Work Text:

“Oh good, you’re alive.”

Lucifer glares at his twin. He didn’t ask to be revived by their awful father, but here he is.

“You just made Chalice again but ugly.”

“…what?”

Yaldaboath, a human spirit Lucifer doesn’t recognize behind him, looks close to grinning. And glaring. Both.

“Agito,” Lucifer says. “Most are gold and red and black. Bug themed. But none of the detailing. And it goes on my perfect humans.”

“Ah like that twink you put in for the Battle Fight?” Lucifer asks. “He only won cause he was so pathetic no one could take him seriously. I mean, did you see him? Also looking at that spirit with you, you aren’t even into twinks.”

“Like you didn’t snap back with the 13 demon races,” Yaldaboath says.

“Well, it seems my job here is done.”

Father’s voice.

It’s been so long, even before Lucifer’s lost fight with Yaldaboath.

“But you didn’t do anything.”

Mortena’s voice. Oh okay. Sure. Not like she ignores them or anything.

“I revived Promes, Mortena.”

“My name is Lucifer,” Lucifer says.

“My name is Life,” says the one third of Mortena .

“I gave you names.”

“They’re stupid,” says Yaldaboath. “No one keeps them.”

“And here I am trying to be a good father,” says father.

“NOW?” Life asks. “It’s too late. We all hate you. And you lost.”

“I’m not omnipotent,” Father says. “It was Rock Paper Scissors.”

“Still,” Life says.

Father appears human. For now. His short hair is brown and his plain white clothes are under a similarly white vest.

He looks like Lucifer’s humanoid form the most, Lucifer thinks.

Lucifer would like it if he knew what was going on, but he trusts no one in the room.

Briefly, he trusted Chalice and King, but caring for one’s creations in any personal way never ends well.

King’s war changed everything for his 13 demon races. 5 lost their natural human state. Most slowly began to retreat.

And, sadly. Chalice, his beloved creation, lost.

He was Lucifer’s favorite, he won’t deny it. Chalice was beautiful. Strong, too.

Chalice was the Mantis undead officially. But he was Lucifer’s shoe in the race for his first of the demon races. The DeBugs.

…yeah that worked out great.

The other 12 were a mix of spite for Yaldaboath’s stupid twink of a Human Undead and his stupid stubborn refusal to die and just genuinely trying to make humans stronger.

…Of course, that also worked out incredibly well, didn’t it? What with the death.

When, you know, Yaldaboath killed him.

Back to the present, however.

“What the hell happened?”

Just then, a zipper appears from this air, to reveal…

Forestopia?

“The Forest sent me here,” says its host. “My name is Natsumi. Who are you?”

“Gods,” says father.

“Can someone please explain what’s going on?” Lucifer asks.

“I had an interesting encounter,” father replies with a shrug. “I decided to take more care. Maybe even for my kids.”

“Sure, Father,” says everyone present, including “Natsumi”, who seems confused at her own words.

Lucifer sighs. Sure, why not?

“So how’d Agito go?” He asks.

“Shouichi and I are observing,” Yaldaboath says, gesturing at his human spirit. “I decided to see where it leads, but the Agito’s and Humans simply live together like any of your creations. And more of your races have been killed by the previous King.”

…sure. Well that petty death plan went terrible.

Lucifer sighs.

“Mortena’s right,” he says. “Father did jack shit. Can I meet any of my Agitos, at least?”

“The first is with me,” says Mortena , and when Lucifer opens his mouth, she raises her hand. “Who I will show to you if you call me and my sisters by our names, for once.”

“But you just split—”

“Well?”

Lucifer sighs.

“Take me to Heavenrotopia… Life.”

“Um… why do I know that name?” Asks “Natsumi”.

“You can come as well, if you like,” says… Life. “I’ll send you right back now you’re Forestopia’s host.”

“Natsumi” blinks and hesitantly joins.

Lucifer remains so confused.
