Work Text:
After years of silently pining for each other, Draken and Emma are finally an item.
They're 16 and 17 now, and Draken keeps wondering why he'd waited so long to confess his feelings. It's a lot of lost time, but at least things have turned out great.
Everyone cheered and shouted "Finally!" when they shared the news with them, except one person: Sano Takemichi.
Draken wasn't surprised that the youngest Sano didn't show happiness for his and Emma's relationship, especially since it's no secret that Takemichi dislikes him.
On the bright side, the pipsqueak has matured a bit over the years, and his attempts to break Draken's bones with his dirty tricks have vanished. The snarky comments remain, though.
The sudden clearing of a throat snaps Draken out of his thoughts and he sighs. "Takemichi," he says tiredly.
"Draken," the boy flatly replies.
They're sitting in the Sano's living room, a request made by Takemichi because they need to have a "talk."
Draken curiously raises a brow at the younger and asks, "What did you want to talk about?"
Takemichi gets straight to the point. "You're lame."
"Hah?! What did you say, shrimp?"
"I said that you're lame. You've been crushing on my sister since, like, the fifth grade and only recently you've gotten brave enough to tell her how you feel. You're both embarrassing, really, but you more because you walk around town like some tough guy, and you're second-in-command of the top gang in Shibuya, but it takes you years just to confess to a girl. Lame."
Draken is flabbergasted, not only because of Takemichi's words, but also because this is the most the boy has ever said to him in one go.
Embarrassingly enough, he stammers out, "T-that's all you w-wanted to say?"
"Yep!" Takemichi replies boredly, popping the p. "I just wanted to tell you what you already know. Anyway, I have a date to get to." He stands up and grabs his jacket from the arm of the chair. "And one more thing, you have my blessings, I guess. Just treat my sister right."
His words were a mumble after he stood up, so Draken didn't hear him well. "What?" he asks with furrowed brows.
Takemichi sighs and looks away with an embarrassed flush. "I said you have my blessings! Treat Emma right! Gosh, I hate you!" He stomps out of the house and slams the front door, leaving behind a speechless Draken.
"What...just happened?"
Outside, Takemichi stomps down the pathway with a scowl. "Stupid Draken!" he grumbles. "Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Arggh, I feel so embarrassed!"
Giving his blessings to his enemy was never supposed to happen. Takemichi didn't like anything about Draken at first, but over the years, even when he terrorized him, he's grown to see why everyone appreciates the teen and sees him as family.
Takemichi will never admit it, but he knows that Draken is a good guy, and he doesn't doubt for a second that he will be a great boyfriend to Emma.
He sighs and walks more calmly. "I need to stop hanging around Emma and Shinichiro, they're making me soft."
