Pikachu does not like this new Squirtle one bit. From the moment that tiny turtle waddled into their lives, it was like everything fun had drained away. There had been no more foraging for oran berries, no more games of tag up and down the river, no more quiet moments curled up under the brilliant summer sunset. No, now all Ash wants to do is train. Train, and give praise to that stupid Squirtle with its stupid grin, splashing gracelessly across the small pond like a clumsy blue human toddler.
