They can't.. stop now. Red blood stained white snow. Just a little further.
Mizuki clutched their right side, using their other arm to shield their face from the wind and snow. Blood soaked into their once pink gloves and getting all over their coat. What a shame.. It was one of their favorites. They can't be worrying about that though.
A large gust of wind caused them to stumble, falling face first into the snow. They laid there for a moment, their head spinning. They could give up and accept their fate right there. Whether they bleed to death or just freeze.
They closed their eyes, thinking about the words Ena said before they left on their mission
"You better come back! If you die I will kill you in the afterlife!"
And Mizuki laughed and said, "Aw, so sweet Enanan! I promise you though, I'll be fine."
They promised. And now here they were. Giving up. The cold was just so tempting. It would be so easy to just.. let the darkness consume. And yet, they promised.
They pushed themself back up, clenching their teeth at the pain. They brushed the blood stained snow off their front before continuing on. The familiar, warm lanterns shone through the snow blowing into their face. They're almost there.
They stumbled again, narrowly avoiding a second fall. They approached the lantern light of the home they shared with Ena. They reached the door, leaning against the doorframe while they knocked.
The door opened, and Mizuki collapsed
Mizuki opened their eyes. Their head felt fuzzy. A thick blanket laid on top of them. They moved to push themself up but the moment they moved, pain shot up their side. They groaned, flopping back down.
Their wounds were bandaged and the care taken to tuck them in was noticable. The door of the room opened and Mizuki's eyes lit up.
"Enanan!"
Ena quickly looked over. "Mizuki!" Ahh Mizuki knows that tone of voice. "What were you doing!"
"The usual."
"I patched up five stab wounds!"
"Five? Last I counted there was only four."
"There was a knife sticking our of your back."
"Huh! Guess I missed that one."
"What were you thinking?"
"I had a promise, Enanan." Mizuki closed their eyes with a smile. They knew they weren't answering the question. "I had to come back, didn't I?" They opened their eyes again, reaching an arm out to Ena.
Ena rolled her eyes, taking Mizuki's hand in hers. "I'm glad youre back," Ena mumbled. "You said you'd be back yesterday. I got worried."
"Aww sorry, but you know I don't break my promises!"
"Next time will you promise to not get stabbed five times?"
"Four times it is then!"
"Mizuki-!"
