Lloyd grunted as he was pushed back by one of the goons.
Then he blew another hit, which landed and made the thief land on his back on the hard metal floor.
Lloyd took a swift glance across the space.
The others were busy fighting the villains off.
It was not organized, everyone taking up the entire space, fighting them with their full strength.
It was almost like everyone stood and fought in a circle, all surrounding the now abandoned staff which held the forbidden scroll of spinjitzu.
Lloyd moved his way forward as fast as he could, only to be pushed aside by someone else, in this case, Jay, who collided into him, after being pushed out of his spinjitzu spin.
Lloyd groaned and cast his eyes upwards again, seeing someone reach for the staff once more.
His eyes started to glow a bright white, and on top of his head, a halo of icy blue fire appeared, seeming freezing to the touch.
Zane now was defeating his opponents more easily but it was also tricky, to keep the staff out of their hands.
"Zane look out!" Cole called, which startled and distracted Zane just long enough for one of the villains to kick the staff out of his hand.
The icy fire crackled and evaporated.
The glowing eyes returning back to normal.
Leaving Zane powerless for a second before he recovered and blew a ray of ice at someone again.
Pixal quickly picked up the staff from the floor, as expected, her eyes remained normal, and no halo appeared.
"Cole!". Pixal yelled before throwing the staff over to him, to get it out of the hands of the evil side.
Cole jumped up and managed to grab the staff just before Aspheera could.
With his leveled-up powers, he spun around mid-air, landing a few feet away.
Instead of his trusted scythe, he used his hands, to slam against the metal floor, which shook the cave around them.
"Careful!". Jay yelled, zapping one of the goons.
Now that a lot of them were targeting Cole, he managed to trap a few of them, creating rocks around them, pinning them in place.
What he failed to notice was Aspheera, who appeared behind him and snatched the staff out of his hands.
She grinned. "Thank you". She said mockingly before embracing the power of the scroll with open arms.
"Now- I can finally take my-". Aspheera growled but got cut off, by a beam of fire, being directed at the staff.
"Ah!". Aspheera cried out and dropped the staff out of surprise.
Nya took a sprint towards the snake and slid under at just the perfect time to catch the staff when Aspheera dropped it.
"Thank you". Nya smiled and felt the power of the scroll flowing through her.
Aspheera turned around and looked at Nya with a raging look.
"Uh oh-". Nya's smile dropped and she quickly dodged Aspheera's raging incoming attacks.
Jay charged up and directed a beam of lightning to hit Aspheera in the back.
Aspheera cried out as she got hit, being electrified, but she fought on, managing to hit Nya with her whipping tail.
"Nya!". Jay cried out and rushed to her side.
Aspheera was fast approaching and so Jay quickly snatched the staff and pushed Aspheera back with his lightning.
"Nya". Jay called and looked at the unconscious Nya while dropping to his knees, the staff abandoned as Jay drops it.
"Jay-". Kai called out when he noticed one of the goons heading for the staff.
When Jay made no move to stop him, Kai pushed off the one he was fighting and sprinted towards where the staff was.
"Oh no, you don't". He calls out and swang his leg low, to make their opponent lose balance.
"Ha!". Kai laughed out victorious, with the scroll in his hands.
Then the scroll activated again and interacted with Kai's elemental power.
Kai his mouth gaped as the immense boost of power started to mix in with his elemental.
He has never felt stronger before, he felt like he could do anything.
He started up his fire and shot it at their opponents, feeling that it took way less effort and that he could raise higher flames, hotter fire.
Kai was soon already drowning in the scroll's power, not thinking straight anymore as he started countless fires all over the place, mostly still targeted at the goons.
Jay gasped as one of the fire rays almost hit him, he curled up around Nya, to shield her.
"Kai!" Lloyd calls, hoping the fire ninja would hear him and put a stop to this.
Kai did indeed hear him, as he snapped his attention to him, his face sneered in rage.
Wu pushed Lloyd aside, as to shield him.
Lloyd his eyes widened as he saw Kai firing up.
"No!". Lloyd screamed and pushed the old master out of the line of crossfire.
