wednesday was too focused on listening to the voices of these two girls walking by to realize Enid had already transformed. When she looked beside her to see a wolf, she nearly jumped but not from fear, from shock.
“Isn’t this school filled with like, vampires, werewolves and all that scary stuff?”
“Exactly, everyone here is creepy and weird. I hate that we have to meet with them every year-”
Before another word was spoken, Enid jumped on both girls. The two screamed as a wolf was growling at them, Enid seemed as if she was about to eat them. After a few seconds, Enid let them go and the girls escaped then ran off crying. The wolf then turned back into a human.
Wednesday had been staring from behind the tree this entire time. She couldn’t lie to herself, she was mesmerized by this. Amazed, really.
Enid walked back up to Wednesday, basically jumping. “That was so fun! Did you see the look on their faces? Absolutely terrified.”
“I can’t lie, it was fun to watch. I’ve also never seen any of your wolf forms until now.”
“Was it fun to see it?”
Wednesday gave Enid a very small but noticeable smile. “It was.”
They were both having so much fun, Enid pulled Wednesday in for a hug, again.
“Do more people ever walk by?”
“Of course!”
“Great. ‘Cause I’d enjoy scaring some more people myself.” The two looked at each other and smirked, they were already planning many ways to scare people.
An hour passes by scaring people. A couple of laughs here and there, even a small laugh from Wednesday. They both seem tired out from this.
The girls sat down on the ground with their backs against a tree. “That was fun, wasn’t it, Wednesday?”
“I guess it was.” Wednesday had been enjoying her time with Enid. At the start of the day it was uninteresting to her, now all she wants to do is continue to hang out with Enid.
Enid checked her phone again for the time.
7:38 PM. It was getting dark.
But Enid wasn’t done just yet. “Come on, I have one more thing we can do.” Enid stood up and reached out her hand. Wednesday held on to it as she got up.
“You aren’t tired?”
“A little bit, but what we’re doing doesn’t need a lot of energy, this is gonna be quick!” Enid once again, dragged Wednesday around. She took Wednesday to get slushies near Nevermore.
Enid got a bright red cherry flavored slushie.
Wednesday got a black-cherry flavored slushie.
Even their slushies looked the opposite of each other.
After getting slushies, Enid took Wednesday back to their room. Wednesday thought the day was over but Enid opened their spider-web window and continued to pull her to the balcony. Enid let go of Wednesday’s hand and hopped onto the balcony’s stone railing and sat there.
Wednesday stood behind her. “You know, the chances of you falling off this balcony are high when you’re sitting on its railing.”
Enid looked back at her. “I’ve done this before, I’ll be okay. Come here, sit with me.”
Wednesday hesitated for a second but might as well. She tried her best to get on the railing, though she struggled a bit. She sat down next to Enid. Enid stared up at the sky as Wednesday stared at Enid. A comfortable silence. Nothing but the sound of the night breeze. Wednesday could stare at Enid for hours. She’s really pretty.
“Thank you.” Wednesday broke their silence. Enid turned to look at her.
“I hate to say this, but I did end up having a nice day. And I thank you for that.”
Enid smiled at her. She was glad that the day ended up going great. “You’re welcome. I had an amazing time with you, Wednesday.”
“Me too.”
“...Does this mean you had fun? Which means, we can still do this again in the future?” The blonde got closer to Wednesday from excitement. The black-haired girl gave her a stare then rolled her eyes.
“Fine.”
Enid instantly hugged her while placing her head at Wednesday’s neck.
“Careful. You could accidentally pull us both down and off this balcony.” She was right but that didn’t stop Enid. She continued to stay that way for a couple minutes. Her arms wrapped around Wednesday’s waist as she rested her head on Wednesday’s shoulder. The girls had gotten much closer just from one day, just earlier this morning, Wednesday would hate this. But she doesn’t. There’s something different about Enid that’s just so alluring.
Minutes passed and Enid was nearly about to fall asleep on Wednesday’s shoulder. “Enid.”
“Yeah?”
“Perhaps it’s better we go to bed now, it’s getting late and you’re clearly tired. I don’t wanna stay like this the entire night.” Wednesday shrugged Enid off her shoulder.
