(Posting this from my Fanfiction.net, hence why there are so many chapters already).
On her way to a peace treaty in the Orkney Isles Merida and her father are attacked at sea. When she comes to she finds herself surrounded by Vikings. With no knowledge of her Father's fate, she must find her way home. Along the way she must work together with the Viking Hiccup to find a way to change the fate of his village as well as her homelands.

“Draken’s dead.”
It’s blunt. Cruel in how flat it sounds.
Takemichi doesn’t look at him but still flinches while looking at the white wall infront of him.
He knew. Of course he knew.
But hearing it out loud makes it real in a way he can’t undo.Another pause short and sharp.
And then Chifuyu says it.
“It’s your fault.”
Everything stops.
Takemichi finally looks at him, like he’s been struck. Like he was expecting it but still wasn’t ready.
Chifuyu doesn’t take it back but his eyes flicker, just once. Regret? maybe. Or doubt. But it’s gone too fast to matter.
Takemichi’s fingers clutch the sheets.
“I know.”
