Work Text:
The duel is a spectacle, of course. Miorine clenches her fists throughout, terrified that Suletta will lose, or that her father will pull a dirty trick that Suletta won't be able to recover from-- but soon enough, Suletta and Aerial emerge victorious.
Miorine runs towards Aerial as soon as the Mobile Suit touches down.
"You did it! You did it, you did it, you did it!" Miorine throws herself onto Suletta as soon as Suletta steps out of Aerial, unable to contain her joy. Suletta had beaten her father-- her father--! in a duel.
"Wha--?" Suletta, of course, is as baffled as ever. For the first time, Miorine is delighted by her confusion rather than annoyed. She hugs Suletta tighter, and then relaxes, taking a step back-- though still within arm's reach of Suletta.
When Suletta takes off her helmet, Miorine can't help herself. She's still giddy, on a high from Suletta's victory. Suletta is the first Holder that she actually likes, and well, she's Miorine's fiancee, isn't she?
So Miorine cups Suletta's cheeks with her hands, pulls her face close, and presses her lips against Suletta's. She feels Suletta go rigid-- oh, right, Miorine remembers. Suletta had been shocked at the idea of a woman marrying another woman. To be kissed by a girl was probably even more shocking.
Miorine still kisses, Suletta, though. She hardly ever gets a chance to be selfish, and it's not like Suletta is actually pushing her away. So she kisses Suletta a moment longer, and then reluctantly pulls away.
Suletta's eyes are wide open in shock. She's staring at Miorine, who suddenly feels self-conscious with her hands still against Suletta's cheeks. She lets her arms fall onto Suletta's shoulders, still embracing her.
Miorine is suddenly very aware of every point on her body that's touching Suletta. She had thrown her arms around her, and their chests are pressed together now. Miorine's cheeks are hot. Suletta's face is bright red, almost matching her hair. Miorine self-consciously tucks her hair behind her ear, looking away from Suletta.
The silence between them stretches into a long moment, until Miorine finally breaks the silence.
"Sorry," she says. "I just-- got excited."
"First," Suletta says in a strangled voice.
"First?" Miorine repeats, confused.
"T-that was," Suletta stutters, "m-my first kiss..." her hands move to her face, her fingers brushing against her lips, as though she could still feel Miorine on them.
Miorine waits for that statement to be modified with "by a girl," but such an addition never comes. Her face flushes as she realizes that Suletta truly had never been kissed by anyone at all.
"I hope it was alright," Miorine says lamely, looking anywhere but Suletta's face. "I haven't, ah-- had much practice, myself."
"Can we-- can we maybe," Suletta says, stuttering, and Miorine waits patiently for her to finish. "Canwemaybetrythatagain?" Suletta finally asks, all in a rush, as though forming the sounds into separate words would make her lose the nerve to ask.
Miorine almost laughs, but doesn't want Suletta to think she's making fun of her. Though, from what Miorine can tell, Suletta probably wouldn't even think that. She's too good-- too innocent, really. Instead, Miorine leans forward and kisses Suletta again, tilting her head just so so their noses don't collide.
She's slower, this time when she kisses Suletta. She watches Suletta's eyes flutter closed, and then she closes her own eyes. Suletta is soft, this time, rather than rigid. Kissing her feels-- it feels amazing, actually. Miorine has had a few kisses before now, but none of them had felt like this
Miorine sighs into Suletta's mouth, and then parts her lips. Suletta responds eagerly, opening her mouth as well, and then their tongues are in each other's mouths, and a low moan rises out of Miorine's chest. It would almost be embarrassing, except she's pretty sure that Suletta is moaning, too.
Her hands have been useless this entire time. Miorine changes that, pulling her arms back and weaving her hands into Suletta's hair. Suletta gasps, and Miorine smiles into the kiss. So she's into that, is she? Miorine tightens her grip, and Suletta practically folds into her-- did her knees just buckle? Heat rushes through Miorine.
The sound of a cough interrupts them, and Miorine reluctantly pulls away from Suletta, who is gaping like a fish, her eyes lidded and her cheeks bright red.
"Yes?" Miorine says primly, trying to sound as proper as she can two seconds after a make-out session.
Luckily, it isn't her father. Her eyes dart back and see that he's still in his wrecked Mobile Suit. Instead, she faces the mysterious Lady Prospera.
"Congratulations," Lady Prospera says, first to Suletta, but then she turns her head towards Miorine as well. "I expect great things from you two."
Suletta nods, suddenly standing stiff again. She woodenly salutes Lady Prospera, who mercifully walks away from the two of them. Miorine can feel Suletta's muscles relax a bit as she walks away.
"You won," Miorine repeats breathlessly. "Do you know what that means?"
"Aerial won't be scrapped!" Suletta says. "Right?" She looks at Miorine anxiously, who nods.
"Aerial won't be scrapped, and you won't be expelled! And my father won't pull me out of school, either."
"He pulled you out of school?" Suletta asks, her brow wrinkling.
"He told me that he was going to choose my husband, no Holder anymore. I was so mad! First making his stupid rules, and then going back on them when it was inconvenient for him... but I couldn't abandon you! They said you were going to be expelled. I... I couldn't let that happen."
"Thank you," Suletta says, and Miorine's heart swells.
"I had to," Miorine says. She looks away from Suletta. "You... you stood up for me. And then got in trouble because of it. I was just... taking responsibility," she finishes lamely.
Suletta's hand is gentle on her cheek. She gingerly tugs Miorine's chin back to face her.
"Thank you," she repeats, and Miorine wants to kiss her all over again. She settles for grabbing Suletta's hands and squeezing them.
"Oh," she says, remembering something. "And the duel with Guel wasn't voided! You're still the Holder." Miorine feels her cheeks flush. "My fiancee," she adds in a smaller voice. For the first time, that word makes her heart flutter. Suletta stiffens again.
"I-- I promise to do my best!" Suletta says.
"You better," Miorine says. "I won't allow you to let anyone else become the Holder, you hear?"
"Of course!" Suletta pulls her closer, her other arm around Miorine's back, holding her tight. "I won't let anyone take you away!"
There's a moment of silence between them as they both process what their words mean. Fiancee. Marriage. Suletta's face is somehow an even brighter red, now.
"Good," Miorine says, and then she lays her head down against Suletta's shoulder. Suletta wraps her arms around her, holding her close. "Good."