Everything seemed to be happening in slow motion, as Lloyd stumbled to get his balance, the beam of fire already having excited Kai's palms, creeping towards him.
Lloyd summoned his power, sending it towards the raging line of fire.
The two elements met in the middle as they crashed into each other, a roaring and booming sound emitting from it, along with a force that pushed everyone back except for the ninja who were facing each other, eye to eye.
"Ah-". Lloyd groaned, struggling a bit to keep it up.
Meanwhile, Kai still looked at him with the same ice-cold sneering look, as he kept sending his raging flames toward him.
Lloyd began to sweat, and he felt that his power was faltering, and with the second, he became more afraid.
Fire, the most destructive and dangerous element out of the rest of them, powered by the forbidden scroll of spinjitzu, sparring against the element of energy, one of a kind, the first in its existence, the power to create and destroy, the power that connects everything.
Lloyd peeked through his forcefully shutten eyes. He saw the fire, creeping closer toward him, as Lloyd started to get more tired.
Lloyd pleaded that Kai would stop, didn't he see that he was hurting his friends? His family?
The longer Kai held on to the scroll, the more his mind got corrupted, all he could think about now was, how Lloyd stripped away what was meant to be him, his destiny, the leader, the legend.
A kid, a bully, the son of the evil being Lord Garmadon, being destined to be the light bringer.
At the beginning of his training, Kai could defeat Lloyd with ease.
Then it became harder, and harder, he lost more matches than he won until he lost every single one of them following to come.
As Lloyd became stronger, Kai felt more powerless, more useless.
This time, he could be stronger than Lloyd, finally beating him in his own game once again.
The scroll of forbidden spinjitzu, even feared by their dear old master.
Surely it had enough power to defeat Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon.
Kai his expression steeled once again as he became even more determined.
He growled out of his deepest core, sending a wave of higher flames toward the green ninja.
Lloyd his eyes widened before they changed and expressed pure determination.
He grinded his teeth together, and his look steeled secure, his eyes flashing, glowing even a brighter green as he himself released a more powerful wave of energy to counter.
His green energy, flowed within another, creating the illusion of a dragon's head, charging towards the dangerous high flames as Lloyd cried out his inner battle cry.
When the new and more powerful waves hit each other, it releasing another crashing wave of force and energy, this one more powerful than the one before.
Kai stumbled, sliding back a few feet, starting to lose his firm grip on the ground as the two elements collided once again.
Kai began to shake, as his beam of fire seemed to retract slowly.
The scroll's power doesn't seem enough anymore, it wasn't as strong as Kai once thought.
How was this possible? The scroll's power combined with his element should have been enough, enough to easily defeat the legendary green ninja.
But here he was, struggling, as his fire seemed to die out slowly.
Kai felt like he wasn't getting enough air, and as he did, his fire seemed to tire out.
The scroll faltered, even its power isn't enough to compete.
Kai felt as if his lungs were stripped away of all air, and with it, went his fire, blown out as a candle.
Lloyd's energy hit him all at once, sent him flying back, all up against the wall, the scroll having caught on fire, burned away from the staff with green glowing flames.
The green energy dissolved, as Lloyd stopped spitting it out of himself, right after he fell to his knees.
Kai fell down as well, hitting the metal floor with his side.
"Lloyd". Wu called and rushed to his side.
"Kai". Nya gasped and went over to her brother's side, with Jay following closely behind.
Lloyd stubbornly got up, while Wu hovered over him by his side.
"I'm fine". Lloyd reassured Wu as he took a few steps forward.
Jay glanced over his shoulder as Lloyd approached them.
"Is he-". Lloyd gasps, not sure what he is supposed to think.
"He's just unconscious". Nya assured him.
Lloyd let out a sigh of relief, looking behind him as he heard metal clinging.
It was Wu who picked up the staff, which contained no scroll anymore, just a few scorched-up ends.
He looked at it curiously before meeting Lloyd's gaze.
Wu knew that this was just the beginning, a small glimpse of the true potential of the grandson of the first spinjitzu master, the legendary green ninja.
