Chapter Text

Where do I start? I suppose we could start in the middle. If it gets too confusing, I can always pause and return to the beginning.

You never start the story at the end, it's always sad, and you don't know why they're sad or who died.

So Middle it is.

Something shattered as 445 appeared; things fell over and hit the floor, and liquids in the cups spilled, coloring the floor in a bluish-purple hue.

The girl freaked out, snapping her fingers automatically to fix the damage done. Two people ran into the room as the mess cleaned itself up and fused to be unbroken.

Their eyes ran over the room, looking for the culprit, expecting Alex to be the problem, only stopping as they stared at a girl.

"Who are you, and what are you doing in our house," the first guy spoke; he was angry and took her as a threat.

"445," she replied, tilting her head and then looking at the other guy. "Where am I ?" she flapped her hands around, shaking the sleeves of her shirt until her hands were no longer seen, then fixing her sleeves where she could use them easily. "Feels like a place I've been before,"

"What kind of name is 445?"

The said girl turned back and focused. "I don't know, just what people called me, think I was married at one point. Anyway," she seemed to mumble things to herself as she talked, offering bits of information freely without prompt. "Is there anything about this universe that distinguishes it from the others?"

"What?" the meaner guy asked, followed by the other man. "You've been to other universes?"

445 nodded at the question. "Loads of them; it's a lot of fun. Like traveling is one of my favorite things, I don't have to be a hero in the DC or a villain in Marvel. I can just be me and travel everywhere,"

The two men glanced at one another before going back to the girl.

"Let's start with a name; you two have me at a disadvantage,"

"Jonathan Flare," the mean guy spoke, still not trusting the girl. "And Toaster," replied the other one.

445 nodded. "Nice meeting you, so where am I?"

Toaster glanced away from her to Flare. "You think Alex sent her?"

Flare shrugged.

"Alex?" the girl caught. "Alex, who?"

Flare glanced back at her. "Okay, you clearly know nothing. How did you get here,"

She raised an eyebrow. "I don't know, I snapped?" she shrugged. "I can show you," and she snapped her fingers, summoning a glass of water.

She took a sip as both Flare and Toaster reacted negatively to the sound. "No-no, don't do that,"

445 finished the sip and snapped her fingers, sending the glass back from where she'd taken it. "You guys okay?"

Flare glared. "Stop doing that,"

"Doing what?" she frowned. Looking down at her fingers, she mimed a snap. "This?"

Toaster nodded. "Please don't,"

445 shrugged. "Yeah, okay. So what world is this anyway?"

"The world with the S-tier," Toaster answered.

"Ohhhh," she exclaimed. "I've been here before Cassie, or someone summoned me to fight Leader USA. He was so bad at fighting. He was honestly such a piece of cake,"

When the two didn't respond, she asked. "What?"

"You fought a hero?"

445 nodded. "He was trying to kill someone, a villain, I think," she shrugged. "I don't care what his deal was; I was there for the ride. So," she smiled. "What stuff can I help you two with?"