“Okay.” Enid turned around and hopped back onto the balcony, she held out her hand for Wednesday to hold on to as she got off the railing. She walked towards the window-door then took her shoes off and placed them next to her bed with Wednesday doing the same. “Are you going to bed now too?” She turned around at Wednesday, who was standing by her.
Wednesday walked up to her table. “Yeah, spending a whole day with you can be exhausting if you didn’t know. I just have to do something first.”
Enid giggles. Wednesday has an interesting sense of humor, even if it’s not actually humor. She knows Wednesday doesn’t mean it. “What is it?”
Wednesday opened her drawer to release Thing. “Seems you were barely able to last a whole day in the drawer. Good thing you chose to pledge your undying loyalty to me.”
Enid froze. “Wednesday, what is that?”
“Oh, right. This is my disembodied hand pet. He’s actually a hand-servant for my family but considering his stupidity, he’s mostly just a pet. His name is Thing.” Wednesday grabs Thing and presents him to Enid.
“That's kind of cool! He looks interesting. How come I didn’t see him when you first arrived here?” Enid stepped closer to get a better look at Thing.
“My parents sent Thing to spy on me today. They thought I wouldn’t find out, they underestimated me and my skills. But now, Thing is staying with me. Good choice considering his only other option was for me to lock him in my drawer for the rest of the semester.” She turned around to put Thing back on her table then got into bed. Enid walked back to her side of the room and did the same.
They shut the lights off and get into their beds. “Goodnight, Wednesday.”
“Night.”
…
Wednesday ended up waking up in the middle of the night, she decided to sit at her table for awhile. It felt like Thing was somehow glaring at her.
“What is it now, Thing?”
Thing proceeded to make hand gestures. He was talking about telling Enid that Wednesday wants to leave Nevermore.
“She doesn’t need to know. I refuse to think about that right now.”
Thing was practically getting mad at Wednesday.
“I know it might make her upset, but she doesn’t have to find out.” She gets up from her table and back to her bed. She doesn’t wanna spend another second having this conversation with Thing.
A few days had gone by and the girls did manage to get closer from that day. Enid likes to stare at Wednesday during their classes often. Maybe it’s a little weird but she can’t take her eyes off Wednesday. Wednesday has been talking to Enid more. Enid’s super happy about this, what she wanted was to get closer with Wednesday and she did that. Wednesday was glad about it too. But it wasn’t all they wanted.
Wednesday told Enid she’d be at the library for awhile, Enid stayed back at their room. She was bored out of her mind and was listening to music 90% of the time. She had just realized Thing was in the room with her when he tapped on Enid’s shoulder. Enid jumped and took her earphones off.
“God! Thing! You can’t just suddenly appear out of nowhere like that! You scared the living crap out of me!”
Thing was making gestures, pointing to Wednesday’s table. Telling Enid to go there.
Enid got off her bed and walked up to Wednesday’s table with Thing following behind her. “Okay, what now? Should I really be doing this? I don’t think Wednesday would be happy with the fact that I was snooping.”
Thing jumped onto the table and opened the drawer for her. He pointed towards the piece of paper with a drawing. It was a drawing of the gate of Nevermore Academy. She was confused about what this meant.
“Okay, it’s a drawing of Nevermore’s gate. I don’t get what you’re trying to show me here.”
Thing tried his best to explain to Enid that Wednesday is planning on escaping to leave Nevermore Academy. Enid understood enough of it. This new information made her feel devastated. Is it me? Did I do something wrong? All I wanted was for her to feel happy here. Enid started worrying so much 'til she could feel tears forming, she couldn’t tell if she was more upset or sad. She just started sobbing and waited for Wednesday to come back to their room.
An hour passed, Enid was on the floor with her knees against her chest, no longer crying but she was still sniffling. Still so upset. She quickly got up when she heard the door open as Wednesday finally came back from the library. Enid still had the piece of paper in her hand.
Wednesday looked down to put her bag on the floor. “Enid, I’m back.” She turned to see Enid who was just standing there, Wednesday could see from her face that Enid had been crying. She was confused, she looked at Enid’s hand to see a piece of paper to which she can see parts of the drawing to see that it’s hers. Thing was on Enid’s shoulder. Wednesday knew what this was about and in her head she started to panic. Thing jumped off Enid’s shoulder onto Wednesday’s.
