Summary:

CDisctober writing challenge day 2.

Prompt: Lights.

Tommy really wants to see the lights of the christmas tree in L'Manburg. Dream doesn't allow him to go, but is nice enough to bring a picture back.

Work Text:

Tommy was sitting next to the Christmas tree. He didn’t know how it got on his island. But he liked it. It made him a bit happier.
in the distance, he heard the portal. Dream soon joined him on the ground. “Hello, Tommy how are you doing today?”
Tommy sighed. “I am just so alone.” “But I am here now.” Dream said.
“Yeah.” Tommy said. “You probably want my stuff, right?”
Dream shook his head. “It’s almost Christmas, see it as a Christmas gift.”
Tommy nodded. “Thanks.”
“You know, I was in L’Manburg to talk to Tubbo. And they have this beautiful Christmas tree and the even have floating lanterns. It was very beautiful.” Dream said.
“I want to see.” Tommy said.
“But you can’t. You are not allowed there.” Dream said.
“Please, just one day. No, an hour would be okay.”
Dream stood up. “We are done Tommy; you can’t go there. You know that. Now let’s do something else okay.”
Tommy sighed and stood up.
“I was thinking of making a new storage place.” “Alright Tom, let’s build it.”

Several hours later and the storage was almost completed. The sun was going down.
“Tom, I have to go now. I will make pictures of the tree in L’Manburg and show it to you tomorrow, okay?” Dream said.
“Alright. Thanks Dream.” Tommy said.
“No problem. Here have some bread to eat. I will be back tomorrow.” Dream said, as he handed Tommy the bread before stepping through the portal.
Tommy sighed and walked back to his tent, slowly chewing on a piece of the bread.
“There is no way he is gonna bring a picture back. He doesn’t want me to be happy. So why would he. If he really cared he would have let me go to L’Manburg to see it.”
Eventually Tommy fell asleep, shivering from the cold that seeped into his tent.

Late at night Dream snuck towards L’Manburg. If people saw him around L’Manburg taking pictures of the Christmas tree, they would ask why, and he would have to think of a lie again.
He quickly took a few pictures with his communicator, before quickly leaving.
Next morning, he would bring the pictures to Tommy. The child deserved a little bit of a happy Christmas.

Tommy woke up to the sound of the portal activating. Dream was here. Great.
“Oh Tommy, I brought you something. You want to see it?” Dream said.
With a huff Tommy stood up from the floor, he must have fallen of the bed in the night and walked out the tent towards Dream.
“What is it?”
“The pictures of the Christmas tree. Can you see how beautiful the little lights are in the tree. So much better than the lights here.” Dream said.
Tommy stared at the picture. That was his home. One day he would be back there.
“It looks beautiful. Thank you Dream.”
“No problem, Tommy.”
