Work Text:
She was so nervous. Her whole life could end here. Not really, but if it failed, it would be the same. And Amity was late, why was she late? She was never late before! Maybe she didn’t want to be here. After all, who would want to be with her, here, in the middle of nowhere? This was such a stupid idea, Luz knew it.
“Oh Titan, Luz, I’m so sorry!” Amity panted.
Amity was just late, for the first time of her life.
“There was this...” She tried to catch her breath. “...stupid guy...” Again. “...he tried to...” And again. “...set him on fire...” And again.
Luz wasn’t quite listening to the things she was trying to say, because of a simple thought. Amity was beautiful. They were dating for ten years now but it was always the same. Amity was a cotton-candy haired goddess, and Luz’s heart melt every time she saw her. She was in awe, in front of her girlfriend, all sweaty and panting.
“I tried to do something with my hair, but it’s ruined now.” Amity grunted as she ran a hand through her hair.
“You’re beautiful.” Luz whispered as only answer.
She could nothing but melt at her view, even though she wasn’t at her best. For Luz it was enough. Her perfect, beautiful, amazing girlfriend was everything for her.
Amity blushed, just like a stupid teenager, which she wasn’t anymore. She was a grown ass woman, for Titan’s sake! But she couldn’t help it, every time she was in front of her lovely girlfriend, she was nothing, but a puddle filled with love. Maybe today was the day... She was supposed to be here earlier, before Luz. It’s like the universe tried to slow her down. Work was exhausting, people were annoying and all she wanted was to go home to her girlfriend, just like every day. But not tonight. Tonight, they both planned something different. A nice and cosy (and very cheesy) date on the top of a hill, below the Grom Tree, with a view over the Titan’s skeleton, during the golden hour. A beautiful and enchanting place, but not as beautiful as Amity’s girlfriend. Everything was perfect. Maybe today was the day.
The two girls shared a kiss, Luz and Amity’s favourite moment of the day, and sat on the tablecloth. The grass underneath was soft, just like a fluffy mattress. Luz opened the picnic bag, filled with human food. Amity liked the human sandwiches, they tasted like old memories and dreams, especially with Luz. They told their day to each other, their pain, their joy, how much they missed each other.
Luz loved those simple moments in the day, she wanted it to last forever, a life with Amity. Sure, they had a flat together, in the centre of Latissa, but she wanted more.
And so did Amity. Life with Luz was a dream, a beautiful journey, she wanted the human to be part of her life, and vice versa.
“Ames?”
They were now lying on the tablecloth, holding hands, looking at the sky slowly losing its colours and turning to the swirly purple of the night. After eating, they kept talking and kissed several times before a comfortable set in between them.
“Yes, mi amor?”
“You know it’s hot when you’re talking Spanish?”
“I know~” Amity purred.
“I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
They lost themselves in a deep kiss, underneath the lovely starry sky. If only this could last forever... But they needed to breathe and eventually pulled apart.
“I wanted to say...” Luz continued. “...before you went all Spanish.”
Amity giggled.
“Amity...”
“Yes?”
“You’re the love of my life, the sun of my days and the moon of my nights. Every day with you is just a beautiful dream that keep going on. And I don’t want it to end. Because I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Amity suddenly lost the ability to speak. Sure, Luz was cheesy, and she loved to say the most beautiful words to her girlfriend. But this time, it was different. Maybe because Luz was trembling.
The human got back in a sitting position, the eyes still locked on her beautiful and amazing girlfriend.
“Amity Blight... Those last ten years with you were the most beautiful years of my life, and that’s thanks to you. Well, to Eda, Willow, Gus, mom and Vee too...”
Amity rolled her eyes with a smile; she was trying so hard to not cry.
“But you’re the one making my heart fluster and my mind blow.”
“Luz...” Amity whispered.
She watched her girlfriend take a deep breath as she tried to calm her shaking hands.
“Okay... If I wanted us to be here it’s not just because I love spending time with you, even though I really do. Everything started here, against the Grom monster, and you know I'm a sucker for cheesy romance and doing this here, where our story started is a nice call-back.”
“Geez, you’re such a nerd.” Amity lovingly chuckled.
“Yes and?”
“I love you.”
“That’s the point. I love you too. And I want to spend the rest of my life by your side, because this is where I belong.”
Amity wanted to kiss her so bad. She sat in front of Luz and chewed on her lip, waiting for the opportune moment.
“Amity Blight...”
Luz took several deep breaths. She had planned this moment for weeks but now she had a huge stage-fright.
“Will you marry me?” Amity blurted out, before Luz could say anything, taking a cute silver ring out of her pocket.
“Noooooooo! I was so ready!” Luz whined, as she melted from the inside.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, you can say it.”
“Okay... Amity Blight...” She took out the exact same ring out of her pocket. “Will you marry me?”
“YES!” Amity exulted as she jumped on Luz to kiss her.
It was the most passionate, enjoyable, magical kiss of all time, and the one after wasn’t less of it, not to mention the ten others before they decided to finally exchange the rings.
“Luz Noceda... I love you so much and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.” The love of Luz’s life whispered.
“Amity Blight, this would just be my dream come true.” The love of Amity’s life replied.
They kissed once more, sealing their destiny together as fiancée and future wives.