“Enid-”
“You wanna leave?” Wednesday can hear the sadness and anger in Enid’s voice. It’s sickening to hear.
Wednesday stayed silent.
“I get that maybe you don’t enjoy it here or that maybe I can be a little much but you leaving was the last thing I was trying to get you to do. I just wanted you to stay here with me.” Her voice was cracking. Despite Wednesday enjoying seeing people miserable, even Wednesday hates the situation she's in.
“Listen to me.” Wednesday slowly walked up to Enid, but Enid backed away.
Enid was trying not to yell, she had tears streaming down her face again but the look on her face showed anger.
“No! Honestly, what do you have to say? You wanna leave right? You don’t like the school nor do you like the people here.”
She sighed.
“You don’t like me.” Enid started to look down when she said this. Her voice cracked when she said 'like'. Wednesday was confused by what she meant. Why did Enid emphasize on that and Wednesday couldn’t understand why it was so important to Enid for Wednesday to like her.
Wednesday was standing in front of Enid in silence. Enid wasn’t saying another word. All you can hear is the sniffling from Enid’s crying. An uncomfortable silence. Wednesday hated seeing Enid like this. For the first time in her life, she hated seeing another person miserable.
Enid dropped the paper on the ground and put on her shoes. She ran off to the door.
“Enid, where are you going?”
“Anywhere where you aren’t.” Enid slammed the door as she left.
Wednesday groaned loudly as she sat on her bed. Fuck. She felt horrible. She’s never hurt someone like this before, she didn’t think it would make her feel terrible. She loves seeing people miserable. Why does she hate this? She’s scared to realize why Enid being upset at her matters so much to herself. How did she manage to screw this up?
She glared at the shivering hand who had jumped on the bed.
“I could’ve handled this myself, Thing.”
“I thought you were gonna start being loyal to me. This isn’t an act of being loyal.”
Wednesday picked Thing up. “I do hope you understand what I’m about to do is reasonable.”
She threw Thing at the wall. He then tried to run away but Wednesday caught him once again. She threw him into the drawer. “Now, you’re gonna be here for a longer time. I just need to think.”
Wednesday paced around the room. She knew what she needed to do but she was just hesitating. She needed to talk to Enid. All she needs is for Enid to listen to her. She leaves their room to look for Enid, hoping she isn’t far.
...
Enid was in the library, sitting at the far back. The place where Enid and Wednesday sat together. She hated absolutely everything about what happened. Finding out Wednesday wants to leave Nevermore was definitely not the best experience. Enid was just starting to think she maybe had a chance, she loved Wednesday. Not loved, loves. Even after this, she still loves her. All Enid wanted was to be with Wednesday, she feels stupid now that she knows Wednesday just wants to escape. Enid doesn’t matter to Wednesday, that’s what she thinks.
She thought staying in the library would bring her some sense of comfort but she just feels like breaking down again. This won’t help. She needed to go somewhere that would calm her down. She knew where to go. She immediately got up and walked out the library.
Just as she walked out, Wednesday was walking in. They didn’t notice they had just passed by each other. Wednesday figured Enid would go to the library to clear her mind, she was only half right on this. She looked around to see if she could find the girl with cotton-candy hair but she couldn’t see her anywhere.
She saw Yoko going through the bookshelves, maybe she knows where Enid is.
Wednesday tapped Yoko’s shoulder. “Yoko. Have you-”
Yoko cut her off before she could finish her question. “No, your little girlfriend isn’t here. Well, she was here not too long ago. She already left. In fact, I think she left while you came in. Surprised you didn’t notice each other.”
“She’s not my girlfriend.”
“Are you sure?”
Wednesday sighed and rolled her eyes. That was a waste of her time, what matters is finding Enid. How did Wednesday not see her? She’s so easy to spot. Now she just feels stupid.
“Do you know where she is now?”
“Nope. She left in a hurry though. Maybe she went back to your room.”
Wednesday left the library right away. Yoko could be right about Enid being back at their room. Might as well check.
Wednesday opened the door and looked around for Enid. No sign of her. She kept calling out her name but getting no response each time. She walks out to the balcony hoping to see Enid sitting there. Still no Enid. It was already getting really late, she was starting to get worried. What if she ran off? What if she’s gone? What if I drove her away? Wednesday groaned loudly, she was so worried about Enid, she hated this.
