The Feeling of Touch

Summary:

When Hizashi touches him, it feels like sunlight is dancing across his skin.

Work Text:

Shoutas eyes have gone blind for the past 20 years, something that comes along with his quirk after too many years as a pro hero. With eyes no longer working, his touch has gotten stronger. Relying on memory and feeling to make coffee, or to even find his room, does not weigh down on him. Yet the one thing he does regret, as having regrets is hard when the things you sacrifice help save others, is seeing his love.

His soulmate who has given him everything through the years and who he has given everything to. Yes of course he can hear his loud voice, taste him on his tongue, and smell his sweet shampoo, but most of all he has memorized what his hands feel like.

Warm. Yet soft as they cup his face and kisses sprinkle across his cheek. The feeling of roughness only comes at the pads of his palms, where years of hard work has been saved on his body. How he loves him still he will never know. Losing their friend and final part of each other in highschool was the worst of their lives, yet they can both remember Oboros hand in theirs. They can both remember the weight and warmth of a body close to theirs and a pressure in their heart when looked at too closely. They remember the feeling of wet tears sliding down faces when he was torn away, and of soft shudders the day he was lowered to the ground.

Yet they never waver. They may stumble but get back up with the feeling of a hand in each other's palm, and constrictions in their hearts. They pick eachother up time after time, every bad mission and every failed life covers their heart and their minds. Yet they stand again and again for the sake of others. To be the people who weren’t able to save them from heartbreak and misfortune.

They hold one another when a particularly bad mission ends in a child’s life ending, feeling each other's touch and slowly moving the pieces that broke back into place. Broken but never shattered beyond repair is whispered between each other, as soft fingers glue the pieces back together.

When Hizashi touches him, it feels like sunlight is dancing across his skin. He wishes to see his smile and his gorgeous eyes once more, yet settles on the feathery touches of the morning. Kissing Hizashi reminds him of melting chocolate, with him falling into the taste and time of him over and over again, without getting tired or restless. He wishes he could see his eyes light up once more when Shouta gives him a smile that reaches his whole face, bodies relaxing into one another.

Yet while he misses these sights, he will never take his touch for granted. Being able to hold his soulmate's hand and feel his heartbeat under his head. He doesn’t feel when his body gets too worn to run, as his days are spent laying with his other half. When time becomes too much for them both, and Hizashi can no longer hear, he will be there with signed words he can no longer see. He will be there with soft touches and with a warm heart.

When he is no longer here, he will be waiting. Waiting to see his lover smile for him once again, sunshine infused into every crevice of his skin. He will be waiting with their missing piece, and they will walk together once again.
