Chapter Text

Despite the autumn season arriving what seemed an eternity ago the evening air was still balmy and humid. People still opted for lighter clothing. Windows were still open at night, and the streets were still as lively as ever. Though, that was always the case no matter the season.

It was late at night when you met. One of the few bars that stayed open past normal closing time was where you laid eyes on him for the first time. You’ll never forget that moment. He seemed to stand out despite being around a small crowd of people. He seemed to easily hold conversations giving each person a taste of his personality. He smiled and laughed amongst them. You thought you were being clever with your side glances towards him, but what you didn’t know was that he had staked a claim on you hours ago. Were you his next prey to him? Or were you simply just a toy to play with for the next few hours to amuse himself? He didn’t know for sure, but he did know he needed you.

Lestat (as he later introduced himself) separated himself from the growing group of people. He gave a polite excuse as to why he needed to part from such wonderful company, but the truth was that you looked entirely too alone sitting at a single table. His lips curled into a captivating smile as he told you his name and invited himself to sit with you. He talked to you about himself and his interests and asked you to join him at the next opera showing. Normally you would say no to a stranger being so bold with you, but something about him was different. Yes, it could have been the fact that you had been eyeing him earlier, but being in his presence was different. He was smooth with his words, and he made you feel at ease. His demeanor was calming, and his expressions were inviting. You couldn’t say no to anything while he was around… not that you really wanted to.

Lestat was a strange man you had come to learn. He was current with his dress and ideals, but sometimes he would let slip something that made him sound like he was old enough to be your grandfather. Still, you enjoyed his company. The nights were more fun with him by your side. Whether you spent your time together attending the opera or just staring at the stars that decorated the black sky, you felt comfortable with him. But, something deep in your core always told you that finding comfort in someone like him was a fate worse than death, but you couldn’t help but find yourself always with him in your arms. Your head would always tell you to leave, but you would still find your hands in his blond curls that shaped his beautiful face. He wasn’t right. He was a curse of some sort, and you knew it. But you’d still be with him in the still hours of the early morning when the sun hadn’t yet broken through the clouds. You’d be tangled with him in your bed listening to him sing softly just before he kissed you with such tenderness that made your heart absolutely ache. And every time he’d dismiss himself to go back to his residence you’d feel lost and unsure of everything. Despite any good reasoning your head ever had that Lestat was a man you shouldn’t be tangled up with, every part of your heart and body seemed to call after him even after you had spent hours with him just moments before.

“Don’t go yet”. You’d find yourself telling him. “I must for now. But I will see you again tonight.” He would tell you every time he left.

__

Lithe fingers danced across the keys of the small piano in Lestat’s abode. He finally agreed to you visiting him for once (after he insisted on “tidying up” first). While he played you listened. He played recognizable pieces from Mozart and Bach, and he even played things you didn’t recognize. You later learned they were original pieces. He was absolutely breathtaking. It was rather unfair how life had seemed to bless some more than others. Every time he would do even the simplest of things like speak or drink his wine, Lestat would look stunning. He was good with words (even having a good sense of humor). He was amicable with strangers. He had a good fashion sense (being rich helped in that area), and he was even musically inclined. How was this fair? Whenever you thought of the two of you together arm in arm, it never added up.

As you watched him in his ethereal state, your lips formed into a small frown.

“Lestat? Why are you with me?”

The man, never missing a note, simply chuckled in a way that also seemed musical in itself. “Because you invited yourself into my home”.

You sighed at his sass. It was never-ending. “You know what I mean. Why do you choose to spend every evening with me? I know there are thousands of others that enjoy your company as well.” After your question, you further settled into the lavish couch of his large apartment. You had hoped that you would get a straightforward answer from him for once.

“My darling, you’re so beautiful in this light. It’s moments like these when I am reminded of how easy it would be for me to drain you dry.”

With furrowed brows, you groaned and turned to face the couch away from Lestat. “What are you even talking about? That’s not an answer to my question. I’m not much better looking or more exciting than anyone else you’d find out there on the streets.”

The music ended from the piano and Lestat rose from the bench. If the music hadn’t ceased you would have never even known that he was now at your side.

“Do you remember that concert we went to two nights ago?” He spoke softly and placed a cool hand on your back. He always was cold to the touch, but you still found comfort in it. You nodded with your face buried against the back of the couch not really wanting him to see you yet. You honestly were afraid of his answer. “Do you also remember the couple that was standing outside after the performance? They were discussing how they didn’t like the music. They called it boring” You nodded again. “You were quite upset by that. You told me that only an idiot wouldn’t find it enjoyable.” Again you nodded and his hand crept up to your shoulder. He squeezed it gently then leaned into your ear to speak again but this time it was lower and more enticing. “You’re my concert, my darling. Just because someone doesn’t enjoy something doesn’t mean someone else will not.”

Your expression changed from annoyance to flustered at his words. You rolled over to meet his gaze, and your hands found his curls again for the millionth time that night. Unable to form much of a response you opted to gently pull him in for a kiss. It was tender, but longing. He always did this to you. He always found a way to make you come back to him even when you have doubts. It was rather annoying sometimes.

When his lips parted from yours he smiled softly and chuckled in that musical tone again. “You’re always so delicious. Did you know that?”

“Lestat, what did you mean earlier? About draining me dry? Is that a euphemism that you want to destroy your sheets again? I don’t think the last set has recovered yet.”

His chuckle turned into a laugh that made his entire mouth spread wide enough to show his teeth. They were always so pretty to you.

“Perhaps, my darling. My sheets don’t get much use anyways, so you’re always welcome to make an excuse for new ones.”

His teeth flashed again as he stood up and brought you with him. If it wasn’t for his deep gaze that always seemed to hypnotize you whenever you were with him, you would have sworn you had seen fangs.

Chapter 2: AUTHOR NOTES & UPDATES

Some updates:

Chapter Text

Hello friends,

I’ve definitely decided to continue this work. I’m just extremely slow at actually writing for fics LOL.

But, I know there’s been quite a few people that want to read more about reader and their escapades with Lestat. I’ve been mulling over some ideas, and I think I have an idea of how I want to tackle my next chapter/work. The next chapter will be shorter (maybe), but it’ll be content that everyone has been asking for. I know what y’all want. 😌

Anyways, I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven’t abandoned this by any means. You’re welcome to follow me on Twitter where I update what I’m doing occasionally and just to see me be cringe online in general. My@ is j00j00_bee !

Content should be uploaded soon, and I promise there will be teeth involved. 🖤🩸

Notes:

Hi, my brain worms are back, and I realized my writing is perfect for vampires.

Edit: this is all canon now bc i said so. I went to the publishers myself and we contacted the author. She said it was chill.