“Wednesday?” A voice can be heard coming from the roof. Wednesday turns around to see Enid sitting on their roof. She was relieved.
“Enid. I’ve been looking for you-”
“Forget it, just leave me alone, Wednesday.” Enid turned to the other side, refusing to look down at Wednesday.
“This is our room and our roof. I could go up there right now.”
No response.
Wednesday started getting up on the walls and climbing the statues. The roof wasn’t flat, the chances of her falling down to her death were high. She had to be careful. After a minute of climbing and getting up on the roof, she carefully sat in front of Enid who still refused to look at Wednesday. Enid had her knees to her chest, Wednesday could see her eyes were tired.
Wednesday was still hesitating. “What is it with you and high places? Or places where you could easily fall off of.”
“It’s comforting to me. The views are calming to look at.” She’s still refusing to make eye contact.
“Enid. I’m… sorry. I don’t ever say that to anyone. But about me wanting to escape, I can explain that. And I need you to listen to me.”
Enid sighed. Wednesday was tired but here goes nothing.
“That was before I spent that day with you. It was right before you barged into our room and asked to go out. I hated you then. You were loud, cheerful and annoying. I refused to get to know you more. All I knew was that I hated Nevermore and wanted to leave. Then you made me go out with you, I spent a whole day with you. I can’t be dishonest and say I didn’t enjoy it. You knew what would be considered fun to me and I thank you for that. Enid, I didn’t completely hate you for being annoying. I hated you because I hated how you made me feel. You made me feel disgusting and awful things that I’m not used to feeling because I’ve never felt it. It’s new and I hate it. I always felt weird around you, I got a feeling in my stomach that was just horrific. I think I know what this is now, but I just never wanted to admit it to myself. Those terrible feelings were one of the reasons why I wanted to leave, it made me feel weak and it wouldn’t go away. After spending time with you, I still had these feelings but something felt different.”
Enid was still staying quiet, looking to her left. Wednesday can’t let this go on.
“Enid, look at me.” Wednesday touched her chin with a finger making the girl turn her head.
“I still want to leave Nevermore. But I don’t want to leave you.”
Enid’s eyes lit up. Her legs go down hanging on both sides. She was slowly moving closer to Wednesday.
Wednesday looked down. She was about to say something that she’d never thought she’d say to anyone.
“Enid. I-”
Enid took Wednesday by surprise as she grabbed her cheeks and quickly pulled her in for a kiss. Enid’s warm soft lips pressed against Wednesday’s. Wednesday nearly froze before she gently put her hands on the other girl’s neck. It felt exhilarating. Her heart was beating rapidly, at this rate she might actually end up dying from a heart attack.
Enid pulled herself away from Wednesday’s lips but still stayed close to her. The two girls’ looking down with their noses touching. Their hands stayed in the same place.
“I love you too.”
The two girls were already bright red from their kiss. Wednesday didn’t say another word, she just closed her eyes and continued to stay close to her roommate. Soft smiles. A comfortable silence. They’re comfortable again.
“Are we alright now? Or are you still upset.” She felt embarrassed for asking this.
“Oh, we’re more than alright now. Don’t worry.” Both girls giggled at this. They were both still so flustered and tired, but all that mattered to them now was that they were together. This is what they wanted.
Wednesday pulled away from Enid. “We should go back to the room now. It’s extremely dark out and we’re still on a roof. One wrong move and we drop dead.”
And Wednesday’s ‘threatening’ comments are back. Enid laughed at this and agreed. They held hands as they carefully went down and back to their rooms. Both girls yawned from exhaustion, they both had a tiring day but at least it ended well. They had changed into their sweaters before going to bed.
Enid was ready to call it a night and go to sleep, Wednesday walked up to her and hesitantly gave her a soft kiss on her cheek. “Goodnight.” She walked back to her side of the room and got into her own bed.
Now Enid was the one in shock.
“...Night, Wednesday.”
She shut the lights and got into her bed. She had the biggest grin on her face and was quietly kicking her feet under the blanket. She stopped and finally rested her eyes. The two girls were finally asleep and relaxed, this is perfect.
