Work Text:
“Hey, Tighnari.”
“This is the last report I have to go through, Cyno, I swear. I’ll play Genius Invokation TCG with you in a bit,” Tighnari grabbed another slip of parchment from his desk, studying it attentively. Cyno sighed. When it came to work in the forest, Tighnari could be even more serious than he was sometimes.
“It’s not about the card game,” Cyno muttered, his gaze fixated on the fluffy ears atop Tighnari’s head. They twitched cutely as his brows furrowed in concentration, and Cyno could barely resist the urge to reach up and pet them. While Tighnari had never been particularly against it, the last thing Cyno wanted to do was to accidentally hurt Tighnari.
He couldn’t bear to see any harm come to those adorably soft fox-like ears.
His tail flicking around, Tighnari stood up and his ears tilted forward, the twitching lessening now that he was no longer engrossed in the report. He sat down directly opposite Cyno, those fluffy ears perking up once more. Cyno was practically drooling with every twitch of his cute furry ears, every blink of his large shimmering eyes and every—
“Cyno? Cyno?”
Cyno shook himself back to reality, glancing down at the cards he had brought. Suddenly, his favorite card game didn’t seem so fun anymore. Fiddling around with one of the cards, he accidentally flicked it across the room. It flew in a perfect curve and hit the wall with a soft thud.
Tighnari watched him curiously as his face burned, fumbling to say something. Anything. But the words died in his throat as Cyno spared another glance at Tighnari’s ears. They looked way fluffier than any regular cat’s or dog’s, and were still twitching cutely. The fox-like ears suddenly flattened against Tighnari’s silky hair as he asked, “Are you sure you don’t want to pet them? You stare at them a lot.”
Cyno let out a deflated sigh, mumbling, “I don’t want to hurt you.”
“I’m not so fragile,” Tighnari huffed, shifting and making himself comfortable beside Cyno. “Don’t worry, it’s okay to be curious. I’ll tell you if it hurts.”
Hesitantly, Cyno brushed a finger on one of his ears. It was as furry as a bunny, soft as a pillow and warm as the hearth on a winter’s night. Once he had started, Cyno couldn’t stop petting them. The feeling was amazing, and Cyno’s euphoria increased as he gently stroked the back of them, alternating between the two fluffy little things, which were as fluffy as cotton candy. He slowly scratched the base of Tighnari’s ears, trying different spots and soothing the fur. Cyno glanced at Tighnari’s face to watch his reaction.
“They’re fluffy.”
Tighnari was cutely fighting back a smile as his face reddened ever so slightly, seemingly embarrassed by how much he was enjoying this. How much he loved Cyno’s hands petting his ears, one of the most sensitive parts of him. His tail twitched involuntarily as Cyno increased his pace, almost as though he was wagging it. A stupid grin was plastered onto his face, and Cyno’s heart leapt at how cute that was.
His adorable ears twitched again, and his cheeks were dusted with an adorable shade of pink as he fiddled with his hands. Tighnari’s ears really was fluffy. His poor description didn’t do them justice at all. The fox-like ears seemed to droop in relaxation as Cyno continued, happy to continue petting the soft fur for all of eternity.
Tighnari let out a contented sigh, leaning into Cyno’s touch. His face looked adorable with a flush and a small smile that only seemed to grow larger. Cyno smiled fondly at the foxboy, euphoric that he was relaxing under his touch. Instead of being stiffened, his furry ears were softer and free from tension and anxiety. He looked down at the swishing tail and suddenly grabbed it, brushing it with languid strokes. Tighnari gasped, drawing his knees together to hide his face. He slowly relaxed as Cyno stroked his fur tenderly, soothing him as though he was a treasured pet.
“Tighnari? Are you alright?”
“Yes, yes… continue,” the forest watcher mumbled, his fluffy ears twitching involuntarily, almost as though they were begging for attention. Cyno couldn’t help but notice how incredibly reactive the furry parts of Tighnari were. Brushing his fingers along the soft fur, Cyno made Tighnari’s ears flatten once more, and tried—keyword tried—to get his swishing tail to stay still.
It was probably a sign of ecstasy, Cyno thought. He smiled and let it be as he brushed the tail’s base, taking great care to ensure he didn’t hurt him. As the soft fur parted under his fingers, Cyno realized that this was probably even more enjoyable for Tighnari than it was for him, especially given how sensitive his ears and tail were. So Tighnari loves this. A loving smile crept up his face involuntarily as he scratched behind Tighnari’s ears, earning him another happy sigh.
Cyno noticed Tighnari’s eyelids begin to droop and blinked. It was almost noon, and Tighnari never took spontaneous naps. He petted Tighnari’s furry ears again, with a gentleness he never knew he possessed, brushing his fur as though he was a priceless pet. To Cyno, he was the most precious thing in the rainforest, Sumeru, and all of Teyvat. The cute foxboy’s eyes finally closed, and his expression gradually smoothened out. He looked so innocent, so ethereal, so adorable as his head relaxed against Cyno’s arms. He looked perfect.
Petting his head with a light chuckle, Cyno couldn’t believe Tighnari’s actually fell asleep. It was a well-deserved rest; he had been working hard the past few weeks. Tighnari’s ears twitched, and Cyno’s heart nearly died of cuteness. He petted his head a few more times, then picked him up and gently placed him on his bed. Grinning like a lovesick teenager, Cyno ducked his head out of the hut, leaving Tighnari to adorably sleep in peace.
“Tighnari, wake up. Hey, Nari! Nari~”
“…Cyno?”
A chuckle came from the side of the bed, and Tighnari shot up, rubbing his eyes sleepily. His bleary eyes blinked as he adjusted to the afternoon light.
“You fell asleep while I was petting you,” Cyno said with a smug smile. “I didn’t know my hands felt so good.”
Tighnari ducked his head down as he blushed, a rare sight for those not particularly close to him. In Cyno’s opinion, it just made his pretty face even more adorable. “My ears are sensitive,” he muttered, avoiding Cyno’s gaze. His cheeks burned as he admitted, “But it feels extra good because it’s you.”
“I could tell. You’re adorable, Nari.” Cyno petted his ears tenderly, causing them to perk up instantly. Another adorable blush crossed his cheeks and he mumbled something inaudible. “What was that?”
“Pet me again.”
Cyno smiled and pulled Tighnari into his lap. With his drowsy look and curled up figure, he looked so much smaller than the great forest watcher he usually was. Cyno sank his slender fingers into his soft fur, and they both smiled. Tighnari closed his eyes, and Cyno couldn’t believe that he had such a beautiful angel in his lap, allowing him to pet his fluffy ears. He was too cute. His ears quivered a little, and his tail swished around the blankets. A cute little snore came from his mouth as he snuggled into Cyno’s arms.
Tighnari was just so adorable.
